Editor’s note: Patriot’s towing was not the city’s first choice for the towing bid. They were second. However, they are second on the list. The way it works is if standard can’t do it like at night when they don’t answer the phone they go to the next tow company on the list. The bottom line is that Patriots Towing will be getting work from the city and shouldn’t have even been on the bid list since the City Council vowed to never hire them again.

Last year we exposed how the disgraced Worcester towing company, Pat’s Towing, had teamed up with disgraced former NFL lardo Albert Haynesworth to create a new towing company in order to get back the city contracts they lost. For those of you not familiar with their long, detailed history of assaulting people whose cars they towed, bribing state’s witness, and lots of other crimes, read thisIn 2013 City Manager Mike O’Brien terminated the city’s contract with Pat’s per the order of Police Chief Gary Gemme:

“I make this recommendation,” he continues, “in light of recent events and a pattern of conduct which lead me to the conclusion that the interests of public safety and the integrity of the city of Worcester are not served by maintaining a business relationship with this entity.”

Obviously we should never, ever do business with Pat’s Towing again, especially when there are plenty of other towing companies who don’t beat the shit out of people and try to bribe state’s witnesses before trial. The Santa Maria family knows this, and there only hope of getting a new contract from the city was by forming a new company with a front man that has a clean name. Naturally they chose this fat bastard, who made more money than any player in NFL history at the time to do absolutely nothing:

Well, Patriots fans may recall that after being run out of Washington, Albert Haynesworth came to the Patriots, only to be cut during training camp because he’s fat and useless. But while he was in the area he became BFFL’s with the Santa Maria’s, according to ESPN:

Whether he was gushing about his longtime admiration for the Patriots organization or talking about his best friend’s towing company in Worcester, you couldn’t help but walk away from a Haynesworth interview without thinking about how engaging he was.

So Haynesworth opened up a new company called “Patriot’s Towing” out of Petersham:

12250259_10153108297495178_1167632412_o

But this business uses the phone number associated with Pat’s Towing:

12228060_10153106825030178_545564763_o

And uses Pat’s Towing’s trucks:

12250294_1650528018563808_2097771617_o

12248793_10153106825085178_580393471_n

Which would make sense, because Albert Haynesworth doesn’t know the first thing about running a tow company. After all, he’s just the frontman for Pat’s Towing part II. Notice the Patriot’s logo on the trucks. If you’ve got a bunch of “Pat’s Towing” trucks lying around, and you wanna rebrand your company, then what better to call it than Patriot’s Towing? You don’t even have to paint over the trucks. Just toss a Patriots logo on your truck (illegally, and without the permission of the the Kraft family), and start a new company owned by a guy who played on the Patriots for five minutes.

Anyway, here’s the fucked up part we found today – Patriot Towing was awarded the city towing contract to for abandoned cars:

screen-shot-2016-09-17-at-10-25-17-pm

Patriot’s towing. Owned by Albert Haynesworth – the front man for Pat’s Towing. A man who knows nothing about running a towing company. However, the trucks that Patriot’s Towing are using all have compliance decals and DOT numbers registered to the Santa Maria’s. So make no doubt about it – the city just gave a towing contract to a company they vowed that they would never do business with again.

So who is the idiot who signed off on this? That would be “purchasing director” Chris Gagliastro.

screen-shot-2016-09-17-at-11-01-50-pm

The same guy who authorized $10,000 for free pens on election day. This guy works for the city and is employed by Ed Augustus. And obviously he’s in with the Santa Maria’s. Why else would he do this? He’s in on it. More insider corruption and inefficiency in Worcester. Same shit, different day.

This contract is just for the abandoned vehicles. In November the city is putting out a bid for the city’s towing contract for all other tows. Rumor is that Fat Albert’s company put in a lot of money for a bid and they’re going after it. Just a reminder that this is the same company that did this:

  • On May 1, 2009, Worcester Police were called to Pat’s Towing to respond to an assault and battery where Pat’s Towing employees inflicted a beating on two customers attempting to reclaim their towed vehicle. Five Pat’s Towing employees, including Patsy Santa Maria, Jr., and David Santa Maria, both sons of the owner of Pat’s Towing, were charged with assault and battery to intimidate with bodily injury, assault and battery with serious bodily injury, kidnapping, and civil rights violation with serious injury. The victims were subjected to racial slurs as they were beaten by Pat’s Towing employees on the premises of Pat’s Towing. Subsequently, one of the defendants, said by the District Attorneys’ office not to be the instigator, pled guilty to two countseach of kidnapping, assault and battery to intimidate, assault and battery and a civil rights violation.

