Everyone’s been buzzing about President Trump’s recent executive order to ban refugees from seven Muslim countries, including war-torn Syria.

Screen Shot 2017-01-29 at 11.54.09 AM

This is obviously a really controversial subject, and Trump is showing that all the things he said in the campaign weren’t just empty promises. He’s actually gonna do it.

But this is just something Turtleboy isn’t down with. Sorry. I understand we can’t have open borders, and I understand that Syria is a hotbed of ISIS radicalism. I understand all the concerns about the skittles analogy, where one or two bad seeds sneaks in with all the good ones.

Trump-Skittles

I understand the America first way of thinking, in a country where veterans are homeless but yet we’re inviting more people in that are in need of taxpayer funded resources. I understand that we can’t have ridiculous policies like France and Germany that basically encourage assholes to move in in the name of political correctness.

I get all that. But the fact of the matter is that the refugee process is already pretty rigorous in this country:

The process begins with a referral from UNHCR. The U.N.’s refugee agency is responsible for registering some 15 million asylum seekers around the world, and providing aid and assistance until they are resettled abroad or (more likely) returned home once conditions ease. The registration process includes in-depth refugee interviews, home country reference checks and biological screening such as iris scans. Military combatants are weeded out.

Among those who pass background checks, a small percentage are referred for overseas resettlement based on criteria designed to determine the most vulnerable cases. This group may include survivors of torture, victims of sexual violence, targets of political persecution, the medically needy, families with multiple children and a female head of household.

Our government performs its own intensive screening, a process that includes consultation from nine different government agencies. They meet weekly to review a refugee’s case file and, if appropriate, determine where in the U.S. the individual should be placed. When choosing where to place a refugee, officials consider factors such as existing family in the U.S., employment possibilities and special factors like access to needed medical treatment.

In particular, Syrian refugees are scrutinized more than any others because of the potential for extremism:

Every refugee goes through an intensive vetting process, but the precautions are increased for Syrians. Multiple law enforcement, intelligence and security agencies perform “the most rigorous screening of any traveler to the U.S.,” says a senior administration official. Among the agencies involved are the State Department, the FBI’s Terrorist Screening Center, the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security. A DHS officer conducts in-person interviews with every applicant. Biometric information such as fingerprints are collected and matched against criminal databases. Biographical information such as past visa applications are scrutinized to ensure the applicant’s story coheres.

Less than 2% of Syrian refugees we allow in this country are grown men of combat age. Over half are children. Another 25% are elderly. We’re not just letting everyone get in. We’ve been taking in Syrian immigrants for a while now and none of them has blown shit up. The people behind the San Bernadino and Orlando attacks weren’t refugees.

qraon

So for those reasons Turtleboy isn’t down with this ban.

My biggest problem with Syrian refugees is the hypocrisy and acceptance of countries like Saudi Arabia who refuse to allow in their Muslim brethren. It’s a lot shorter of a trip, they’re used to the weather, and there’s plenty of neighborhood mosques. There’s so much wealth in those countries from oil sales that they should have plenty of resources to accommodate them. But instead they’ve close their doors to these refugees and no one seems to be calling them out for this.

Saw a Facebook friend, whose parents were Cambodian refugees fleeing the oppressive Khmer Rouge regimeand brought him here when he was a little boy. He posted a picture of his baby with this message:

Screen Shot 2017-01-29 at 11.55.46 AM

It’s true.

This one comes from a friend who served in the military and organized the veteran’s protest at Hampshire College when they took down the American flag:

Screen Shot 2017-01-29 at 12.53.52 PM

Doesn’t get much more Patriotic than that guy.

And how bout Cuban refugees? Why are we so willing to let people on rafts wash ashore in Florida and take them in with open arms? How do we know that they’re not secret double agents working for Castro to overthrow our government?

So yea, this whole executive order seems misguided and grounded in ignorance. This is not a Trump fan boy blog. You come here for unpredictable takes, and we always call it like we see it. Let the Trumpette butthurt begin.

P.S. Can’t wait until social justice warriors completely ignore the fact that we published this blog and choose to focus on blogs they don’t agree with.

Ok so when the extreme liberal Turtleboy goes off his or her meds – please do not represent all of Turtleboy Sports. Just say this TurtleBoy in particular thinks this way blah blah blah. That would result in a healthy discourse of ideas. You bring the whole blog down with this gibberish nonsense when you announce we at TurtleBoy Sports etc. Then BAM something from left wingnut fucking left field emerges.

