Supervised injection sites for heroin addicts and junkies alike coming to a town near you.

You read that right! We are going to be offering junkies a safe space to get high. How lovely. You know what would be great? If the place is furnished with leather sofa’s and beautiful cherry wood coffee tables. We can hire people who dress fancy and carry Narcan around on a silver platter and offer them to the junkies like cheese and grapes at wedding you wish you weren’t attending because there isn’t an open bar. Who the fuck has the audacity to do such a thing? If I have to listen to love songs from the 90’s, I want to do it while I’m drunk and too fucked up to care. Alas…

From NBC Boston:

“The increasing number of opioid overdoses in Massachusetts has prompted doctors to call for state-run injection sites in an attempt to combat the use of drugs.

You know what would combat the use of drugs? Making the right choices. I don’t know maybe thinking something along the lines of, “Hey, I don’t feel like putting this needle in my blown out vein today…” kind of choice. If you need multiples tourniquets to get your veins going, it’s time to call it quits.

Over the weekend, members of the Massachusetts Medical Society voted 193-21 in favor of Supervised Injection Facilities (SIF), which essentially allow drug users to shoot up while under the supervision of medical professionals.

Great. Let’s put our medical professionals in more danger, and also let’s hold them responsible if an addict dies on their watch. What if the medical professional is tied up taking care of too many people at once? Then let’s say an addict dies because they were given a bad batch… How would that medical professional feel? Talk about placing a serious amount of pressure on individuals who already work hard enough without watching a bunch of adults like they are children not capable of watching themselves, because that’s really what this is here. It’s essentially an adult daycare for heroin users.

“You have to stay alive to get better,” said Dr. Barbara Herbert, an addiction specialist.

Over the last decade, Herbert has found that people often die before they can even seek help. Monitoring the use, in her opinion, is better than potentially losing a life.

They die before they can seek help because they don’t want to seek help. Every person should be held responsible for their choices in life. One has the ability to choose their own path in life, and if that path leads to a road of destruction, the person walking needs to take responsibility for their own steps. Without personal responsibility comes the inability for an addict to get the help they need.

“The idea that someone would show up and inject in front of me is not an appealing idea,” Herbert explained, “But the idea that they would go two blocks away and die is so much worse.”

It’s hard for me to have compassion for people who make the choice to ruin their own lives. I know some people reading this will say that I would think differently if I had a family member or friend who struggled with addiction; you’re wrong. The truth is, this is an epidemic and most people know someone who is addicted to drugs. I don’t feel bad for them at all, not one bit. Some people will say that’s lack of compassion, I would say it’s being a realist. People who die of cancer or in tragic ways don’t have the choice to change their destiny; addicts do. I feel compassion for people who are losing their lives for reasons beyond their control. I do not feel compassion for people who make a conscious choice to ruin their own lives.

According to a report from the society’s House of Delegates, the facilities have worked in other countries where they are allowed to operate. For example, in Vancouver, Canada, they have led to a 35 percent reduction in overdoses and a 30 percent increase in users seeking treatment.

However, in order to operate in Massachusetts, the legislature would need to act to make it legal.

Let’s hope for once Massachusetts gets it right. Let’s spend on things of importance. Throwing money into a pit filled with people who repeat an endless cycle of horrible life choices is not my idea of dispersing funds responsibly.

“I need to take a look at that one. I’m not familiar with it,” said Gov. Charlie Baker on Monday.

In other words, “I am too afraid to voice my opinion because if I disagree, I will be lynched by a mob of people who think addicts should be top priority in this state.” Wuss.

But the idea is not entirely new in the state.

Last year, the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program established a “safe room” for addicts to come to while they are under the influence. SPOT, or the Supportive Place for Observation and Treatment, allows users to live out their high while under the supervision of medical professionals.

“We are finding that it’s an effective way to get people into treatment, but it also doesn’t go far enough,” said Dr. Jessie Gaeta, who helped create the space.

Oh sweet Lord. I can’t believe a place like this exists. It’s absolutely ridiculous. Listen, when I get drunk the last thing I want to do is be around people who tell me I shouldn’t be drinking so much. Who are they to judge my weekend adventures? Yes, that’s a double shot glass sitting next to a Mexican mudslide and a corona. Yes, I mix my liquors… Shut the fuck up and let me get white girl wasted in peace. I don’t care how my liver feels at the moment, I’m numb, drunk, and very happy. I couldn’t imagine being in a room where people were trying to convince me to sober up, I would be so angry… Liquor isn’t free ya know. Let me get my monies worth. To think an addict, who RELIES on feeling high would ever want to be in a room like that is beyond my understanding.

While lawmakers on Beacon Hill might not be sold on the idea at the moment, there is already a proposal on the table to establish a framework for such a facility in the future.”

I hope the proposal gets put into a paper shredder; twice.

If you’re interested on the T&G article discussing this ridiculous proposal, click here. I didn’t want to counter argue the article because it’s just too much snowflake for me to handle. I would start to get annoyed and say very mean things. I’m trying to learn how to be nice (I’m fucking lying obviously) but shame on T&G for publishing this article and essentially agreeing that addicts need a safe space is absolutely ridiculous. Hey T&G, where was your Happy Father’s Day write up? I guess Father’s who work hard to support their family are not as important as an addict being able to have an all inclusive, narcan included stay at an establishment where they are taken care of hand in foot.

