Tequila Themed Party Deemed Racist By Bowdoin Students Who Had Their Feelings Hurt

Some Bowdoin College students had a tequila themed party, which apparently hurt other student’s feelings because tequila is racist.

Today’s story of PC butthurt gone wrong comes from Bowdoin College in Maine, where a tequila party was deemed to be racist and culturally insensitive. Ya know, because only Mexicans drink tequila. Excerpts from the student newspaper are in italics, followed by Turtleboy’s rational thoughts in bold.

For the third time in just over a year, an incident of ethnic stereotyping by Bowdoin students at a party has ignited campus-wide tensions, frustrations and pain, and prompted an institutional investigation in response.  In the latest incident—a “tequila”-themed birthday party in Stowe Hall last Saturday night—some students wore sombreros, according to a student who attended. A screenshot taken from the email invitation showed the event being referred to as a “tequila” party and read, “we’re not saying it’s a fiesta, but we’re also not not saying that 🙂 (we’re not saying that).”

tequilapartyon bowdoin

First of all, I love how they have to write, “we’re not saying fiesta” because they can already tell that the PC police will be out in full force to call a “fiesta” racist. Preexisting butthurt insurance. But seriously, this is what kids at Bowdoin are getting “hurt” about? Some kids having a private party while drinking the funnest liquor ever and wearing tiny sombreros? I’ve seen babies born on Cinco de Mayo who have been given that same little Mexican sombrero. Ya know, because it’s something that’s fun and silly to do. Anyone who is offended by this is obviously just looking for something to be offended about.

Several Mexican and Mexican-American students expressed exhaustion and frustration at the public comment time at Wednesday night’s Bowdoin Student Government (BSG) meeting.
“As a senior who has seen multiple racist incidents at this college, I’m at the point now where I’m really, really tired,” said BSG Vice President for Student Government Affairs Michelle Kruk ’16.

Michelle Kruk is really, really tired ladies and gentlemen. It’s not easy policing the Internet and finding things to be offended about 24/7. Sure, she could’ve just ignored this harmless party, but she’s a full time unpaid social justice warrior. She had no choice. This is her on the far left:

11426254_10207317772689080_2353249899801620849_n

She’s from Illinois and purposely chooses to attend an extremely expensive private school across the country. She obviously comes from money, but don’t let that fool you. She’s still very oppressed. She attends a lot of really important rallies on campus:

She stood in “solidarity” with Michael Brown by posing for a picture with the “hands up, don’t shoot” pose:

Screen Shot 2016-02-29 at 11.25.10 AM

Just don’t tell her that Michael Brown died because he refused to put his hands up and instead used them to try to take a gun from a police officer. Stupid facts!!

Solidarity is one of the most commonly used words from the SJW playbook, which is why she stood in “solidarity” with wealthy, entitled students from Missouri, Claremont, Yale, and Ithaca, who demanded that their professors and school presidents be fired if they failed to protect them from imaginary racism:

Ya know, nice Yale girls like this (watch this video if you want to become enraged):

The African-American girl Michelle Kruk is standing “in solidarity” with is 20 year old Jerelyn Luther, who lives in a $760,000 home in Fairfield, CT. That poor, oppressed girl. Good thing some slugpump from Bowdoin College is standing in solidarity with her though. How would she ever survive?

Oh yea, loved when she shared this one too:

Newsflash Michelle Kruk – you are the aggressive social justice warrior that this poster is making fun of. No one likes you.

“What happened last weekend completely distorted what I stand for, what I embody and what I fight for. That was wrong, especially in light of what happened last semester,” said Bill De La Rosa ’16.

Thank God we have people like Bill De La Rosa who will stand and fight for an end to tequila being served at parties.

Oh wait, that kid has never been invited to a party in his life. Must be because of racism, not because of the 90’s boy’s regular haircut.

In fall 2014, the lacrosse team’s “Cracksgiving” party, where students wore Native American costumes, resulted in the discipline of several individual students. On Wednesday night, BSG followed a precedent set after the “gangster” party last fall by urging the student body to attend its public comment time during its weekly meeting to discuss the incident and passed a statement of solidarity offering support for those affected.

Wait a minute. So all these references to the racial incidents in the past at Bowdoin College center around a bunch of kids who dressed like Indians at a Thanksgiving party? Make sure these people don’t go to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Worcester. It’s a bunch of drunken Irishmen stumbling around picking fights with each other. Oh that’s right, no one gives a shit if white people are stereotyped in the name of public intoxication. Because….white privilege!!

67ddef2e-abc7-40be-bd30-e52b414c28a8

The statement passed by the BSG, in addition to condemning the incident, offered several recommendations, including that the administration address bias incidents and the hurt caused by them more quickly and that the College develop a standardized process for punishing students involved in these incidents.

