Today was graduation day at Southern New Hampshire University, and The Valley Patriot’s Tom Duggan was there to see his daughter graduate. The this happened:

Yup, a Boston cop who was there to see his girlfriend graduate was turned away from the graduation because he was in uniform. Because…..I can’t even figure out the reasoning on this one. Is it because cops are evil, or because guns are evil? Hard to keep track these days. It just makes no sense. Sure, he’s not on the clock, but who wouldn’t want extra law enforcement personnel at an event with thousands of people?

Of course the answer is that college campuses have become so radicalized that both police and guns are the bad guys. This was anti-cop hysteria looks like. This is the state of college campuses right now. They kept this guy out because someone MIGHT complain that they were scared by the sight of a man in uniform with a firearm. And instead of telling these hypothetical weenies to pound sound they take steps before hand to make sure they don’t get triggered. I’d say SNHU is racist for keeping out a black guy in uniform, but that’s something SJWs would do, and unlike them we can make our point without playing the race card.

The bottom line is that SNHU should be ashamed and embarrassed. Guns aren’t the problem. Cops aren’t the problem. Dangerous assholes are the problem, and cops with guns eliminate these problems.

There’s something wrong with a person who wears his uniform in public when off duty. I’m surprised his department doesn’t slam him.

SNHU is countering this story with how a woman graduating brought her iPad to graduation with her hubby stationed in Hawaii, also graduating via live Skype. Maybe public servants can only “be there” via Skype?

As a retired former LEO, I cannot fathom why this guy would show up, out of jurisdiction, off-duty, in a uniform. I know most departments have a policy regarding off-duty wearing of a uniform. He may end up with a issue with the BPD. I always kept a civilian shirt, etc in my car at all times, in the event I needed to stop into the grocery store on the way home. My duty weapon never came home. I had a concealed off duty weapon under my civilian attire. If my duty weapon needed to come home, it was concealed.
It doesn’t excuse the college reaction to his uniformed presence, but certainly he could have avoided this had he planned ahead.

Did you carry a .38 revolver, Old Balls?
      May 13, 2018 at 10:07 am

Your duty weapon never came home with you? LOL. This ain’t Mayberry RFD, Barney. Most jurisdictions REQUIRE LEOs to carry off duty, service weapon or personal. Nice try, poseur. Do you get your info from watching Dragnet or Ironsides?

        Hey joker,
I never said the duty weapon didn’t come home. Did you read the post? I said I kept it CONCEALED if I brought it home. Most time, it was left in my locker. I carried a concealed off-duty weapon to and from work. Reading comprehension much? I never felt the need to showboat around off-duty in my uniform like a tugboat captain. Maybe you get a chubby doing it, but I was secure in myself that I never needed to show off. Yes,when I started we did carry revolvers. You were probably still in diapers…Old balls? Yeah, I suppose. 31 years on the job probably qualifies me for that jab. Barney Fife? Barney didn’t work for a 400+ man urban department. Nice try, though.

Who cares, they shouldn’t have kicked him out, that’s freaking ridicules. Maybe he’s new on the force, he’s probably proud of what he does and wanted to wear his dress uniform to his girlfriends graduation….who gives a shit what the reason is. When I was a boot in the military, I wore my dress blues to my girlfriends graduation. Further along, I would have never done that, but when your new, your proud, and that’s not a bad thing. We need cops in this country who take pride and care in what they do.

I agree it’s really weird, his g/f probably has a uniform fetish or something.
On the other hand if you can get that he is an active police officer in good standing with wouldn’t you want the free armed security?
Colleges are soft targets and graduation puts everyone in one place, perfect for a mass shooting. Why kick out someone who can shoot back?

I think you’re a bit off-base with this one TB. If the current culture of anti-cop/BLM hatred on campuses didn’t dissuade him, surely there is department policy prohibiting the wearing of a uniform off duty (as it was in the military when I was in).
In fact, by you publicizing this, you may have exposed him to discipline by the BPD.
Plus, Manchester is a bit out of the way from Boston for him to have been coming to/from work….

We don’t know if this officer was carrying. The graduation was held at SNHU Arena – which is NOT on campus. On the SNHU Arena website (under security and first aid):

Weapons of any kind to include, but not limited to, knives, guns, chains or clubs. No off duty law enforcement personnel are allowed in to the arena with a firearm and/or weapon of any kind.

SNHU Arena management reserves the right to make the final determination on prohibited items.

What cop with any shred of common sense would go anywhere in a full uniform and NOT have a service weapon on them? It is part of the uniform AND asking for trouble without it…..

Bad judgement call for this guy right here….

      May 13, 2018 at 5:11 pm

We don’t know the whole story. If he was, in fact, carrying any type of weapon, then he would not be allowed into the SNHU Arena (as per their security/rules on their website).

Everyone is jumping to conclusions. I would like to see more facts.

Not sure I understand why he was wearing his uniform to a graduation??

If this was some sicko who just dressed up as a police officer, was let in, and shot the place up, you’d all be saying “Why did they let some guy dressed as a Boston cop in? Didn’t they question that? Why would a Boston cop come to a SNHU graduation?
If this guy “just got off work” or had to go to work after, maybe he should have made arrangements to not work hours so immediately close to his girlfriend’s graduation. And he shouldn’t be “working a detail” either.
There are two reasons this guy showed up in uniform. 1. He was still on the clock with the BPD. (Did he arrive in his cruiser too?) 2. He wanted the attention. (Maybe his girlfriend’s family has never seen him in his uniform, and he wanted to show off?)
This guy is a douche for showing up in his BPD uniform. I’m also willing to bet that BPD policy has rules against him doing exactly that.

I don’t know, there seems like there’s more to this story. He was asked to leave …..because he is black (ridiculous)….. because he is a cop? I doubt it. There’s more to this story.

Actually, this is one instance where I would take this story at face value. Liberals and SJWs want to make the police the big bad boogie man, look what they did in Northampton, can’t have cops in schools giving kids high fives because we can’t risk the kids seeing cops as a positive influence! Nope, gotta promote the myth that cops make people “uncomfortable” (because “feelz” trump everything else). And additionally here, we can’t possibly have a black officer, that goes against every radical thing these colleges are trying to indoctrinate into the students!

You’re correct. It’s illegal to carry a gun on a college campus in NH. TB always talks about morons taking something posted on FB as pure fact. They probably told the off duty officer, who should have known he couldn’t carry on campus, that he couldn’t bring his weapon in.

If not on duty, then why go in uniform? He’s not in the service, so wearing it was just a cheap attempt to call attention to himself. I didn’t wear my McDonald’s uniform to my kid’s graduation.

You know what dickhead, how do we know if he didnt have detail later in the day or just got off work? There’ could be so many reasons, but you have to jump to the conclusion he dressed up to get attention?: Fucking dickhead, plain and simple. Maybe he just got off duty. Maybe after graduation he was about to go on duty. Maybe…..who gives a shtt the reasons, its entirely his right to wear his uniform. Its not fucking hard.

You *live near* SNHU so that makes you an expert and know all about living on campus? I think not. You have no clue what you are talking about and are nothing but a silly troll.
