BuzzfeedOne student really mixed things up at his school’s spirit week. While most classmates dressed up in traditional costumes representing different cultural backgrounds for Culture Day, Josh Welch dressed up as a thief – representing white people stealing other cultures. Welch, a senior in Maryland, shared a photo of his costume on Twitter.

Dressed like a thief for culture day bc white people steal everyone else’s culture,” Welch captioned the photo. “I got the idea browsing the internet looking for a comedic outfit for a costume, and the idea just hit me,” Welch wrote.

“I’ve been taken aback by the criticism but the positive response has outweighed the negative,” Welch said.

“I’m a huge activist against social injustice and was shocked and glad my tweet had such a huge response!”

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – white people are the dumbest people on earth. Particularly SJW white Americans who turn their jeans into capris. They just try so hard to prove they’re one of the good ones. It’s their only reason for existence. They want to be patted on the back and told how brave they are for fighting social injustice. In reality you’re just a lazy kid who didn’t wanna come up with a real costume.

Anyway, anyone who buys into this whole “stealing cultures” or “cultural appropriation” bullshit is a moron. The argument is that white people like Bill Haley and the Comets “stole” rock n’ roll from Rhythm and Blues artists like Big Joe Turner. Which they blatantly did. Here’s Big Joe Turner’s original version of Shake Rattle n’ Roll:

But since he’s talking about “I’m gonna look at you till you ain’t no child no more,” and “I’m a one eyed cat peepin in a seafood store,” your average white mom in the 50’s would not approve of that. So Bill Haley and the Comets stole these songs, cleaned up the lyrics and wrote Joe Turner a check:

And??? What’s the problem with that? R&B was fun music. Were white people just supposed to be lame for eternity? Were they supposed to buy the records but not make the records?

When I turn on a Celtics game I don’t see many white guys out there. Yet they’re playing a game invented by a white guy at Springfield College. Did black people steal basketball from white people? Of course not. Because normal people share cultures. If black people created something that’s cool and fun then of course white people are gonna use it. If white people create something cool and fun then of course black people are gonna use it.

Plus, white people have invented tons of cool shit despite their lame culture. Ya know, like vaccines (which ironically hipster white people don’t want anymore), mass production, the printing press, cars, planes, fried dough, and democracy. Those things are all fun too, which is why so many people of non-white cultures partake in them. But I guess it’s only stealing when white people embrace the brilliance that other cultures have created. Got it.

And if stealing cultures is really a thing then is anyone more guilty than Asians? Granted, we eat a lot of Chinese food here. But we invented cars, and then they perfected it and took it over. We invented baseball, and then they started winning the Little League World Series. We invented computers, and then they started turning into Apple headquarters. But none of those things matter because white people are racist.

The bottom line is that it’s OK to dress up as a thief in order to make a joke (but not really a joke) that “all white people are thieves.” That’s fine because it’s OK to openly mock white people. But you’re not allowed to make jokes or mock anyone who isn’t white. Because……slavery. Got it.

Rap music was stolen from white people. Case in point, Blondie’s Rapture song.

Debbie Harry was so hot back in the day. Defiantly the first time I ever heard rap.

There were thousands of underground rappers in the 70s. Blondie didn’t make the first rap song. The first 2 commercialy successful rap songs were ” King Tim ” by MC Tim and ” Rapper’s Delight ” by The Sugarhill Gang. Both songs were released in 1979.

Notice how he poses with the black girl for his “publicity shot,” not the Greek girl, or the Asian girl, or the Nepali girl. Just the black girl, so he can be a REAL SJW.

And didn’t he get the SJW memo that by dressing in ALL BLACK as a thief, he is promoting the stereotype that “black” is a bad thing?

This kid is a little puke. He just wants to run with the crowd on this one so he takes the SJW stance, thinking it makes him sooooo humane. He is lazy. He will graduate from college because not going to college will probably mean he has to get a full time job. Then he will end up hugging a tree or some be some lardass dolt involved in Occupy Wall Street because he will be too self righteous to work for his fortune. He will just begrudge those who have worked for theirs.

So America is no longer the big melting pot? When did that change? I must have missed the memo.

Your music analogy reminded me of this Salon interview with Darryl Hall. I loved his responses:

    Q. One of the current debates is over “cultural appropriation” – The idea that white people should not appropriate the culture of ethnic and racial minorities. I know that you don’t like the term “blue eyed soul.” Have you followed this conversation?

    D. Are you trying to say that I don’t own the style of music that I grew up with and sing? I grew up with this music. It is not about being black or white. That is the most naïve attitude I’ve ever heard in my life. That is so far in the past, I hope, for everyone’s sake. It isn’t even an issue to discuss. The music that you listened to when you grew up is your music. It has nothing to do with “cultural appropriation.”

    Q. I agree with you entirely, because…

    D. I’m glad that you do, because anyone who says that should shut the fuck up.

    Q. Well, this entire critique is coming back…

    D. I’m sorry to hear it. Who is making these critiques? Who do they write for? What are their credentials to give an opinion like that? Who are they?

    Q. Much of it is academic.

    D. Well, then they should go back to school. Academia? Now, there’s a hotbed of idiocy.

    Q. Anyone who knows about music, about culture in general, understands that everything is much more natural. Everything is a mixture.

    D. We live in America. That’s our entire culture. Our culture is a blend. It isn’t split up into groups. Anyone who says otherwise is a fool – worse than a fool – a dangerous fool.

    Q. I also know that you don’t like the term “blue eyed soul”…

    D. No, and it is for this very reason. There is no color to soul. Soul music comes from the heart. It was generated out of the church, and it became secular gospel.

    Q. Ray Charles made that same point. He said the only difference between gospel and soul is that in one genre he sings to God, and in another, he sings to a woman.

    D. That’s right. That’s exactly it.
