They can’t blame this one on the dog.

The manager of New Hampshire T.J. Maxx ordered a survivor of the Boston Marathon bombing to put her service dog in a cart or get out, stunning the 19-year-old who relies on her new best friend as she recovers from the attack.

“He’s crucial to my everyday life,” Sydney Corcoran told NewsCenter 5.

Corcoran suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of the April 2013 bombing that left her bloodied and lying in a hospital near her mother, Celeste, who lost both legs in the deadly explosion.

The mother and daughter’s courageous, ongoing recovery has been an inspiration in the year since the attack, but the manager of the Nashua, N.H., retail store wasn’t about to let Sydney Corcoran shop in peace, even though her dog Koda was clearly identifiable as a service animal.

“He had on his service dog vest — bright blue, says ‘service dog’ all over it,” Sydney Corcoran told NewsCenter 5. “The store manager came over to me and said to me, ‘If you want to keep your dog in the store, you have to put him in the carriage.’”

The shaken teen left the store and called her mother.

The manager later apologized, but Celeste Corcoran said the damage is done.

“(The manager) said, ‘I’m sorry.’ And I said, ‘That’s not good enough. You should have known,’” the protective mom told NewsCenter 5. “You just made someone with an emotional disorder so much worse.”

T.J. Maxx also released a statement, apologizing for the incident and vowing to take steps to ensure employees follow the law to admit service animals.

Surprisingly a lot of people are actually saying that this girl is overreacting. Actually it’s not surprising. She’s from Boston. This is pretty consistent with everyone hating Boston every chance they get. They gave us all sympathy for a week or two but now their true colors are showing:

I’m usually the first to call foul when someone overreacts and runs to the media, but this isn’t the case here. Look, I’m kind of confused why someone needs a poodle to deal with psychological trauma from the marathon bombing. But ya know what? She gets the benefit of the doubt. Period. She watched her mother’s legs get blown off. Unless you had the same thing happen to you then you don’t get to have an opinion about whether or not she needs this dog.

And what was the person working at TJ Maxx thinking? How was this one going to end? If someone says their dog is for PTSD, then just let them in. Go back to making sure all the mediums aren’t mixed in with the XL’s, because for me this is the number one problem with stores like TJ Maxx, not service poodles. You can’t possibly be paid enough to give a shit. Instead of making a federal case out of this why didn’t the moron just go on with their life? They’re the ones who made a federal case out of this, not the girl. What’s the worst that could happen? The dog takes a big steamy dump on the floor? Not your fault. What were you supposed to do? Deny access to a person with a trained service dog?

This is just another example of people being unable to use common sense. The rules are rules crowd would be the people I want to be in the arena with if I ever have to fight in the Hunger Games. They don’t think, they just do as they’re told. Sure, some times you have to follow rules. But as human beings we have these amazing machines in our heads that let us evaluate all sorts of different solutions and possible outcomes. We can think – why is this a rule? What happens if I allow this rule to be broken? But nope. Morons just do as they’re told.

Feel free to share your thoughts to keep the conversation going.

A couple weeks ago I had to kick a woman and her dog out of my place of employment. A restaurant. And the fat, stupid fuck did not see any issue with leaning over so the dog’s tail could wag against the drink station. As I’m standing there telling this land whale that she needs to leave because she’s breaking the law, she’s just giving me an attitude. Here are some of the gems, quoted verbatim.

“It’s not like it’s a pit bull. I don’t see what the big deal is. I’m just refilling my drink!”

“Well, nobody told me!” (stated when I told her it’s a violation of the health code to have a dog in a food service establishment. Apparently the signs reading “No shirt, no shoes, no pets.” on every single door weren’t enough for her.)

“Are you the manager? You’re being really fucking rude!” (My response to this gem was that I really don’t have to be polite when she’s breaking the law and refusing to leave.)

Suffice it to say, I eventually got the sea cow and her yappy rat out of the lobby. I ceased any pretense of courtesy after asking and being told that it wasn’t a service dog. Frankly she should be happy I didn’t just call the cops.

Too many people think they can bring their dogs everywhere. She’s just being unreasonable.