And this:

  • On Dec. 13, 2011, Worcester Police were called to Pat’s Towing to respond to an assault and battery which lead to the arrest of Patsy Santa Maria, Jr., and David Santa Maria, both employees of Pat’s Towing and sons of the owner of Pat’s Towing, on charges of assault and battery with serious bodily injury, aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery with serious bodily injury, assault and battery to intimidate with serious injury, kidnapping, and a civil rights violation with serious bodily injury. The victim suffered a concussion, cracked ribs, a collapsed lung, a cracked vertebra and cuts and bruises. At one point while being attended to by emergency personnel, the victim’s heart stopped and he needed to be resuscitated. This beating also occurred on the premises of Pat’s Towing. The victim was sent to Pat’s Towing by his employer, Curtis Plow of Millbury Street, Worcester, to pick up a check from Pat’s Towing to pay for work done on a tractor owned by the owner of Pat’s Towing. On the fourth day of trial on these charges, Patsy Santa Maria, Jr., pleaded guilty to charges stemming from this incident and was sentenced to 18 months in the House of Correction, with the sentence suspended.

And this:

  • In connection with the trial of Patsy Santa Maria, Jr., Patsy Santa Maria, Sr., the owner of Pat’s Towing, was arrested on charges of attempting to bribe a witness in the case against his son. He is alleged to have offered a witness up to $25,000 to change his testimony such that the witness would say (falsely) that the victim was sent to Pat’s Towing, not to collect a check for payment of work performed in the ordinary course of business, but rather as a “leg breaker” to collect a debt.

And this:

  • As a result of the publicity surrounding the Dec. 13, 2011 incident, a witness came forward to report that on Nov. 9, 2011, when she reported to Pat’s Towing to retrieve her towed car, Pat’s employees would not let her have access to her car until she paid $125, even after she told Pat’s employees that her wallet was in the car. She saw her car was just inside the fence and went to it to retrieve her wallet. The Pat’s employee closed the gate behind her and would not let her out. The Pat’s employee was joined by another man, apparently an employee of Pat’s Towing, both of whom laughed at her and ridiculed and insulted her. She eventually climbed the fence, a fence topped with barbed wire, to gain her freedom. This witness had recently suffered a stroke which manifested itself in her right side drooping, a condition that should have been obvious to Pat’s employees.

And lots and lots of other stuff. Our tax dollars pay for Chris Gagliastro to give these assholes more money. A company that the City Council and police vowed to never give business to again. Hey Councilor Gaffney, can we get an audit of Chris Gagliastro? We’d love to how many other scumbags got city contracts, and if they were actually put out to bid.

According to MassLive, Augustus is beginning early negotiations to re-up his contract for 3 more years, at $205,000 a year. It’s all part of the same corrupt game. The deal will be sealed before people even know about it.

TBS said it exactly right: “same shit, different day.”

After 12 years of this I finally moved out of Worcester. I highly recommend the same since nothing has changed or will change.

    Sad. Just sad.

These as hats robbed me as I was fighting for my life after a car wreck. I left my wallet in the car because a gaping head wound makes you forgetful. I had my pay check cashed… receipts to show where I had spent MY MONEY and some asshole took everything except a folded up two dollar bill.

Purchasing department in the City has long been corrupt. Kickbacks and manipulation/sharing of sealed bid info was rampant under John Orrell. Ms. Binienda and Joe Radd from the WPS were complicit with awarding a school maintenance contract to an out-of-state contractor using an illegal in-state subsidiary front.

Can we get clarification here? As others have noted, the bid appears to have been awarded to Standard.

PAT’S TOWING IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST!! On New Years Eve last year, I was working at a local club on Water St. , had worked there long enough to know where I could and couldn’t park. I parked in the last spot on a small public way that led to the rear of what used to be Widoff’s bakery. My tire marks were very much visible & distinct in the snow! I get out of work around 3 A.M. to find my car had been towed by Pat’s who first stated the owner of the bakery called, which was a lie & then said I was parked on private property, ANOTHER lie! The cops couldn’t do anything & the guy at the desk at Pat’s told me “I’m just working the overnight on the desk, I have nothing to do with the tows!”, I was then told to calm down amd would either have to pay the $150 or leave it & pay more the following day!! Needless to say I busted my ass all night on New Years Eve for next to nothing because “THEY SAID SO” FUCKIN ASSHOLES!! THEIR SLOGAN SHOULD BE; PAT’S TOWING— ILLEGALLY TOWING PEOPLE AND TAKING THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY SINCE ESTABLISHED!!!

Holy shit…lol I know what street you’re talking about. It’s the dead end street to the right of the bakery. My car was towed from there about 8 years ago for the same reason. I asked the bakery workers if they called and they said no. The next day I discovered a dent on the driver side door. I didn’t even bother calling Pat’s after dealing with the desk asshole for 30 minutes just to get my car out, I knew I would be wasting my time.

I used to see cars parked there all of the time and thought it was okay to park there as well.
