Red Sox Fans Should Be Embarrassed By Jonny Gomes “Brawling” With Rays For Yunel Escobar Stealing Third Base

Follow us on Twitter and on Facebook

The Red Sox officially hit rock bottom yesterday because of three main events:

1. They lost their 10th game in a row

2. Josh Beckett’s fat ass threw a no hitter

3. They became giant losers yesterday by whining about how much they were losing by

With the Red Sox down 8-3 in the seventh inning and two outs, the Tampa Bay Rays’ Yunel Escobar stole third base uncontested. Apparently this is a violation of some sort of baseball code. So of course words were exchanged by Mr. blue collar, backup catch David Ross, and Escobar. And of course loud mouthed A.J. Pierzynski got the ball rolling by getting into it with fat boy Molina. And then of course Captain Fucking America Jonny Gomes showed up to show you how he’s someone you “want to go to war with.”

If you’re a Red Sox fan you should feel as embarrassed as I do about this “brawl.” First of all, it wasn’t a brawl. The only person who had an opportunity to punch someone was Jonny Gomes when he completely cheapshotted Esbobar. But he didn’t because he can’t hit anything.

This entire incident is humiliating and emasculating. Hey Ross and Pierzynski, if you don’t want them to steal third base when they’re five runs up then throw the fucking ball to third base and try to get him out. Or better yet, don’t put yourselves in a position where you’re down 8-3 with a man on second base. He had every right to try to steal third base. If John Farrell had a meeting with Joe Maddon in which he said, “I promise we won’t try to score runs in the 8th or 9th innings if you stop trying to score runs against us,” then that’s one thing. But to my knowledge the Red Sox had every intention of attempting to score the next time they were up. So why should Tampa Bay stop?

A five run lead in the third isn’t some insurmountable fucking obstacle. It happens all the time. Like, do these clowns even remember Saturday’s game? We were up 5-0 and lost. Apparently when the Red Sox get up by five runs they just stop trying, so in return they expect their opponent to do the same. I mean, why don’t the Red Sox just forfeit if that’s their attitude then? Why even play the game if you’ve decided that the lead is so insurmountable that you can’t come back?

In life there is absolutely nothing worse than losers who complain about how much they’re losing by. Nothing. This isn’t fucking T-Ball. It’s the big leagues. You’re a bunch of grown ass professionals making millions of dollars a year and you’re complaining about another team being mean to you by stealing third base. Oh I’m sorry, are the Rays bullying you naniburgers? Poor babies. They should be nicer and stop trying, ya know, like you do when you’re winning.

I know baseball has moronic “codes” that no other sport does, but this isn’t even close to a violation of it. There’s nothing in this unwritten code that says you can’t steal third base in the seventh inning when you’re trying to build on a five run lead. And just for the record the Red Sox did the SAME EXACT THING against Tampa last year, except they were up by SIX runs (8-2) and it was the eighth inning: hxaagu9y5n1ql7eiptkr You know what the Rays didn’t do? They didn’t start a bench clearing brawl because they thought the Red Sox were bullying them.

Now I didn’t see this broo-ha-ha happen live because as I was doing my patriotic duty of stuffing my face with pulled pork sandwiches while pounding Coors Light. But as soon as my buddy at the cookout told me the Red Sox got in a brawl the first thing I said was, “Let me guess, Jonny Gomes was involved.” Because of course Jonny fucking Gomes was involved. My hate for this jagoff grows by the day. Yes, I know he hit a pinch hit two run home run to tie the score at three yesterday. He’ll do that from time to time. His M.O. is strike out five times in a row, hit a home run, yell Boston Strong, support the troops, and tell reporters the questions to ask him at his next interview.

