So this Turtleboy just started getting into the Walking Dead this season because it’s all the rage right now. I invested every Sunday night to watching what I was told is currently the best show on television. The Season Finale was tonight, and everyone knew that a main character was supposed to be killed by the ultimate bad guy – Negan. The legend says this guy always kills one person in every group with a baseball bat covered in barbed wire that he called “Lucille.” In the comic strip it was one of the original characters – Glenn. In tonight’s long ass, 90 minute episode with a record number of commercials, they had a bunch of the g00d guys – some main characters, and some who were probably made to die – all lined up like this:

Finally after 15 minutes of tension Negan makes his choice, but the camera switches to that person’s point of view. Then you see the camera fade to black as that person gets beaten to death and the season ends.

I just wanna say, that this is the corniest, most cliche way to end a show. This is the type of rookie move you pull if you’re trying to get people to watch your show. But it’s already the most popular show on TV, so basically the writers did it because they don’t really give a shit about the fans because they know they’re just gonna tune in either way. They’re just trying to to drive up ad revenue. Just because they can.

It also proves that the Walking Dead can’t even sniff the jock strip of great shows like Breaking Bad and The Wire. When a major character dies, you wanna absorb it. That doesn’t happen if you take six months off and then find out who’s dead. You stop caring as much.

This is what happens when writers start to develop an ego. Same shit happened with the Sopranos. That show was great for four seasons. Then they tried to get artsy and made us try to give a shit about where Meadow was gonna apply to law school or Carmella’s trip to Paris. Finally they ended with a bullshit non-ending that was left up to your imagination. Almost the same way that tonight’s episode ended. That’s not why people watch these shows. We want non-stop action and immediate gratification. Not some cliffhanger bullshit.

I’ll definitely watch next season, but all you Walking Dead people need to come to terms with the fact that this is really just a second rate show about zombies and assholes that was designed to make as much money as possible.

P.S. The only way this could be any worse is if he killed one of the minor characters. If you leave your viewers with blue balls like that and you killed some chump that everyone knew was gonna die anyway, your show is a huge joke.

Double P.S. I know this is what they want you to do, but who do you think got killed? Glenn is the favorite, followed by Eugene and Darryl. I say it’s that guy Aaron and you’re all gonna realize how bullshit this was from the get go.

oh – its also fair to point out that the very end Negan says, “if anyone moves, if anyone says anything, cut the boy’s other eye out and feed it to his father”

Which means neither Carl nor Rick are getting killed.

I can not say that i am really a fan of the end of season cliff hangers but i have a better understanding for them after hanging out with an old friend for a couple of days during my trip to California last year. My friend, Chris Collins ( writer’s assistant & production coordinator for season 6 of Sopranos and producer/writer for seasons 2-4 of Sons of Anarchy) says that end of season cliff hangers on TV today have more to do with production budget flexibility especially in later seasons.

As he explains it, the longer any tv show stays on the air, the more expensive it is to produce because everyone gets paid more (the actors and behind the scenes people). A show may peak during season 3 & 4 in ratings which is where the show earns the most money but the actors and everyone behind the scene will continue to receive pay increases as the show goes on, even if/when ratings fall a bit.

So, the way they ended last night’s episode of TWD, the writers know who took the fury of Lucille… and if they stay true to the comics, its Glenn. He is has also been around from the beginning so he is one of the highest paid cast members. However, many if not all of the main characters will be in negotiations for contracts for season 7. If any of them … like Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan make crazy pay demands, they can easily change the story (especially with Reedus since his character is not in the comics.)

My prediction (as long as none of the main characters ask for ridiculous $$ to return) is the following:

    1. Glenn gets Lucille, he makes a quick cameo in the season 7 premier, then he is gone.
    2. Melissa McBride has been around since the beginning and her current condition is circling the drain. Morgan will try to get her back to Alexandria… they will run into trouble and in a last bit of heroics, she will sacrifice her life saving Morgan.
    3. Daryl (Norman Reedus) will be killed off at the mid season finale.
    4. Tom Payne (Jesus) will take on a main role.
    5. Lennie James (morgan) will be more of a badass after carol’s death and while he was cast as a main in season 6 … he will be a more major main character in season 7.

There’s an answer missing from the poll – who cares?

I’ve never had any desire to watch Walking Dead, and bullshit season finales like this aren’t making me want to start. Give me an episode of Blue Bloods any day.

This show is probably the most overrated show to date. Huge fan because the comics are great and action packed. They dragged out the intro of Neegan for a whole half season. When he should have been introduced 4 episodes ago. Complete sellout….. best show to date probably Game of Thrones, followed by Breaking Bad.

It’s like Grey’s Anatomy if they let their patients rise from the dead. I still didn’t know is what a show after like 2 seasons.
