In light of all the crazy shit that’s been going on at Worcester North High School the school committee meeting was jam-packed tonight with teachers from all sorts of Worcester Public Schools. There was literally nowhere to sit.

Apparently school committee meetings are a hot ticket in the Woo.

So the whole theme of the meeting was safety at North High – in particular whether or not the school should have police officers and camera surveillance. I honestly don’t even know how this is even debatable. Here’s some North High trivia for you.

Question: How many vice principals have been punched in the face by students this year?

Answer: All of them.

Debate over.

Melinda Boone got up there and spoke first. And she spoke, and spoke, and spoke. Because that’s what politicians do. They talk because for them it’s therapeutic. It justifies their existence. She started bragging about how many kids she’s suspended from North and basically blamed the state for not allowing her to suspend more kids. I’m not even shitting you. She pretended like she was Sheriff Badass, enforcer of law and order, hamstrung by the wussy government who won’t let her lay the smack down more often.

She had some other memorable quotes too. Like this one:

“I have never, ever shied away from the difficult issues…I have been upfront, outfront, and honest about everything”

Definitely. You were so upfront about vice principal Bruce O’Connell getting punched in the face that it took a scathing report from Turtleboy Sports in order for you to do something about it.

“I want to commend those here who committed to the work” of improving graduation”

….Because it led to a big ass raise for me!!

“at what point do we get back to being able to talk about the student who has early acceptance at WPI and those who are waiting for acceptances from Ivy League schools”

I would say once we got a couple weeks without a faculty member being assaulted. That would be a good start.

Then Mayor Petty, got up there and said a bunch of cliches for a good 12 minutes. Please tell me what any of this is supposed to mean:

“Students should be proud of that school. Teachers safety is paramount also; we need to provide the right resources. We have put other resources up there: I thank the support of the City Manager. This is a team effort….we need to work to get it right. We need a few weeks just to break the cycle….people are working hard at that school to make it better. There has to be a solid plan for students, teachers and parents. We hold people accountable to make sure this job gets done. Parents and community supported need to be engaged. The plan has to be nimble, has to be adjustable. Someday when we’re ready we should have a parent-teacher meeting, and have an open discussion.”

Ya see that right there? That’s the definition of bullshit. Literally nothing of substance was said at once during the rambling shmorgisborg of sweet nothings. This is the kind of poppy-cock politicians have been getting away with for too long. What does ANY of that mean?? “We need to work to get it right.” Yea, no shit sherlock. Brilliant plan. “There has to be a solid plan for students, teachers, and parents.” Right, it’s called arrest criminals who break laws inside the school.

This is the kind of bullshit response people have been accepting for too long from politicians. Twelve minutes of nothing. I’d rather have 30 seconds of an actual plan that that jive.

The highlight of the meeting was when North High senior Leith Larson literally got up there and called Melinda Boone a liar. Apparently she was supposed to have a meeting with students from North High 10 days ago and stood them up. He showed up to ask her what was up with that. It was pretty awesome. That and when a mother of a North student got up there and told the School Committee members that she was holding them all personally accountable if her kid got hurt. That was pretty bad ass.

And since this meeting involved police in schools, guess who HAD to show up? The hippies of course!! Their winter hibernation is coming to an end.

See if you can pick out two of Worcester’s favorite police haters in this picture:

Neither of them works at North High. Neither of them has ANY fucking clue what goes on in the Worcester Public Schools. But of course it didn’t stop them from pretending to know what’s best for North High school students because it fits their anti-cop agenda.

A former teacher named Johnny V basically showed the goodness that exists in the Worcester Public School teachers. He was a teacher at North High who showed up to school every day while going through dialysis, because “the kids need consistency.” The man represents the values of 99% of Worcester Public School teachers. We should probably listen when he says that the environment for teachers at North High right now is unfair.

Then the hippies had their say. I haven’t seen these people since they illegally blocked traffic at Kelley Square back on MLK Jr. Day. Julius Jones said that he was “not an advocate for having more police in the schools, and there should be lessening of violence, but not police.” Because apparently there is a magical formula for lessening violence in schools that doesn’t require trained law enforcement personell. Perhaps we should have the students draw rainbows and play patty-cakes. Certainly that would be a more effective plan than evil, racist police officers.

The bottom line is anyone who doesn’t support police officers in the school and cameras all over the school simply doesn’t give a shit about safety. They can’t put their own politics aside for the kids, which isn’t surprising at all, because as we’ve seen the protesters are nothing but narcissistic dooshnozzles on a power trip. They block highways, because, fuck your rights. They don’t care that ambulances can’t get to hospitals because they think they’re solving the worlds problems. But of course we know they’re not.

