We all knew there was a 150% chance Spanky McFarlane was gonna defend Mosaic Cultural Complex, even after it was proven in an audit that they, 1) haven’t paid any of their employees, 2) committed fraud by asking for reimbursement for their employees (who were never paid), 3) have’t produced a single person who has had their blood pressure tested there, 4) continue to operate illegally as a political action group by organizing illegal protests in the city, and 5) used an unapproved church on Hamilton Street as their “fiscal agent” to cash their checks from the city. Let’s check out Spanky’s ice cold takes from his column today:

Mosaic is not a fraudulent organization; at least a city audit found no evidence that the social service organization willfully tried to defraud anyone in its partnerships with 10 other organizations implementing a grant-funded initiative to improve community health in the city.

Clive, I know you’re not the brightest bulb, so let me break it down for you. Here is exhibit A:

12191994_10205327647406996_4480978520548776402_n

Notice they are requesting REIMBURSEMENT for their workers, including Michael Jerry, Keefe LaPorte, and Brenda Jenkins. To be reimbursed for something, it means you must have paid for something first. If the company I work for reimburses me for meals, it means I pay for the meal first, present the receipts to the company, and then they write me a check for the costs. But Mosaic was denied the reimbursement because they couldn’t prove any of these frauds actually worked. And it turns out in the audit, that they never got paid by Mosaic. How can you get reimbursed for something that you haven’t already paid for? Oh yea, you can’t. But yet here they are telling the city that they paid these people already and would like to be reimbursed for it. That’s a lie. That’s fraud.

This audit was demanded by City Councilor Michael Gaffney on behalf of himself and those in the community who saw Mosaic, a black-controlled nonprofit organization, as a sister organization of the Black Lives Matter campaign.

Clive playing the race card? Shocking. Look, we’ve been over this a million times before. The only people who play the race card are people who have run out of other cards to play. No one cares the color of the skin of the people running Mosaic. But we do care when we pay for them to exist, they don’t perform services they are required to, and then they block our streets and call us racist. Michael Gaffney and Gary Rosen didn’t do this on behalf of themselves. They did it on behalf of the taxpayers and decent, law abiding citizens everywhere.

Here again, there is no evidence that the organization itself promotes any political agenda, but this is immaterial to those wanting to delegitimize the campaign for social justice in this city.

HAHHAHAHAHHAHAA. There is no evidence that they promote a political agenda. Wow, that’s rich. Newsflash Spanky – the fact that they got political is what drew attention to them in the first place. They could’ve kept stealing our money and getting away with it and no one would’ve noticed. But they just couldn’t resist protesting for political purposes. And not just regular protesting. Oh no, they had to stand in the middle of traffic and “shut it down.” This is how they got caught promoting a political agenda:

Screen-Shot-2015-10-23-at-10.45.15-PM Screen-Shot-2015-10-23-at-10.36.51-PM 11720556_10204748684813293_2064859689_n-2-2 Screen-Shot-2015-10-23-at-10.08.16-PM Screen-Shot-2015-10-23-at-10.46.08-PM 11719862_10204748277643114_1550103720_n-2

I would LOVE to hear Spanky explain to me how none of this is political. Particularly when it has the blessing of a political leader in the city.

It is somewhat telling that the forces that coddle and defend racist policies within the criminal justice system are the same ones pushing to rub out an organization whose purpose is to help cure some of the ills created by racism.

Wait….what??? Mosaic cures racism??

According to a 2015 paper published in the Annual Review of Clinical Psychology, which looked at the impact of discriminatory experiences on the health of an individual, racial discrimination in housing, community policing and health care treatment not only persists, but has a crippling affect on the health of the victims. Experiences of discrimination, the paper highlighted, “are a form of stress that can have serious implications for mental and physical health, ranging from depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder to all-cause mortality and hypertension.”

So let me get this straight. People in Worcester are being discriminated against in housing, health care, and policing. This then makes them sick which causes them to suffer from stress, anxiety, PTSD, and hypertension. Thus we need Mosaic to fix all these things!!!???

HAHAHAHHAHHAA. Might be the funniest thing I’ve ever read anywhere. Holy shit, where did he come up with that one? Rest assured everyone – your money is being spent well. All those racist landlords who won’t rent to people of color, and all those doctors who won’t treat people of color, and all those police officers unfairly arresting people of color have created a lot of serious issues. Luckily Mosaic is fixing all of them by providing a service that CVS will do for free. Sure, they have yet to name a single person who has had their blood pressure tested there, but that doesn’t matter. And all it costed us $300,000 over a period of two years.

This is the leap that the Mosaic backers are making. Everyone’s racist and it’s causing psychological diseases that Mosaic fixes. This is what they want us to believe. This is what they think the city should be spending money on. Not schools, or roads, or policing, or giving the firefighters a new contract. Nope. Just give money to Mosaic so they can fix all the overt racism that is giving people of color PTSD, stress, anxiety, and hypertension.

Unlike others in the partnership, for example, Mosaic was unable to pay employees prior to receiving grant reimbursement funds. As a result, it was unable to pay its employees in a timely fashion.

Once again, according to Mosaic, they already paid these employees and want REIMBURSEMENT:

12191994_10205327647406996_4480978520548776402_n

Oops!!