This isn’t Weekend At Bernie’s (if you have never watched this movie, shame on you!) no medical professional wants to deal with a dead body the way Larry and Richard had to do all weekend. It’s a nuisance, and quite frankly, would probably end up being impossible to maneuver once rigor mortis sets in. Filmmakers swear we don’t use logic.

Alas, I have veered off course again… If addicts want to shoot up, they know the risks. Isn’t free narcan enough? Why do they need a place to shoot up safely? Do you think an addict cares about being safe? if they did, they wouldn’t be doing drugs. How do you advertise a place like this anyway? Would it be, “Want to get high and resurrected by a staff member if you end up overdosing? Want to press the limits, and take more drugs than you normally would because there is someone watching over your safety? Come to Addict Adventures located on Cedar Street in Fitchburg!” Can you imagine? What a beautiful clubhouse that would be.

So are these people supposed to just stay there after they shoot up? Whats the time frame here? Do they shoot up and wait a little while then go back out on the street once its clear they wont die… What if one of these people happens to have a vehicle around the corner, gets high and then drives off… This is ridiculous. Our public restrooms already have used needle containers in them.

Don’t you think it’s time for drug dealers to have a “safe haven” to sell drugs too. Maybe we should set this up right next to the “supervised injection sites”. Drug dealers shouldn’t have to live in fear of being arrested. These scum of the earth should have a safe place to sell their poison. Why is it that the junkies are getting all the attention? By the way, I agree with just your average nurse!!!

I agree that addiction is a compilation of bad life decisions, maybe deep depression and weakness. July 2, 2013 at 8:00 am. I had the most intrusive and dangerous surgery of my life that lasted 6 hours. After coming out of anesthesia and morphine drips, I was prescribed Hydrocodone otherwise known as Vicodin. I forget the mgs. But for two months every two hours I had to pop those sons of bitches for pain relief.

When the pain stopped I stopped taking that bizarro stuff and threw away what was left that I had. I was singing 60s music in my head for God sake. Why throw away some may ask? Because I like to know what the hell is going on around me plus I know it is a serious narcotic. Never looked back on that stuff but it was necessary at the time. Then dialed it down to a six pack and a bag of chips for the great escape. True story.

You are all a bunch of uneducated pieces of shit. I hope Karma is good to you all. What if one of your children turned into one of these “Junkies”? No matter how well you raised them to make the right choices? I hope they do. So you can endure the pain other parents feel when no matter they have done or said, won’t matter. For real, would you turn your back on your very own child? Would you give them enough money so they can go out and die? You sick, twisted, disgusting humans. In fact, y’all are far more disgusting than any “Junkie” out there.

LET THEM DIE! If we don’t, we’ll be paying for their mistakes forever, even if they get “clean”.

Every day, driving through Worcester, I see help wanted signs. Why? Because there are so many junkies, and none of them even apply for these jobs because they know they won’t get one.
So we’ll end up supporting them for the rest of their lives after they get declared “disabled”. If we let them die early from their own poor choices, we can use the money we would have used on them for better reasons.

Sometimes when I see people begging on corners I think “maybe if I give this person enough money, he or she will OD and die and get the hell off the planet”. I might just do that, and tell them I do want them to OD and go to hell. That would be a very good use of my money, if I could be sure they’d do it!

I don’t understand why you guys think that this is just a place addicts can go to hang out and get high! That is NOT the sole purpose of this! The shit going around out there, yes it will kill you before you ever have the AHA moment of “I want to get help”. The idea of these sites and sole purpose is for people who want to get help. They go there and yes they get high under supervison, but they go to wait for a bed to open. This isn’t a hangout. I always enjoy reading your articles, I read them everyday. But as an addict in recovery, seeing this one has made me incredibly sad. Please educate yourself on what the sites real purpose is. Once again, I guess nobody will understand unless they have been an addict themselves.

Most of these addle-brained losers aren’t going to use the Drug Cave anyway, next we’ll be taking their “bad” heroin and giving them “good” heroin, and there is no such thing as a recovering addict. There are only addicts. Once an addict always an addict it’s just a matter of whether they can keep their head out of their ass long enough to not ever do it again.
This is a dumber idea than the the friggin Horse Cops in Worc.
How many more ways can we waster taxpayers money?

Yep. Our infrastructure is a decrepit mess, our schools are generally underfunded – let’s give a bunch of druggies (who know drugs are bad for them before they took their first hit, because EVERYONE FUCKING KNOWS BYVTHIS POINT) a place to OD on my tax dollars!

    UnFuckingBelievable!!! What a STUPID idea!

Let’s allow people with a “Disease” (Which they chose) to break the law legally. Let’s force taxpayers to continue providing free Narcan, cozy accommodations, and now FREE nursing services! WTF? Meanwhile, let’s continue to overcharge health insurance premiums for our elders and tax the hell outta “Normal” working class families that make good choices in life!

