This story out of Sturbridge today is NOT from The Onion. I swear to God. A father is being charged with letting his 13 year old kid drive through some of the busiest and most dangerous roads in the town that is basically the nexus between Massachusetts and New York for 8.5 miles. His profession? Driver’s ed instructor of course:

Yup. This mother fucker posted the pictures to Facebook!! The best part is how his friends told him how dumb it was to do that, and his response was “shhhh.” Because everyone knows that posting “shhhh” on Facebook makes your words and pictures invisible. Can’t make this shit up.

The La Quinta that ultimately gave away his location was right on Route 20 in Fiskdale. If you’ve never driven on that road during rush hour, take a day trip tomorrow around 4:30 and let me know how that goes. It’s clusterfuck city. He wasn’t just driving on some dirt road in the middle of nowhere. Dude brought him into a highly concentrated area with some of the worst drivers known to mankind.

Anyway, Stevey’s Facebook page doesn’t have much left on it now. Just some pictures of one of the world’s oldest 35 year old man:

We looked him up on on the Twitter machine and it turns out he’s a former Brookfield selectman. Ya got that? Not only is he in charge of teaching children the appropriate rules of the road, he was also in charge of a town. And from the looks of it he was no stranger to controversy. Here he is yelling at an angry townswoman:

And here he is being called a liar and ironically questioning a citizen about breaking certain laws:

Keep in mind, this guy likes the law so much that he let his 13 year old kid drive through Route 20 and then posted pictures of it on Facebook. Apparently the pressure became too much for him because he has since resigned.

Anyway, I figured we all could agree that this was a case of parenting gone wrong. But alas I ventured over to the comments section of the Sturbridge PD and Turtlegram and Gazette’s Facebook page, and found that he was not in short supply of supporters:

Oh good, Dad wasn’t drunk. Therefore it’s OK. Looks like Pete’s setting the bar pretty high.

This one was great:

“Shame on the government and the laws.”

“If he trusts his kid, or any other 13 year old behind the wheel, I do too.”

Quotes of the century right there. This isn’t satire. She typed those words, she read them over, and she thought to herself, “I’m gonna hit the enter button now.” Apparently Meaghan believes that any 13 YEAR OLD that this random yahoo from Brookfield, with a bootleg driving school, arbitrarily decides to trust behind the wheel of a car can drive down the busiest road in Sturbridge in broad daylight. Makes sense.

It’s true. Back in 19 ought seven when men were men, there were no stupid “rules” and “laws.” You kind of just did whatever you wanted. There was no “RMV” or “driver’s licenses” or any of those other oppressive regulations either. Sure, there were also only a couple hundred people in the entire state who owned a car, and none of them could go over 35 mph, but besides that your logic is dead on.

There was a lot of that “my Daddy let me drive the car when I was a kid” talk going on:

Cool story bro. Did your Dad post pictures of you driving on Route 20 on Facebook too? No? Well then here’s a magic marker and coloring book. Time to let the grownups talk now.

Loved this one too:

Yea, how did they even know the kid was driving? It’s not like Dad posted photographic evidence on the second most trafficked website in the world or anything like that.

This was brilliant:

It’s true. Everyone knows that the spawn of bootleg driving school instructors have magical abilities to operate a motor vehicle three years before they’re legally allowed to do so.

Bangs McGee jumped in too:

Not only did Em Quiles learn to drive when she was 11, by the time she was 30 she saved France from the terrorists!!

According to her Facebook page she graduated from high school in Puerto Rico. I’ve never been to Puerto Rico before, but I would imagine laws and regulations are generally non-existent or at least unenforced across the board on that wonderful island. So yea, when I think of Puerto Rico I think of beaches, boxing, baseball, and 9 year old kids driving 1984 Chevy pickup trucks through dirt roads on the way to the farmer’s market. But in America we have these things called, “rules,” and “laws.” It’s a big reason why people like moving to America.

The bottom line is 13 year old kids aren’t supposed to drive cars. Just because your daddy did it with you doesn’t make it legal. Luckily for him your father wasn’t a poopbrain who posted pictures of you driving by La Quinta on Facebook.

‘Do as I say, don’t do as I do.’ must be his motto. You’d think a Driver’s Ed instructor would want to abide by the laws he teaches to his students. I would not be surprised if his 13 year old was competent to drive, but it’s still illegal. It would have been safe to allow me to drive at age 13. I was mature for my age, intelligent, responsible, and 6-feet-7 by my 14th birthday, chomping at the bit to be able to drive a car, but I didn’t even think of not waiting until I was 16. If he had not resigned I think his teaching license should have been revoked just for the fact that he, of all people, should know to follow the driving rules.

This is why all respinsible drivers need good insurance. To protect against nitwits. Anyone dumb enough to post allowing a child to drive on heavily traveled public roads proves conclusively they have piss poit judgment.

At 13, I couldn’t control where my jizz was going. You want me to drive a car?

I am in No Way defending Steve Comtois allowing his 13 year old to drive on a busy roadway in Rush hour traffic with or with out the aide of a driver’s ed car, but there are state’s That the legal driving age is non existent both Alaska and Mississippi have a license exemption for farming families driving farm related equipment, Nebraska you can obtain a Farm Husbandry permit at 13 if your family owns the farm 14 if you are employed by a farm. Kansas and South Dakota legal age is 14, most farm children are raised differently in a manner that makes them more responsible that coupled with the vast distances between farming communities and schools, stores etc.. It makes driving at an earlier age a necessity. Sometimes it’s not how old someone is but rather the level of maturity they posses. Steve Comtois is the perfect example of a person who has Many years of driving experience but lacks Maturity and common sense!

Literally nothing you wrote matters. We are in Massachusetts, therefore Massachusetts laws apply. He is NOT a farmer, he is not Amish and the blatant disregard for Massachusetts laws worries me. His judgement is clearly off and unfortunately no matter how many people try to defend him , it was a very stupid thing to allow. Then just to double down he posts it on Facebook. I think he wanted attention. Good or bad , people don’t care.

Geez, why are people defending him. He broke the law, plain & simple. Do you really want to pick which laws should be upheld or ignored. No ….. No you don’t – that would be a bad outcome. Why doesn’t anyone ever get held accountable anymore

I’m not surprised he is being defended because most people are absolutely horrible drivers and don’t know basic rules and laws. Teaching kids about cars and driving at a younger age is a good thing, but not actual driving on a major public road.

But we should also require adults to take a driving class every few years or so. Most of us took a class as teenagers when we cared only about passing the test than actually learning how to drive properly. As the years go by, laws change, traffic changes, cars change, and it’s easy to forget every you learned in a class when you were 16. As a result we have many drivers who are basically just doing it wrong.

Drivers are worse these days not because they don’t know the rules of the road, but because many are entitled, self-absorbed twats that don’t give a flying f’ about anyone else on the road.

I have nothing to say about this article other than:

Puerto Rico is a part of the United States. They are US citizens, they vote in our elections.

How the fuck do people still not know this?

So the second to last paragraph needs to be edited, cause it just makes you look like an uneducated racist. Oh wait…

      “They vote in our elections”?
Other than party primaries and their own representatives (which have no voting power in Congress), which of “our” elections do they vote in?

Because its territory doesn’t make the usa. Its america no matter what cause geography. Plus define whats racist about that paragraph?
Puerto ricans are considered white by some and black by others but they are not a race .
Uneducated racist. Well you sound like a child diddler who sells drugs to kids