Comparing Cuban refugees to Syrian refugees? Really? No I’m serious really? Do you have a clue as to how far off base you are here?

I agree with Turd on this one even though he is a fucknut and has nothing but hate in his heart. Or lack thereof. But seriously – When was the last time you heard of a Cuban refugee attack our American way of life? Oh that’s right – “Scarface.” That was a movie numbnut and the lead actor is Italian.

    Bad comparison. Just sayin.’

What a stupid fucking comments in this article. Obama was the one who was banning the Cubans getting in here in the first place. Also, those countries that are on the ban did and still do have terrorists disguised as refugees. We can’t take that chance right now.

In the good old days, all immigrants were fully vetted & de-loused before clearing Ellis Island. American sponsors were required to gain admittance. The sick, maimed, or those deemed non-contributory were routinely sent back across the ocean. Trump is only enforcing existing statutes trampled by liberal ideals for decades. I, for one, feel a sense of security today not enjoyed since the end of the Cold War.

With all this red tape and vetting process it should take years for them to get here. By the way try venturing into Canada as a convicted felon.
We may or may not have a problem with immigration but illegals give the perception we do. Maybe all the Trump haters feeling persecuted should apply for asylum elsewhere. America no longer is a “safe place”.

Okay smart guy. If you want to come on here and be pro-terrorism, pro-muslim, and pro-9/11, go for it. This liberal extremist snowflake-ism won’t fit in many places at TBS, but it does on this post. So have at it. But when TB goes back to trashing niggers, slutcunts, and trannys (the reason most of us come here), don’t come back crying. In fact, don’t come back at all.

From the Office of Unsolicited Advice: That last paragraph about Cuba seems like just an add-on to the main post, not germane. Excise it, change the headline, make a *Correction/Update” notification. Just sayin, mistakes happen, fix ’em. It’s disracting from your main point.

Sorry TB but you’re absolutely wrong on this one. Refugees from Cuba are fleeing communism. They come to America to embrace our values and freedoms. Refugees from Muslim countries not so much especially if they’re Muslim. I do agree that Saudi Arabia should be taking the overwhelming majority of these refugees as they share a common culture. President Trump is absolutely correct in setting up this ban and is correct with the idea of extreme vetting.

    • John Galt
      January 29, 2017 at 3:13 pm

To add, most Cuban refugees have had their fill of anything Socialist. They happily embrace capitalism & are leery of baited handouts from government.

  • Turd Burglestein
    January 29, 2017 at 1:45 pm

Last time I checked, Cuban refugees weren’t the ones running around shouting allah snackbar, cutting off people’s heads, blowing up things, throwing gays off roofs, or flying planes into buildings.

I’m going to have to disagree with you on this one TB.

Using the two groups you’re comparing are like comparing Apples & Oranges.

Cubans coming to this country lived under communism and despise it. They don’t come to this country and infiltrate our culture to promote communism. They adopt American values and become valuable taxpaying members of society. These say Cuban refugees are part of the reason Florida when red in the last election cycle.

When it comes to Muslims immigrants/refugees we’re seeing a culture that does not adapt to American values. You have people like Linda Sarsour who you’ve recently mentioned who actually want American values to change to fit their needs. A statistic Milo Yiannopoulos likes to through out is poll that shows 52% of Muslims living in this country favor Sharia Law over our Constitution. That’s a problem.

America has and will always be a melting pot, but I completely agree President Trump’s initiative here. We want people coming to this country who will benefit society as a whole. Sharia Law should never be a law that governs our country.

Obama bombed Syria which caused refugees in the first place!

        January 29, 2017 at 1:40 pm

I can’t disagree with you on that. Obama and Hillary are responsible for making a complete mess over there in the first place.

However, it the interests of our cultural values and the safety of the American people as a whole to follow through with the Presidents executive order and vet refugees with extreme caution.

      • Me1333
        January 30, 2017 at 5:56 am

Yes Obama did. So what is your point since he’s gone and there is a new sheriff in town. I support my President! Where were the protests when obama was creating mess? Basically liberals are just protesting his entire presidency and nothing he does will satisfy them. He could outlaw pedophilia tomorrow and they would protest about the right to have child love. They are completely delusional!

You answered your own question right here. Saudi Arabia knows they’re trash. Go check out France sometime and see how it’s going around Paris or Sweden with open borders. It’s 90 DAYS!!!

One of Obama’s final acts was rescinding the “wet foot, dry foot” policy with regard to Cuba. Refugees from Cuba no longer have any special status.
