Earlier in the week we published this blog about former Boston Globe employee Hilary Sargent, who alleged that Globe editor Brian McGrory had sexually harassed her by asking her what she was wearing while writing:

https://twitter.com/lilsarg/status/998367425090523137

https://twitter.com/lilsarg/status/998370369705832451

Since then the story really took off, particularly because the Globe purports itself to be one of the leaders in the #MeToo movement, despite harboring sexual predators, and refusing to name one of their own employees who had been let go after being accused of sexual harassment. For instance, they still employ obituary editor Bryan Marquard, despite his 2005 arrest for masturbating outside of a woman’s apartment door. And at the same time they’ve called for Clarence Thomas to resign from the Supreme Court because of allegations made against him 30 years ago.

John Henry’s trophy wife Linda Pizutti, who was given the job of managing director of the Globe by her multi-millionaire husband, released a statement on Wednesday saying that they were investigating.

Then Whachuwearing McGee himself released a bombshell:

Hilary Sargent is someone I have known for a long time, been fond of personally, and respected professionally. To say the least, I was not anticipating the situation this week.

Hilary released on Monday what she said was an exchange between us. I have no recollection of it, which, admittedly, is embarrassing to me. I have asked Hilary to provide the date and a more complete version of the exchange. She has not addressed my request. I have told the Globe’s owners that the company should feel free to retrieve our text messages by whatever means possible, and I am trying myself. Absent that information, I do think some context is needed.

First, Hilary and I dated many years ago. We did not work together at the time, and we’ve remained friendly over the years.

Stop right there. Riddle me this McGrory:

Second, when Hilary came to boston.com in 2014, I had no role, no say whatsoever, in her hire. She did not report to me, even indirectly. The site had a separate editor answering directly to the front office. We were on mutually friendly terms, and I do not believe I ever wrote, spoke, or acted in a disrespectful way to her.

Third, months after Hilary left boston.com, we would sometimes exchange text messages that included the kind of personal banter of two people very familiar with each other. I regret that very much for reasons that go far beyond the Globe.

I can’t believe I have to write these words, but I have never harassed Hilary Sargent or any other women at the Globe or anywhere else – ever. I don’t believe I have ever acted inappropriately with anyone at this company. I have been a manager two different times over my 29 years with this organization – from 2007 to 2009 as the Metro editor, and from 2013 to now as the editor. I cannot think of a time, not one, when I treated any female colleague with anything but respect. I have never faced any sort of complaint, formal or informal, whether as a manager or not. I have consistently put women in leadership positions, such that newsroom management is split equally by gender, with talented women holding many of the most pivotal jobs – managing editor, news editor, innovations editor, Spotlight editor, just to name a few. I devoted myself to the issue of gender pay equity from the first months that I took this position, and I’m proud to say that in key categories in the newsroom, we have achieved it. Tough decisions that have affected women and men have been made during my tenure, inevitable in an industry that is losing revenue each year. But I have always tried to address these challenges with a basic sense of decency.

I have no desire to argue with Hilary Sargent, publicly or privately. In fact, I very much respect her abilities as a journalist. But I do think that it’s important to have the broader context known. Finally, I fully realize the toll this has taken on the newsroom, the distraction it has caused and the questions it has understandably raised. My one request is that everyone remains focused on the vital work of the Globe each and every day.

Yup. He claims they dated. Obviously if they did, and those messages were sent while they were dating, that changes things.

I’m starting to think these two deserve each other. I don’t trust any man’s intentions who wants to date a woman that much younger than him. I also don’t trust the woman’s intentions. There’s absolutely no way she was actually sexually attracted to Brian McGrory. He had power though, and that is attractive. He, on the other hand, was fully cognizant of this power dynamic, and used it to date a woman who normally is wayyyy out of his league.

But regardless, the Globe’s public position is that women are to be believed when they allege sexual harassment in the workplace. This is a fundamental stated belief that the left claims to stand by.

Yet Emily Rooney at WGBH has been vigorously defending him and insinuating that Hilary Sargent is lying:

So if they were to be consistent they should let the Globe internally investigate this while McGrory is on paid leave, just like they did with Kevin Cullen. (PS – how does Cullen, who allegedly knows pretty much everyone i Boston, not know anything about these two banging?)

But instead of doing that they’re suing Hilary Sargent:

Here it is…..

Basically, The Globe says it’s asking Sargent to honor her severance agreement, which requires her to cooperate with any investigations of her tenure at the Globe. They want dates of the text message exchanges, and say Sargent and her lawyer have refused. Thy initially asked for money, but the crossed it out after realizing how terrible this would make them look.

I will say this, it’s shady as hell that Hilary’s not showing the dates on those messages. Takes two seconds to do so. On the other hand, I assume she’s not stupid enough to open herself up to something like this that would all be revealed in court, if it were misleading. She’d look like an idiot, and she’d make the Globe look like victims, which I’m sure is the last thing she wants to do.

Here’s my favorite part – check out who the lawyers are who filed the lawsuit on behalf of the Globe, against a woman who is alleging sexual harassment….

Look at the second name.

Sam Regenbogen. She’s a young, junior smokeshow attorney extraordinaire!

She’s also an outspoken feminist, who participated in the Women’s March and even donned the pink pussy hat to fight the patriarchy!

Ya got that? This woman, who pretends in her free time to champion the cause of women, is now suing a woman on behalf of a male dominated, well established newspaper owned by a male billionaire, because this woman had the audacity to allege on Twitter that she had been sexually harassed by these very men. In essence she is telling Hilary to sit down, shut up, and stop tweeting allegations about the Globe harboring a culture of sexual harassment. Yet both Sam’s fiance and her have a never ending sea of links to progressive liberal causes on their Facebook pages:

Now is Sam’s chance to show that she was willing to make a principled stand, and not involve herself in such a case. But ultimately she’s just a corporate stooge who doesn’t really believe anything she preaches, and like most lawyers she puts money before values and virtue. Just like McGrory, the asshole she is representing.

The bottom line is that everyone in this story sucks.  It’s a bunch of liberals showing their true colors when it comes to the very issues that are at the core of their values. The Globe pretends to be a champion of women, yet they harbor so many men who are clearly guilty of sexual misbehavior. The feminist lawyer is suing a woman for speaking out. The “victim” was at the very least misleading with her story, and could easily clear this all up but hasn’t. Her behavior has on Twitter could be characterizd as attention seeking for quite some time before this, and I don’t personally know her, and she chose to date this guy:

So I really can’t trust her either.

They all deserve each other.

So Sam Regenbogen is just another whore with no principles when it comes down to money.
When cash talks, she goes from Helen Reddy back to getting sent to the kitchen with a slap on the ass to go grab beers for the guys while we talk about how she got on her knees and sucked mean cock to get where she is today.

It should be illegal for a man to text a woman without her consent.

Why aren’t the Henrys & Boston Red Sox being held accountable in all of this? (I know, stupid question, but it begs repeating)

If Donald Trump owned the Globe, it would be the 1st 15 headlines on CNN.com

I think the bigger scandal is the Globe’s having bought off Sargent back in 2016.

My guess is that they wanted to fire her, but she threatened to bring a discrimination complaint so they had to pay her off. And that payoff is what they are now suing her over.

It would be a fucking blast to beat the shit out of McCrory just so I could hear the sound that basset hound face makes when knuckles hit it. I’m thinking it would be something like a bat hitting a trash bag full of pudding.

1: There is a reason I stopped getting the Globe decades ago.

2: Ever notice how the Sunday Globe now is smaller and costs 2000% more than the Tuesday Globe of the 1980’s?