Two major additional recommendations were added to the draft after public comment time. The first encouraged the College to acknowledge the time pressures on students of color tasked with responding to such incidents. The second recommendation, inspired by a new course on Black Lives Matter at Fairfield University, recommended that the Office of Academic Affairs play a role in punitive measures for offending students by mandating academic work in certain subject areas.

Punitive measures? Punishing students? For going to a party and wearing a sombrero and drinking tequila? Yea, that sounds like a GREAT precedent to set. Fuck free speech, am I right?

At the public comment time, De La Rosa voiced frustration that a BSG member allegedly attended the party.

“That is disgraceful. That is shameful. Especially because you’re elected by the student body, not to represent a certain group, but the student body,” said De La Rosa. “I encourage the BSG to do something about this—to put a bylaw starting whenever, next year, that you are all elected to represent the student body, and that there should be some sanctions, some consequences, for those that partake in behavior like this.”

Yea, how dare a college student go to a party to have……FUN!!! There’s no fun allowed in college. There used to be, back before safe spaces were invented. But those days are long gone mister!!

“We have asked over and over and over, and the thing we’re asking for is just basic respect,” said Catalina Gallagher ’16.

Hey Catalina, I have an idea that I think just might be crazy enough to work. Bear with me. How bout this – if you are offended by a tequila party then just don’t go to it!! I know, I know, it’s a little bit far fetched. But it might crazy enough to work. Here is poor Catalina addressing the student body:

10990_2_large

Look at those solemn faces and expressions. This is serious business folks!! There are hurt feeling all over that room. And in 2016 no one is ever allowed to have their feelings hurt!!!

“I have spent at least five hours talking about this. That’s so much of my time,” said Raquel Santizo ’19, who is on the board of the Latin American Student Organization (LASO). “I’m a first year, I should be doing first-year things.”

Five hours!!! That’s Wally World stuff right there!! How will she ever get those five hours back? Sure, she intentionally went looking for something to be offended by and voluntarily chooses to serve on both the Latin American Student Organization and the SGA, but that doesn’t matter. She shouldn’t have to give up any of her time. Everyone should ask themselves, “will this offend Racquel Santizo” before doing ANYTHING!!!

Screen Shot 2016-02-11 at 9.05.25 AM

Of the students who spoke at the meeting, none defended the party’s theme or said that they had attended.

Gee, I wonder why NO ONE stood up for common sense? Oh yea, because all these buttnuts would call them racist. And probably because the type of students who go to tequila parties  are too busy balancing their academics, binge drinking, and social lives to give a shit.

An email to campus from Dean of Student Affairs Tim Foster on Monday night announced that his office was “in the process of investigating what we have learned from students and from posts on social media.” Foster asked students with information about the event to contact him or Leana Amaez, associate dean of students for diversity and inclusion.

In an email to campus Wednesday night, President Clayton Rose did not refer to the specifics of last weekend’s incident, but wrote broadly that further work needs to be done to make students of color welcome on campus and condemned insensitive posts on the anonymous social media platform Yik Yak.

Ya see that right there? That’s the problem. It’s one thing when idiotic 19 year olds who know nothing about reality bitch and whine about stupid things that they should really just get over. But it’s the job of the adults to say,

“Calm down kids. It’s just a harmless party. If you find something offensive about this then you should probably look at yourself in the mirror, because there’s nothing even remotely offensive about this. They’re drinking tequila because tequila makes people go crazy, and crazy is fun. And yes, it happens to be a liquor that has traditional ties to Mexico. If they’re drinking vodka at their next party, that doesn’t mean they’re insensitive towards Russians though. Your demands are meaningless because this is a private university that you are choosing to attend. No one is forcing you to go here. Plus, you don’t make the policies, we do. “

But instead of saying that, they coddle them. They make them believe that their idiotic opinions matter. They don’t, and they especially won’t when they graduate and leave the safe space of Bowdoin.

The most problematic part is when they condemn “anonymous social media” such as Yik Yak. Hey genius, anonymity is one of the most essential parts of free speech on the Internet. Ya know why people choose to be anonymous? Because the PC police are vicious and they will destroy you if they know your name. So if you have an opinion that runs counter to what they believe and you wish to voice it, anonymity is your only option.

Administrators have largely moved away from the language of “cultural appropriation,” which was used in official emails after the Cracksgiving incident and has still been a common topic of debate on Yik Yak. Foster’s email referred to “ethnic stereotyping,” while Rose’s referenced an “act of bias.”

HAHHAHA. “Cultural appropriation” was the buzzword for the Indian party two years ago. But the rules change fast in the PC world, and now that’s considered insensitive. “Ethnic stereotyping” is the new way to say it, but that will probably change by the time we publish this blog.