I hope my fellow nurses/med profs are aware to increase their private Liability insurance. I smell a shitstorm of lawsuits on the horizon. Who’s the idiot that came up with this plan?

Here’s my plan…………. ACCOUNTABILITY. KNOW IT. OWN IT. AND STFU!!!

The solution is quite simple. If you have an epidemic of rats running around, what do you do? Poison them. All that is needed is for an undercover DEA agent to buy up as much of the supply as possible, add some ricin to the batches, and redistribute. The epidemic is squashed. No more addicts. Very simple and easy. Put the miserable population out of its misery. Humane. Clean slate. Fresh start. And then do it again randomly. When the addicts that are currently incarcerated get out, they will be playing russian roulette where narcan will not be helpful. You’re welcome in advance and I’ll accept the Nobel Prize now.

Forgiving and helping is one thing. This would enable them to continue their behavior and cost taxpayers more money. Why do hard working people consistently have to prop up the scum who don’t want anything to do with being sober and clean?

Teach a junkie to fish and he sells the fishing equipment to buy a bag of dope. Give a junkie a “safe heroin shooting gallery” and you have created an open market to buy, sell, trade, drugs, prostitution, commit robberies… and ruin the safety and quality of life of anyone who lives, works, walks, drives or parks nearby.

Ugh. Sickening. I usually like your blog but this one has some heinous statements in it. For example this one says it all….

“To think an addict, who RELIES on feeling high would ever want to be in a room like that is beyond my understanding”

Thats right… you DONT understand. Unless you’ve been an addict you couldn’t possibly. You say they only care about getting high so why would they want to be around people telling them not to get high? Thats addiction. Your body is telling you I NEED THIS DRUG even if your mind and voice are crying out for help… and so now you’ll probably say they shouldn’t have touched it in the first place? Well some of your statements suggest you’re on the verge of becoming an alcoholic. If alcohol becomes illegal are you going to stop drinking? I highly doubt you would or could with some of the things you’ve said. You do lack compassion but I guess that doesnt bother you. I can only hope that all you big tough turtleboy bloggers actually do feel bad for some of the people you bash sometimes when you lay your head down at night. If you dont well, your karma is coming. Someone will eventuallly find out who all you anonymous people are and will expose all your dirty secrets and you know what your readers will do? Laugh at you. Because you guys teach them to find peoples struggles hilarious.

    • June 20, 2017 at 8:51 am

My goodness gracious what a long post I almost want to take 3 shots of vodka just to get through it. In no way shape or form will I ever be an alcoholic because I’m not weak minded. I don’t drink to drown sadness I drink because I enjoy the taste of alcohol on my tongue while I write blogs and upset people like you. It’s a substitute for tasting your tears, feel blessed.

I also sleep very soundly at night. When I lie my head down on a pillow I’m not thinking about anything other than getting some really good sleep on my cozy bed. I have never felt guilty for anything I’ve ever said in my life, that’s just the cunt in me.

“Thats right… you DONT understand. Unless you’ve been an addict you couldn’t possibly.”

Other things my unenlightened mind cannot possibly understand:
      1) The pain of sticking live crayfish up my ass
      2) The discomfort of doing shots of Drano
      3) The torture of plucking out my eyeball with needle nose pliers
      4) The agony of participating in a razor blade eating contest
      5) The throbbing after purposely dropping 50-dumbbells on my bare toes
      6) The grief after masturbating using a cheese grater
      7) The sorrow of putting my hand in a blender while it is set to puree
      8) The anguish of cannon balling into an empty in-ground pool
      9) The horrors of dropping live electrical appliances into the tub while bathing
      10) The ordeals of covering myself in honey, then sunbathing while lying on ant hills

I feel bad for the person who was made a junkie by their doctor, until they go black market. This coddling of little Timothea is making matters way worse.
Want to stop the problem? Easy.
Rehab should be cold turkey, let the withdrawals teach them their lesson.
Narcan- 1 per customer, the 2nd OD nets criminal charges.
You deal the shit you get jail. No plea, no rehab, just 8×12 for 1 month per dose.

So what? Is it the bartender or package store clerk’s fault if you’re an alcoholic? If you’re weak you’ll become an addict. If you’re strong minded you won’t. YOU make the choice. Darwinism in action.

If you’re a Dr. that is a pill pusher, then you should be locked up like any drug dealer. Problem is these docs are typical libs that see the advantage (to them and their agenda) in creating addicts and dependents. Damage is done and then these vampires open clinics to profit off the “treatment” of the addicts they enabled/created in the first place.

So let’s just make it easier (& legal) all around, right? That will help the problem, right? How have we let liberals and evil turn the whole world upside down? And they’ve done it without firing a shot. It would actually be pretty impressive if it weren’t for what’s inevitably coming – and you “independent thinkers” will be the most deserving to suffer the consequences.

Society is circling the drain. Hope you’re prepared for when karma catches up to you.

But you are going to have to provide the junkies with the dope they shoot themselves up with because if they bring in bad stuff of the street and die, their family will hold the state liable.

The medical and pharmaceutical industries are to blame for this epidemic by overprescribing dangerous narcotics and then cutting people off after they became addicted.
