Wanna talk DACA? I have to admit that I didn’t really know about this before Trump ended it. Must have been my ‘white privilege’. But I have done some research, which, I suspect, is more than all those whining lefties have done before they took to Facebook to cry about how mean Trump is. I swear that Trump could cure cancer and end poverty and these loonies would still find something to bitch about.

You remember when Trump was signing all those Executive Orders (EO’s) and the left was having a fit about it? ‘That’s not the way to legislate’. ‘He’s abusing his power.’ Well, the right of the President to use EO’s exists and all Presidents have done so in the past. Even former President God himself – that’s how we ended up with DACA in the first place. I guess when Obama uses EO’s it’s OK because Congress is mean and won’t pass any bills for him. And he’s smarter than everyone anyway so let him do what he wants.

EO’s are really just temporary measures – a way for the sitting president to get what he wants, score political points and make the next guy or gal, who will undoubtedly be from the opposite party – the bad guy or gal.
So here we are, hearing about all these ‘Dreamers’ and how they contribute to society and pursuing amazing careers and how they shouldn’t be punished for the actions of their parents.

We’ll look a little deeper into who these ‘Dreamers’ really are but first let’s look at the theory that these children shouldn’t have to suffer over the illegal actions of their parents. Ok, if these parents took their child to a movie and didn’t but a ticket and where kicked out whose fault would it be? The theater’s or the parents? Should the child be allowed to stay and finish the movie? Or if the parents stopped paying rent and were evicted whose fault would that be? The landlord or the parents? And, does the child get to stay in the apartment?
And now some facts about DACA and the 800,000 Dreamers.

The number of Dreamers who’ve lost their deferment due to criminal or gang activity has increased by 30% in the 5 years it’s been in effect. And the deferments aren’t pulled over minor misdemeanors. These are felonies and serious or multiple misdemeanors.

The [DACA] eligibility bar was set very low, explicitly allowing people with multiple misdemeanor and certain felony convictions to be approved. Only a handful of the applicants were ever interviewed, and only rarely was the information on the application ever verified,” said Jessica M. Vaughan, director of policy studies at the Washington-based Center for Immigration Studies….

So, if these folks are already criminals it shouldn’t be a surprise when they break the law again.
7.5% of Dreamers over 18 had 4 year degrees or higher. By comparison native born Americans with degrees is about 33%.

DACA applies to ‘children’ up to age 35 – so not really these helpless little babies the media would have you believe.

Dreamers are illegal aliens.

DACA is really an amnesty program.

DACA is illegal – and not because of the use of an EO – but because we have an immigration law and this is in direct violation of that law.

DACA is unconstitutional – Obama over-reached his authority by granting amnesty and benefits to these Dreamers. I’m not constitutional lawyer – so let’s check with one –

Welp – there you go.

In the run-up to the election Hillary said she would expand DACA and Trump said he would end it – Trump won – the people have spoken.

Now, we can debate about whether these illegal aliens are taking jobs from young Americans – logic would dictate that they are – at least the ones that are bothering to work. There’s a finite number of jobs and hundreds of thousands of additional workers – you can do the math.

And if we want to suspend reality a bit – you know – the one where all these Dreamers are pursuing degrees – and think about what that would mean for my kids and the kids of these bleeding-heart libs. Just like there are a limited number of jobs there are a limited number of spots in each incoming college class. So, what happens when little Johnny doesn’t get into his dream school because little Jose took his spot? Are these screaming lefties really OK with sacrificing there’s child’s dream for the dream of an illegal alien? Is that their ‘white guilt’ speaking? You know that it is.

After it was signed, 26 states where suing the Obama administration over DACA. Now that it’s being rescinded, 15 states are suing Trump – interestingly the basis for their suit is that Trump didn’t follow the necessary rule making process – you know that same rule making process that Obama avoided when he single-handedly enacted DACA.

This is obviously a complicated issue and one that shouldn’t be enacted with a single stroke of a pen. It belongs in Congress – debated by our representatives. Trump is forcing them to finally deal with this issue, he’s giving them 6 months – they’ve failed for 16 years to figure it out- but now the pressue is on. Obama took the easy way out and kicked the can down the road and put the country in the position it is today. He should be shouldering the blame, but just like every other snowflake – it’s someone else’s fault.

The intent of the post wasn’t to present a balanced argument – it was to bring to light the other side of what we’re seeing from CNN et al.

The “other side” is that it’s a crime to enter the United States illegally, as stated in US Code § 1325. As of Sept 8, 2017 that law has not been overturned. Happy now?

          Correction: that’s 8 US Code § 1325.

Great investigative reporting, But you failed to cite anything from the pro-DACA side ( I’m sure it’s just an oversight) !!!!!

Pro-DACA? you mean the side that is pro bypassing laws?

DACA was around 800,000 people. That is less than 1/300th of the population of this country. Why are we not as focused on the homeless, the veterans, the abused children, abused spouses? Are we really telling the world we would rather focus on 800,000 people who have no legal standing to be here (regardless of how they got here) than the nearly 700,000 abused kids, 10,000,000 men and women involved in partner related violence, 39,000 homeless veterans on any given day, or the estimated 1.6 million children who end up homeless at some point in any given year?
Let’s really put this into perspective. The ‘Dreamers’ are not in imminent danger of losing their lives, homes, or stay in the US… and even if they were, ICE has already said they would be a VERY low priority. But the above mentioned classes are… all estimated 10,739,000 of them. By the way, that’s about 3% of the population vs 0.2% …

It’s very easy for New Englanders to have an opinion regarding immigration/DACA because it really doesn’t effect our lives in any meaningful way.

          So you don’t pay taxes?
I sure as hell do and want my hard earned tax dollars spent on Americans.

What exactly are the pros? These are non-tax paying thugs with criminal records. Only thing I’m upset about is how bad the smell will be when we throw them all in ovens.

Do you have a source for those numbers? Also, Trump is not rescinding DACA – he is pressing congress to make it permanent.
