So when you call this particular Turtleboy’s cell phone and I don’t answer, it’s almost a guaranteed the phone will ring at The Laser Zone on Plantation Street and they will answer. It’s the strangest thing in the world but it happens all of the time, ever since this Verizon strike started. We’ve been in talks with them about advertising in the future, so I assume the fact that I’ve called them from my phone has something to do with it. It can’t just be a coincidence right? Is this happening to anyone else? Are the scab replacement workers drunk or just incompetent? I couldn’t tell you the first thing about this strike but I know this:

2016055734cad62ff2b

So yea, I don’t care what the issue is, but Verizon just needs to fix this shit. Because I’m counting down the days until my plan runs out and I can switch over to AT&T. If your workers go on strike and my service gets affected by it, that one is on the company. It’s their job to make sure this never, ever happens. Get your shit together Verizon.

We urge you to support the Turtleboy Sponsors by doing business with them. Without them none of this is possible. Click on any of them to check out their sites or Facebook pages.

SAY WHAT???? “I couldn’t tell you the first thing about the strike but I know this:
    I side with the strikers”
That is the dumbest statement as I’ve ever read here. So they could be asking for anything,ANYTHING and you agree with em. WTF?
I have no dog in this fight, don’t use Verizon, not Union, not anti Union just amazed and amused at that statement. Turtlefool you may want to revisit that one.

I apologize I did not realize that there were 100 wireless workers on strike. May I also clarify that while Lowell McAdam is the CEO of Verizon the wireless side of things also has a CEO and his name is John Stratton “Google it”. The company is broken into two reportable segments wireline and wireless. Wireless with 100 unionized employees made a 38 billion dollar profit while the fully unionized wireline segment made a profit of 2 billion. Verizon is accountable to their stock holders it is there job to maximize profits. Unless they go private stop complaining that they are trying to lower costs and start buying up there shares

Sleeve, check your sources again – John Stratton is the Executive Vice President and President of Operations for both wireline (aka landline) and wireless and Lowell McAdam is the CEO AND chief Executive Officer of Verizon Communications – a provider of WIRELESS, FIBER-OPTIC (FiOS aka landline) and global internet network and services. Yes Verizon is accountable to their stockholders. I as an employee and well educated in their earnings and stock am a stock holder and wish to see the price of the stock grow. The consolidated revenues which I believe you are referring to is actually 131.6 billion for the 2015 fiscal year. Lowell McAdams compensation has not been reported as of yet for 2015. His reported compensation for 2014 was 18.3 million. John Stratton’s was 6.3 million. With 1.8 monthly billion in profit for a company that does not pay federal taxes there is no reason the unionized employees cannot keep what they currently have. They are not asking for more benefits. Would you like to call for customer service and reach the Philippines where the representative’s only function is to sell you something? All for the sake of the bottom line? Do you want to call for service and be told that you have to wait over a week or two weeks because there are no technicians available? We are an internet age, I know my household would not be able to run without Internet. Homework and daily life would be effected. Don’t you pay enough for your service? Don’t you expect quality in return ?

Oh, look, the same typical anti-Union bullshit you see on every other forum with any sense of a conservative voice.

Must be nice to all be so secure if your futures or for some reason be fucking proud that you need to work two jobs and 60+ hours to get by.

Verizon union workers are out there cutting service lines and they want public sympathy??

Not a chance. The vast majority of unions attempt to bully and manipulate in order to reach their self serving goals.

Okay, okay…let me clarify. i MEANT Verizon and National Grid NOT Charter. Long day, give me a break.

Charter is an awful company though..honestly, so is Verizon! They both charge wayyyy too much money for their services. I have had Verizon for cell phone for 15 – 18 years and it has the best reception everywhere…my work phone is Sprint, reception sucks in a lot of places.

Anyway, MY BAD…my pole is NOT owned by Charter, it is owned by National Grid – they likely line their pockets with the same dough anyway.

Gotta say I belong to the teacher’s union and unions sure aren’t what people think – or at least that one isn’t. It does NOTHING for anyone except steal a good chunk of your paycheck each week. Biggest scam going. I’d gladly give up that ‘benefit’ and keep my money. I show up every day and do a great job, I have nothing to worry about and don’t need them ‘protecting’ me. What a joke.
I do think Verizon sucks – they are the most expensive plan out there, making billions, and all of the workers who got them there can now go to hell and lose everything they worked for, like their house. Show them with your money-there are lots of less expensive options. If you don’t care wait until it’s your company heading overseas.

As a teacher too, I agree with a bit of your sentiment but not all. I agree the amount to contribute is too high, but I work in a district where we do not require membership, nor do we even charge a negotiation fee. So people are free not to join. The only risk is that they will not be given a union lawyer if a kid makes some frivolous claim. You could end up spending thousands in legal fees. And you never know when you’re gonna get the basket case principal who maybe just doesn’t line ought some reason. What if they got rid of you even though tou were doing your job. What do you do then? We’ve all seen a few good teachers be let go like this throughout our careers. You don’t sound like a member who even likes the benefits. So why join? Just pay the negotiation fee and protest.

Likely the strikers getting hit were unlawfully blocking traffic and using mob bullying to intimidate people just trying to make a living – and these two guys panicked in fear for their lives.