But the guy’s act is just so predictable it hurts. He can’t play baseball, everyone knows that. So to hide his obvious deficiencies at the plate he simply MUST be the first one to defend the Red Sox’ honor by going after Escobar for simply playing the game of baseball. This is how he butters his bread. And it’s not like he started doing this when he got to Boston. This is his schtick his entire career. Anyone remember the Coco Crisp-James Shields brawl? Guess who was leading the charge for the Rays that day? Your beloved Red Sox 4-life, Boston Strong, Jonny Gomes:

coco-gets-punched1

Red Sox fans are predictably buying into Jonny’s bullshit. Again. Some of you may have heard of this terrible blog called Massholesports.com. It attracts every moron out there who think Jonny is some kind of patriotic Red Sox hero. Everyone who comments on their Facebook page refuses to put any blame on the Red Sox for losing ten games in a row. It’s always someone else’s fault. Check out what these morons are saying today:

You got that? He’s a fucking Patriot. He even wore an American flag jacket to the White House, which basically makes him George fucking Washington.

Screen Shot 2014-05-26 at 2.53.35 PM

Yea bro, we totally kicked their asses!! All that pushing, shoving and holding teammates back clearly put the fear of God into them. For the record, we obviously didn’t be the shit out of them at all, but even if we did, who cares? We lost the fucking game. Our tenth in a row.

Screen Shot 2014-05-26 at 2.49.52 PM

Ya see that? Pink hat yahooism at its finest. She friggin loves Jonny Gomes!! Boston Strong!!

Screen Shot 2014-05-26 at 2.50.01 PM

Yea it really made my day too when the Red Sox lost their tenth game in a row. Boston Strong!!!

Screen Shot 2014-05-26 at 2.52.05 PM

Gomes totally has Ross’ back!! Awesome. Too bad neither of those morons can hit a baseball.

These people are the absolute worst. They represent everything that is wrong with Boston fans. We have some knowledgeable people up here who know and understand the game of baseball, but we also have a lot of these nudniks. This “brawl” isn’t going to get us to go on some winning streak like we did after Jason Varitek and A-Rod got into a tiffy back in ought four. This team isn’t good enough for that.

Keep in mind that these are the same fans who root for Tom Brady to keep throwing touchdowns when we’re up by 40. Now all of a sudden they’re outraged that this team is running up the score on us. I mean, do you idiots have any pride? The day I want a team to stop scoring on us because it’s bullying is the day I move to Montreal and become a Habs fan.

The only good thing that has come out of the last 24 hours has been Ryan Lavarnway getting called up. We have strong feelings about this guy at TurtleBoy Sports. We’re basically the only media outlet that’s consistently shit on Red Sox management for not giving this guy a shot. All he’s done his entire career is mash the ball. Last year he hit over .300 and yet he wasn’t on the postseason roster. But Jarred Saltalamacchia, the human strikeout, started nearly every game. I guess Lavarnway wasn’t Boston Strong enough.

According to the Red Sox live feed what the Rays did was “bad baseball, this late in the game,” with Jerry Remy later insisting that Escobar deserved to be hit because “With two outs, in scoring position, to go to third base was inexcusable against a Red Sox team that hasn’t been able to score.”

First of all Jerry, it’s not like Escobar murdered someone. Secondly, this is exactly why Remy has no business being on the air. He just made the Red Sox seem like Little Leaguers playing against some kind of All-Star team. So let me get this straight Jerry, they should stop trying to score because the Red Sox have been unable to score? He is LITERALLY saying that the Rays should throw the Red Sox a fucking pity party because they’re completely incompetent and can’t score runs. Fucking disgraceful embarrassment. Shut up Jerry.

It’s a long season and I’m not saying the Red Sox are dead yet. Luckily the AL East sucks. But they need to do something immediately. It’s simply unforgivable that Giancarlo Stanton isn’t on this team right now. Make a deal now before the season is officially over.

Feel free to share your thoughts to keep the conversation going.

This is the most biased piece of bullshit ever. You need to do a better job at explaining facts than just showing how much you hate the Red Sox. There are unscripted rules in the MLB under the code of baseball edict and Tampa clearly crossed the line by stealing third. But in the end it doesn’t really matter because the only question is who won last years World Series? Or right the sox

What is a “code of baseball edict?” And rules either exist or they don’t. The goal is to win the game, not to play by some code that can come back to bite one in the ass because of a late inning rally.

