The Hysteria Over Confederate Statues Just Lost the Shred of Credibility It May Have Had

A major component of leadership is not getting people to follow you; it’s actually about getting people to go along with you. That also means you can tell a lot about an organization by both the leaders it creates and the people who believe in those leaders.

Keeping that in mind, today’s news from the Hoosier state is decidedly not very good for the “tear down the statues” crowd.

Take a good look at this guy.  His name is Anthony Ventura.  While we are not able to confirm if he’s related to former Chicago White Sox manager Robin Ventura or westler-turned-governor Jesse Ventura, we do know his dinner tonight will be courtesy of the taxpayers of Marion County as he was arrested for vandalizing a Confederate monument in Indianapolis’ Garfield Park.

First of all, just by looking at that mugshot, I’m pretty sure we can pencil in “mental illness” as your underlying cause for pretty much anything related to this guy.  I’m not a psychiatrist, but I’m going out on a limb and saying anybody with the “Charlie Manson Stare” probably doesn’t have both oars in the water.

Second of all, just look at this video.

I’ve got to wonder what the plan was here. If this guy really thought he was going to take down a 50-ton chunk of granite with a $7 hammer from Home Depot, then there’s no doubt the cheese slipped off his cracker.

But the best part of this story is that the monument he thought he could take down is actually dedicated to Confederate prisoners of war who died in a prison camp in Indiana. Now, if you don’t remember, Civil War prison camps weren’t exactly up to snuff as far as the Geneva Convention was concerned. In fact, they were dismal hell-holes somewhere in between the Turkish prison from “Midnight Express” and the Bataan Death March. In other words, this knucklehead was protesting the Confederacy by defacing a monument to an atrocity committed AGAINST the Confederacy.

So, there you have it. If you are the leadership of the “tear down the statues” movement, this is who you’re inspiring. Not only does your cause have zero chance at tangibly changing anything because it’s pure symbolism over substance, but you’re trying to build an army of social justice warriors from the ranks of the crazy, stupid, or both.

What – no one’s going to mention the obvious cultural appropriation of his dreadlocks?

Sounds like the piece they had on the news about the small boarded up memorial they have on that island out in Boston Harbor dedicated to the Confederate soldiers who died while they were there as prisoners of war. I’m normally all for Charlie Baker and his non-nonsense approach to most things, but he seems to be hinting at taking that down, which is sad that people cannot differentiate between a statue of a Confederate leader/general, and one honoring where Americans died as a prisoner of war, no matter what side they were serving on.

The civil war was not about slavery. It was about tyrannical government control of states. History has just been gradually changed over time by the progressive public school system to paint it that way. Progressives have invaded the public school system over the past three decades for a number of reasons. First is that young childrens minds are impressionable and easy to manipulate especially with today’s parenting. The second major reason is there is very few professions where performance is not related to keeping your job and this happens to be one of them.

Slavery did come into play, but the war was started for the reasons you mention. The North was basically trying to kill off the South by way of horrendous taxing, blockades so trade with other countries died off & other shady stuff. Slavery sucks. Always has, always will, which is why I get really ticked off that everyone of these SJWs ignores that slavery is still in place in various Sub-Saharan African nations, as well as in the Middle East. Nobody seems to give a flying fook that we even have something very much similar to slavery in the USA with prostitutes/sex workers, who are often children, being sold between pimps. *sigh*

“Poster boy” might be related to the equally demented ex Minnesota governor(who at least was a US Navy SEAL) but i’m thinking more Ace Ventura pet detective, because if this cat isn’t a fictitious character,he certainly should be