Diana Biancheria and Brian O’Connell continue to be the only two who have any shot at getting the Turtleboy endorsement in November, as they are the only two that favored police in the school tonight.

John Monfredo’s solution was to “seek legal advice for definition of suspension.” AKA avoid the issue so as not to piss off the hundred or so teachers that jam packed City Hall.

Tracy Novick got the biggest round of applause from the hippie protesters, which of course means she said a bunch of really dumb things. For instance she said that we don’t “need armed encampments.” Because as someone who lives in West Tatnuck, has no children of high school age, and will never, ever have to send her children to North High, she knows what’s best for the safety of students and teachers. Cops are bad, because the hippies said they are.

Then she filed a motion to see if the cameras at north were legal. Apparently this is a big deal or something because it invades privacy. What I don’t understand is, what’s the big fucking deal about the cameras? Any school that doesn’t have cameras everywhere is a school run by morons. Kids steal shit from other kids lockers. How do you fix that? Cameras. Kids dealing drugs, getting in fights, or any other illegal activity are immediately known because of cameras. They’re magical inventions that show us things that are happening when we’re not looking. So why would ANYONE have a problem with this?

Oh, and of course she had to take a little jab at the Turtleboy by saying that “change doesn’t take place in the comment threads,” and “blogs don’t solve anything.” Newsflash Tracy Novick – yes they do. Everyone knows Turtleboy Sports is the main reason that cops are at North High. I have inside information from sources who tell me that Mayor Petty has specifically brought up this blog as a “problem” at his staff meetings. The problem is of course that it’s forcing empty suits (and pant suits) to do their jobs.

Jack Foley and Hilda Ramirez basically said more of the same. Ramirez said that police will ESCALATE the problems at North, while Foley said that the “we have to stop the damaging back and forth in the media and on social media.” AKA he’s reading the comments on the Turtleboy Facebook page. Social media and blogs are pretty much the worst things that ever happened to politicians. It gives citizens the ability to come together and call a spade a spade – every politicians worst nightmare.

In Foley’s defense he did say, “if people feel safer with police in building, I’m okay with that.” See, that I can deal with. The man voted to re-up Boone’s contract, but unlike the other frauds like Tracy Novick he’s willing to do what the people in the building want in order to make themselves feel safer. I can respect that at least.

The bottom line is that you’re either for safety or you’re not. Police in North High school is not the same thing as America invading Iraq. It’s not an armed occupation. It’s people we’ve entrusted to protect the community building relationships with kids so that everyone feels safe. Anyone who doesn’t support that is getting voted out in November. Period.

There are cameras on the school buses, that doesn’t seem to question any privacy concerns. They are mandated by Worcester Public Schools.

What is a Junior Smokeshow? I used to thought it meant future hotties, like girls in high school, specifically juniors.. But now with Sonya in the club, I’m confused

I look at it as additional evidence of multiple bloggers, the different opinion of what defines a junior smokeshow.

I hate cops. BUT I also know there purpose. Do I want my kids to go to school in a violent atmosphere? Is there a way to not stop but lessen the violence? Are there cameras at ….. stores? Government buildings? Street corners? Private residents? Why yes there is. Should they be in schools? Yes. I’ll move out of this shit forsaken town before I send my kid to HS with in city limits.

Cops at North High ….. YES!
Cameras at North High ….. YES!

Two Clive articles in a row mentioning the Turtle. Though now it’s just “the ramblings of one of the vilest bloggers in the city.”

Clive has clearly become unhinged and is using the TnG to attack those he doesnt agree with. His rants and bile have no place in “journalism”.

hes clearly lost his mind now that his garbage hate speeches and demands have brought assaults and anarchy upon a school system.

Tuff shit Clive, next time think before you open your racist mouth!

I do think the cameras are a good idea. But why not let them be shut off say after this year or next. If they work and stop the fights.

    Just a thought.

Because if the punk kids know the cameras are off, they’ll get right back up to their old shit starting fights again etc?

      Um DUH.

I think it is a great idea to have police or at least Security and cameras in schools. Also, I can understand the “invasion of privacy” concern, but that will be why communication is so key at the start as it may help some concerns. Finally, in response to Hilda Ramirez saying that “police will ESCALATE the problems at North”, problems were already escalating way before the possibility of police at the school and none of the ones complaining had any ideas to assist with preventing the issues up until now.

I really don’t like police, would never call them on my own behalf. That being said it makes perfect sense to have police in a school of kids that has a violence problem.

I hope this is a decision this blog actually influences.

Where do you live? I want to break into your house because you won’t call the police.