    • May 30, 2014 at 8:53 pm

Hey Andre, you’re the kind of fucktard that makes all Boston fans look bad. You know why they’re called “unscripted rules?” Because they’re not fucking real. They don’t actually exist. And even if they were real, stealing third in the seventh inning while you’re up by 5 runs isn’t a violation of them. Please, tell me more about these unwritten rules though. BTW, I’m an actual Red Sox fan. I actually enjoy the game of baseball too, which is why it was enraging to watch my favorite team deflower it with their bullshit.

This post was awesome. Thank you. I am a rays fan and just visited Boston for the first time last summer, and it was beautiful.. Boston baseball has been around forever, their history is amazing and i hope the rays can get there some day. But the Boston fans that come to Tampa are horrible. Rudest of all the out of town fans I have ever crossed, and there are a lot different team fans in Tampa.
So I made it a point to talk to some true bostonians about there basbeall when i was there. The older security guys at the hotel that i befriended, were humble loved their baseball and actually congratulated the rays for achieving so much with so little. It brought some love for Boston until this stupid shit happens and all the crazies come out and praise the stupidity. But after reading this I know that there are some sane ones still out there. Thank you.

Not to mention Boston came back and won after they were down 5 runs in the 5th the very next day. Hypocrites

The sox didn’t seem to mind when Ellsbury stole second against the Rays up by a run more and an inning later in the game last season. The sox were WAY out of line. I got an idea . . . try winning the right way.

Forget the “right way,” I’m fine with pine tar, corking, steroids, spitballs, whatever, just put forth some effort and let’s just try WINNING instead of complaining.

  • May 26, 2014 at 6:21 pm

Gomes is batting .238 and these morons love him. I miss the old days when being a red sox fan meant actually caring about winning.

This blog is a prime example of why you should change Turtleboy sports to Turtleboy track and field. It’s obvious you’ve never played baseball at a level higher then little league, anybody that has played the game at a high school level and up knows that when your up big and nobody is holding you on you do not steal, why it’s a defensive indifference, and he was on second so if the batter gets a hit he’s scoring anyway. Most of all your showing up your opponent. Is it a rule no is it bush league yes and was handled accordingly. Escobar to begin with does not respect the game at all he had so much potential coming up with the Braves and pissed it away he’s an average player with a chip on his shoulder and veterans do not like that. Please do us all a favor when and if the Sox start winning again do not put out blogs on how much you love your team.

    • May 26, 2014 at 6:17 pm

You sound like such a fucking girl. Congrats on your prestigious high school baseball career though.

Does track have unwritten rules? Is there a rule about not running faster in the mile because you can’t beat someone by too much? Are you supposed to throw the shot put underhand if you are going against North or Keefe Tech? Is the argument that track is more of a mens’ game than baseball because there are no unwritten rules?

    • May 26, 2014 at 6:22 pm

I wouldn’t call being up 5 runs with three innings to go, “Up Big”

    • Joey G
      May 26, 2014 at 7:07 pm

Line drive up the middle, yes… he is scoring. But from all of your time playing high school baseball you likely know that occasionally there are things called infield hits or throwing errors that drag a first baseman off the bag, thus allowing a runner to score from third who would not have been able to score from second.

Also, I believe that anyone who has played baseball from the high school level on up knows that your first priority is winning the game, not being concerned if someone else is watching a home run for too long, or stealing a base or bunting at the wrong time. Perhaps if Gomes put as much time into extra batting practice as he does into being Boston Strong and policing the unwritten rules of the game he would be putting up less embarrassing numbers.

      • May 26, 2014 at 7:33 pm

Imagine if our criminal justice system worked the same way baseball does. Sir, you’ve been convicted of a very serious crime. Now there’s no law against what you did, but it violates several unwritten laws that are policed by incompetent morons. See how dumb that sounds?

WAHH WAHHH YOU HEAR THAT?! IT’S THE WAHHMBULANCE WAHHH WAHH

you fucking douchebag. Every team should try to show up its opponent. It’s called SPORTS. Last I checked, there’s nothing wrong with stealing a base and trying to do better. I don’t hear your candy ass crying to let off when the Red Sox do kick ass. Remember when they beat the Rays 11-1? Maybe they should’ve let off then. You should hang up your letterman’s jacket. It doesn’t fit you anymore.

Did anyone tell Jonny Gomes to “Control yo’ Bitch” during this brawl?