To cap it off an American student of Mexican descent wrote this butthurt letter to the school newspaper:

I stayed in this weekend, missing home, in a dress and heels, dancing alone in my room to my family’s favorite music to dance to, some of my Bowdoin peers were out there throwing a party that both intentionally and unintentionally mocked my culture in a way that was so wrong it’s ridiculous. To those who threw this party: your intentions were very clear as to what kind of “fiesta” you were going to have and what Mexican stereotypes you were going to display. If you think that’s not true, look at the stereotypical props you put on, and ask yourself why you chose them.

This poor, poor girl. Her ancestors were born and raised in an impoverished, crime riddled country with no jobs or access to healthcare. And here she is at a private school in Maine, suffering the horrors of dancing alone in her room to her favorite Mexican music because she couldn’t stand the sight of baby sized sombreros!!

Tequila is more than a crazy alcoholic drink to me. I was raised in a tequila culture, it was all around me as a child. If you don’t believe my passion for tequila, ask my close friends here, they will tell you I am in love with it.

Yea guys, no tequila for you. Because this girl was raised in a “tequila culture.” Only she can drink tequila. Even ask her close friends!!

I can’t say, “the people who threw this party didn’t intend to offend Mexicans,” because no one came to me or any of my Latino friends to try to understand what a true fiesta is like.

Stop the fight!! Are you telling me that the students in question did not seek out your permission to have a tequila party prior to hosting it?? Is this even real life??

Folks, college campuses have gone mad. This election season we’re gonna hear whoever the two candidates are (maybe not Trump) talk about how essential it is to have a college degree. Bullshit. College degrees are meaningless pieces of paper that some jobs require and others don’t. It’s a nice thing to have if you’re going into a particular industry, but otherwise all it represents is that you underwent four years of politically correct indoctrination and lived to talk about it.

I enjoyed my five years at UMass largely because of Tequila. I did become a better writer at school, just because they make you write so many papers. But other than that I can’t remember a single thing I learned. I do remember the many, many attempts by my Northampton, Leveret, and Wendell professors to brainwash me into believing that I’m the devil because I’m a white cis-male. But luckily I knew it was bullshit the whole time and I just went through the motions and got really drunk on the weekends with my non-butthurt friends. In hindsight I should’ve just gone up there to party on the weekends and started Turtleboy back when blogs were just becoming a thing. Because my college degree is pretty useless right now.

When I was in college, we would have around-the-world parties in the dorm, with the appropriately-themed room which basically payed respect to the drink’s country of origin. Not once did I consider this racist, insensitive, non-inclusive, sexist or any other social justice warrior catch-phrase!! All we cared about was the rooms running out of booze before we were able to complete the tour more than once! College is supposed to be an experience like no other for a young adult; where freedom and independence mold you into the adult you will ultimately become. Maybe we can have separate dorms for the cry-baby, liberal pussies, and other dorms for the true college experience!!!

This is what happens when you put nerds with no testicular fortitude in charge. They end up protecting the oh-so delicate feelings of all the little nerdlings who don’t get invited to the cool parties or asked to sit at the cool kids tables. Man up and join the Marines if you’re so damned offended at your hippie oasis, maybe then I’ll have an ounce of respect for you.

Did you catch the “I’m a FIRST YEAR” statement? Because there are no longer “freshman” in college. That’s sexist. No F’ing lie. I toured colleges with my daughter and all of them actually admitted to saying First Year instead so as not to offend.

I only wish I could be there to watch every one of them when they get the inevitable dope slap from life. They’re all going to crash so hard…

The real fun will begin when the reality of everyday life (outside their safe zoned, educational sanctuaries) kicks them square in the nuts. These privileged phuckweasels’ manufactured outrage and skewed views of the world, from the hallowed halls of academia, will bring on a case of near hysteria when it comes to earning a living or even finding a job. Wait until they discover that their opinions don’t count for much in the early innings in the game of becoming ‘adults.’ Oh, the humanity.

Is that the “hands up dont shoot” that was all based and proven an absolute lie by science and forensics? Fuck facts.

All these beta males acting like white knights riding in on their internet high horses to stand up for these misguided libtards isnt gonna get them laid. Guess what stupid, it didnt work when you were in High School and it wont work now. The girls are still looking for confident, well thought and well mannered men. Not limp wristed, frail and scared of twitter post half men. Your lightweight asses got friend zoned then and you will be friend zoned now. Sit back and watch the real men take the women while you sit outside the door and hold my jacket listening to the sounds you only pray you will make a woman scream at some point in your life.

Want a safe space? go the fuck back home and hide in your closet. The world isnt a safe place. Fucking deal with it or kill yourself now cuz it aint gonna get any better.
