Protestors Sink To New Lows – Digging Up Graves Of People Dead For 137 Years

Just when you thought the hippie protestor movement couldn’t sink any “lower”, a group of protestors in Memphis, TN have outdone themselves once again by digging up the grave of a confederate general who has been dead for 137 years.  What is this going to accomplish, you might ask? Well that would be a good question. Aside from destroying and vandalizing a beautiful park and local cemetery, nobody is quite sure what message these protestors are trying to convey.

The confederate general in question, Nathan Bedford Forrest, was a known slave trader and according to many historians, was basically an all-around evil guy.  But let’s face it, this was the freakin’ 1800s.  There were many terrible people in this country, both slave traders and otherwise, should we go around and dig up all of their graves and desecrate them for their actions 200 years ago?!? Don’t these hippies have something more productive to do?! Something that could actually make a difference in today’s society?!

According to CBS — “We are going to bring the back hoe, the tractors and the men with the equipment to raise Bedford Forrest from the soil of Memphis,” Isaac Richmond with the “Commission on Religion and Racism” declared to awaiting TV cameras,

Richmond ran unsuccessfully for Congress last year.

He believes if the general who died 137 years ago can just be eliminated, that will really help things.

“If he’s gone, some of this racism and race-hate might be gone,” he said, shovel in hand. “We got a fresh shovel full, and we hope that everybody else will follow suit and dig him up.”

Others see their actions as little more than destruction of property.

“They can protest all they want. Just because they don’t like it, doesn’t mean they are right. Digging up the park is just pure and simple vandalism,” says Lee Millar, spokesman Sons of Confederate Veterans.

“We really don’t want to make this a confrontation. We just want to say hey, we want to get on with it!” Richmond insists.

Since the protestors have already dug below the earth’s surface, one can only imagine how much lower they can stoop. Hopefully the Massachusetts hippies don’t follow suit and try to destroy local cemeteries instead of going out and finding work.

According to historian Shelby Foote, Forrest was the greatest military genius of the Civil War. The North feared him, his men loved him. Killed over 60 men in hand to hand combat. As a slave trader he usually kept the families together. Thousands attended his funeral, including several hundred African Americans. A mean, brutal guy who served as the first Grand Wizard of the KKK. A different era, a different time. Anyone who thinks it’s a good idea to dig up his grave or any grave is a complete moron.

at this rate we’re going to re-wash all of history. I realize this dude was a fucked up human being in modern day terms. But where does it stop? Hillary on the dollar bill and a black panther flag for the national flag? I think the CDC should be involved and public health concerns, bringing up a corpse from last century can’t be good for the civilians

Does that mean the hippies will also dig up the grave of former US Senator and former “Exalted cyclops” of the KKK Robert Byrd?

Admittedly a pretty fucking horrible motherfucker, but if we’re going to dig up the grave of every evil motherfucker ever to live in this country then we’re never going to get anything accomplished.

Oh, wait… we’re already getting nothing fucking accomplished…

Just playing devils advocate for those hippies down there but this dude was more evil than most. If what I have read in the past is true he helped found the KKK, legitimately should have never had a statue to start with.

This may be the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. A sidebar, Nathan Bedford Forrest is the namesake of Forrest Gump. I guess life is like digging up 140 year old graves, you never know what you’re gonna get.

Why nit dig up the graves of Stanley Tookie Williams and Sylvester Scott?

These two founded the bloods and crips and are probably responsible for more murder and oppression against African Americans then the general.
