Spenser Tarentino’s Eulogy At His Dad’s Funeral Was The Most Amazing Thing You Will Ever See

The speech that 18 year old Spenser Tarentino gave at his father’s funeral today will leave you speechless. I dare you to sit through all 4:24 of this and not bawl your eyes off:

That was the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen. Jesus H. Christ, the strength it must’ve taken to do that. I didn’t think he was gonna make it after the first 15 seconds, but he did. I’ve seen people speak at their loved ones funerals before, but I’ve never seen someone keep their composure like that, even though it was clear he was fighting it the entire time. And his brother to his right stood there the whole time, with a straight face, honoring his Dad, as his older brother comforted him and helped him through the speech.

Wow. Just wow. And the content of the speech too. Safe to say that this is the line that everyone will remember from it:

13268605_10154282896799445_8377709727127901845_o

You said it all kid. They don’t get enough respect. I’m sure Ron Tarentino came home from work frustrated plenty of times before. I’m sure his wife got an earful from time to time, like any other spouse whose significant gets frustrated at work. But it didn’t stop him from putting on the uniform and chugging away, because it was his calling.

But seriously, the moment at the end when he finishes the speech and they walk off the stage and he hugs his Mom. Powerful stuff right there. I’m sorry that this had to happen to their family and I wish I never heard this speech, but I know I’ll never forget it. If there’s anything Turtleboy can EVER do for the Tarentino family down the road, please don’t be afraid to reach out to us. If you’re doing a fundraiser or something like that in his memory six months from now, let us know and we’ll promote it.

God bless this family.

I started bawling just looking at the photos and reading the blog. I don’t think I can watch the video or I might not be able to stop crying the rest of the day. Rest in peace, Officer Tarantino. You leave behind a wonderful family and I thank you for that.

Such an amazing, classy, sweet, honest family. Officer Tarintino & his wife obviously did a great job teaching their children respect, courage, and compassion. These children are going places, sadly without their dad, but I’m confident he’s watching over them smiling, happy that he did a great job raising three wonderful children. As a community, we have come together to offer them support, and I only hope we continue to rally around them in the days to come. I agree, he should be in a position of political office at some point in the future. He’s a true example of how all of us should treat eachother during troubled times. Thank you TB for sharing!

Amazing, kid came across like he was 35 years old. One can see it’s a winner family and his late father was a large part of their upbringing. RIP.

Of all the great postings/articles that Turtleboy has done (and there have been a million) This one gets the nod as the best. Who the fuck cries reading a local blog I ask? Answer: I just did. Wimpy me I know. God bless the Tarentino family.

Thank you Turtle and all others that give a fuck… Bob.

What do you mean is nothing sacred? It was nationally televised. They are saying how awesome these people are and praising a family who raised their children well. This family is an all american family… If there were more people like this the world would be a better place. And if you didn’t read the whole article this site offered to help the family even when other supporters dwindle. Take it easy.

May I humbly suggest that Spencer Tarentino run for political office at any level, one day. He has the goods, no doubt, after seeing this video and reading about his meetings this week with his teachers. I’m sure he’ll succeed in whatever life path he chooses, but having his common sense & humanitarian vote in the legislature would be a legacy of which his dad would be very proud.

Clearly Spencer is far too smart for politics.

There is no better legacy you can leave this Earth than your children. Officer Tarentino has three sons. One in dress blues, a high school senior far beyond his years and his youngest son. Watching this glimpse into their lives you can see he was raising boys to grow up to be great men. His greatness was behind them pushing him forward – now it is in front of them pulling them towards it. All three of these boys will continue to grow as great men.

Is nothing sacred? Going out of your way to inject yourself in this story-to try to make yourself out to be the biggest supporter of the victimized-makes you an asshole. Are you a cop? No. Did you join the military, no. Waving your American flag and writing stories from the spare bedroom you call and office are things you do for yourself, not to benefit any of the victims here. Get a life.

    • May 27, 2016 at 10:20 pm

It must suck to have such a negative outlook on life. We thought this video was sad, touching, and inspiring. But I guess putting that in print means we are injecting ourselves into this? OK. Have a nice weekend anyway.

Sara M. I think you jumped the gun on your comment. Unless one of the Tarentino boys said they had a problem with TB, or any of the other media outlets for that matter, posting this – you have absolutely no right to assume otherwise.

Furthermore, if you actually watched the video, Spenser obviously wanted the message to be LOUD and CLEAR!

Turtleboy Sports is making sure that ALL those responsible for officer Tarentinos death are punished – more so than any other outlet. They respectfully showed this emotional speach because it matters.

I don’t know why your life sucks so much that u don’t understand this, Sara M. but you should do a little more home work before jumping to such rash conclusions.

Obama is thinking of him, in Japan, hey Dems care for all the dead in duty, be it fascist Japanese or Germans, or some lowly cop killed by one of his second chance society home boys, hey you voted for this, live with it, you know you will let it happen again, just like you want.

wow u fuck. go back to the gutter. nobody wants to hear your racist bullshit about pretend crap. You’re blatantly disrespecting Officer Tarentiho’s family by spewing your poison all over this blog.

Go to hell, go fuck yourself, and don’t come back unless you’d like to contribute something meaningful to this blog. You dumb fuck.

I listened to the service- yes heartbreaking- but it really brings home the sort of person Officer Tarentino was, the men hes been raising and his wife- a complete pillar of strength. As heart breaking as it is- and this really hits ME because my cousin used to be the chief in this town. I wish so much that a- this guy wasnt a complete fkn scum bag and b- if I was closer- if I wasnt a mile away- if I couldnt have done something more. The bravery it took to run out there is extraordinary- they did amazingly well but knowing what to do in a crisis can make a difference. Even if nothing couldve saved him- if he wasnt heard. Now I hear that the state denied vests for our cops by the state house. We need to do something NOW!

The state put the money back into the budget for the vests.