The agency maintains that on previous grants it has always been allowed to submit time sheets before paying its employees. According to the auditor, this grant requires them to pay employees before submitting time sheets.

So let me get this straight. They’re supposed to pay their employees before getting reimbursed, but they’ve been getting away with breaking the rules in the past, therefore they should be allowed to continue to break the rules going forward. Makes perfect sense Spanky!!!

You can find out all you need to know about Mosaic by lookin at who is defending them and then look at who thinks they need to go the way of the Dodo bird. Mosaic’s detractors are taxpaying citizens who have were born and raised in Worcester. Their supporters are leeches and racists like RBG, Mike Jerry, Nathan Pickens, and Deb Powers. Oh yea, and the only people defending them online are these two idiots and Dana Remian via the alias “Aslan King”:

Sean Duro is a rich white kid who goes to Northeastern:

Screen Shot 2015-10-26 at 10.07.14 AM

So obviously he’s well versed in racial issues. Must be nice to go to Northeastern. I’m just a guy from Worcester who could only afford to go to state school, so obviously I’m not enlightened as this social justice warrior with zero attachment to the city.

Then there’s the other genius:

Screen Shot 2015-10-26 at 10.11.09 AM

Ah yes, defending Mosaic from Nottingham, New Hampshire. Here’s a guy who went out of his way to move AWAY FROM black people to one of the whitest states in the country, doesn’t pay taxes in Massachusetts, and calls us racist for not wanting our tax dollars to go to these charlatans. This is the face of the Mosaic defenders:

Nuff said.

The Telegram doesn’t even try to hide their bias anymore. Yesterday they gave a digital HJ to the Godfather himself – Jim McGovern. You either love McGovern or hate him. Look, I recognize the fact that the man is an influential guy in Washington who brings home the bacon. He’s good at what he does and understands how Washington works. But they failed to point out the most significant part of Mr. McGovern’s legacy – he has complete control over politics in Worcester. He decides who will be mayor. He appointed Tim Murray to head the Chamber of Commerce. And HE is one of Mosaic’s biggest defenders:

It doesn’t have to be this way though. You have a chance to make your voice heard loud and clear at the polls next Tuesday. It’s not enough to just vote for Michael Gaffney for Mayor. We need to take this whole system down. Tracy Novick, Jack Foley, Hilda Ramirez, John Monfredo, Sarai Rivera, Tony Economou – they all gotta go. We need new faces in there who can give us our city back. It’s not enough for just YOU to vote the Turtleboy Ticket. We need you to tell your mother, father, uncle, aunt, grandma, cousin, or whoever else you know that doesn’t go on the Internet and doesn’t read Turtleboy Sports and thus doesn’t know about this fraud. Everyone find three people today who don’t know about this stuff and get them to vote for Mike Gaffney. We can do this. We can take our city back from these hucksters.

Vote the TBS ticket:

City Council: Gaffney, Konnie Lukes, Rob Sargent

School Committee: Nicola D’Andrea, Donna Colorio, Brian O’Connell

D1: Cindy Nguyen

D4: Jackie Kostas

D5: Gary Rosen

I had the same thought. It’s very easy for someone to post a comment like that to support their accusation that TBS readers are all a bunch of racist hicks.

I was gonna say that the 2015 paper on racism is true: I was stressed out by being discriminated against and accused of being racist for no reason and all the blocked traffic. Then a comment like georges throws all TB riders credibility right out the window. Nice job dickhead

Funny how ol Race Bait Clive didnt mention any of the NUMEROUS violations that will most likely get Mosaic’s 501c3 (that they dont currently have) yanked. Bad books, not providing services, politcal rallies in violation of tax free status, not paying employees….

ya, but its all about whitey holding Mosaic down. good call Clive. no wonder the TnG has gone to shit with fewer and fewer readers and clicks every yr.

A racist read and commented here, so therefore this blog is racist?

So if the same thing happened with the Globe, would that make them racist too?

Can someone explain why” M. Boone” is listed on invoices as charging this non-profit for $4700.00? Is this the same M. Boone who is the highest paid public employee in the City charging Mosaic for 137 hours of work? Is she giving blood pressure readings now?

I posed that same question awhile back. Apparently this is a different, unrelated M. Boone.

Pretty sure if Melinda was double-dipping off the city coffers, TB would have already raised a stink.

Wow, Clive could learn from TB what real journalism and integrity is about. TB laid out facts & evidence …….. I believe TB has proven his point. No wonder the T&G is going out of business …….

Real simple…..Vote for Mike Gaffney for Mayor …Time to clean house, like a good fall cleaning, and get the old dust and cobwebs out of City Hall and start fresh!!!!! This old school, cliquey shit has got to end. I have lived in Worcester my entire life and want new faces and change…And transparentcy..No more hidden going-ons. I’m so sick of what has happened to this once really nice city. I hope the citizens of Worcester will finally say enough..

The AG should investigate. Or DOJ for tax fraud.

So, a city audit sort of clears Mosaic? Then we need a state audit. A Federal audit would be nice, but under the current administration that’s not going to happen. Maybe a RICO investigation would help.