How are these union mobs’ actions any different than Mosaic down at Kelley Square or the other BLM useful idiots blocking I-93? Same entitled, chickenshit, mob mentality BS – just different names and skin tones. Love how tough these posuers are when they got a mob behind them. And people wonder where the Occupy & BLM lowlifes got their mentalities?

i hope those Verizon workers are out for a long time and end up getting fired. They prove what is wrong with unions today.
Most of them do one or two jobs a day and go park somewhere for the rest of the day. This happens from the top down. They have been riding the gravy train way to long. They could get rid of half of them and service would not be affected.

    • Jstella
      May 19, 2016 at 9:37 am

Again, uneducated Mike. Verizon monitors all employees from the technicians to the call center workers with state of the art systems. We are not talking about the old Ma-Bell days. The trucks have GPS, all jobs are monitored by a manager from the garage who can see where the tech is, who knows when the technician is on the job and when he clears the job. If the job is not cleared in the estimated time the technician is getting called by said manager on his/her company issuex cellphone what also has a GPS.

Turtleboy, I beg you to learn and investigate the strike. 39,000 worker and their families which equates to approximately 130k people are effected. What Mike does not realize is, if the employees are fired you will now have MORE people on Mass Health, receiving food stamps, fuel assistance, unemployment etc. Educate yourself Mike

Those friends of yours must be in a management role or an acting/temporary management role as we are monitored and need to be accountable for every second of out day – including our bathroom breaks. So not buying that you have several friends that work for the company that are home by noon. If you did you would know what they go thru day in and day out. The disciplines they face and the hardships they are now facing.

If you are in the bathroom for more than 4 minutes multiple times a month you will be spoken. To privately by your manager and ask “is there something that we can do to help you cut down on your bathroom time”. They’re offshoring jobs to India, where they pay people LESS THAN $2 an hour. Verizon is a money making machine… There is no GOOD reason for all of this outsourcing and cut backs.

Bottom line. Without unions in this country there would be no middle class. Middle class drives this country. The rich would not give zero fucks and the poor would be powerless. Jobs that should be here now are now gone overseas and south of the boarder.

I believe the leadership of unions are NOT doing enough! Fat fucking cats on the executive boards of these corrupt unions watching out for their own asses and pretending to be inline with the fellowship. It’s fucking absolute bullshit. Un – fucking – believable bullshit.

And once the fellowship realizes what bullshit is going on then they can vote and make their changes from within then the winds of change in a positive sense will bring solidarity and high moral where it should be. Or at least heading in the right direction.

    • Jstella
      May 18, 2016 at 5:19 pm

You are not educated on the strike “The Sleeve”. Both the landline/FiOS and Wireless are on strike. Not all of the wireless stores have unionized yet. The company is one and run by the same management and CEO Lowell McAdam – google it. The company is looking to offshore the call center jobs to the Philippines where they can pay $1.75 an hour. They do not want the unions, they are destroying the middle class jobs. Without a middle class we will become a middle east country with poor people and rich people. They want to send the technicians to other states for up to 2 months at a time, away from their families. This company has made 1.8 BILLION in PROFIT per month for the first quarter of the year – google it. Ask yourselves why a company with so much money is hiring replacement workers who are not qualified to do the job. One of the workers who struck a strike has had 3 previous DUIs and the other has not had a license in 12 years – he was also driving a Verizon vehicle that requires a CDL license. You do not have to agree/like a union to support keeping good jobs within America.

      • TommyDan
        May 22, 2016 at 8:51 pm

    May 18, 2016 at 3:58 pm

Charter doesn’t own the poles. I was told it’s either Verizon or the power company. I had problems with a pole in my backyard in Worcester. A worker gave me a number to call, I think it’s the Union Hall. Those guys got it taking care of. 508-853-2325

I would wait until after the strike to call, unless you want some drunk guys from Texas or Florida trying! They may run you and the neighbors kids over while they do it.

    • Julie
      May 18, 2016 at 5:04 pm

That is the union hall number.

  • Jon
    May 18, 2016 at 3:32 pm

In my neighborhood one side of the streets telephone poles are owned by awful charter (my side) and the houses directly across the street have poles owned by Verizon (old neighborhood, poles run through back yards). So the poor old guy directly across the street from me has been having problems, but we’re fine.

even if the workers weren’t on strike he still likely wouldn’t get any help though, cause it’s like pulling teeth to get either company to do any work on the rotting out poles in the out back. I don’t think they’ve been replaced since the built the houses for Norton back in the 30s.

It is Holy Shit! So I’m the neighbor that blows off fireworks from my back yard with about 20 or 30 people on July 4th, three kegs of beer minimum and a ton of food cooking on my Webber. Follow the firecracker noise, the grilled food smell and come on over!

          • Jon
            May 18, 2016 at 11:07 pm

r u the dude who also continues to set off left over fireworks throught the remainder of the summer every year? cause there’s one place that’s always setting them off from the 4th til labor day….not constantly, but at least every other weekend I see one or two late night.

If you’ve ever heard what sounds like a cannon in the middle of the night (last summer) i was making some homemade fireworks and lit off some mill powder (ungranulated black powder) a few times for fun with my buddies.

I’m currently at price chopper picking up a few things but im gonna post back here when im home, and if u wanna have an ear out, i will totally light the mini cannon to see if u hear it. haha…awesome.

          • Jon
            May 18, 2016 at 11:56 pm

After telling my wife “FYI, I might set off the cannon tonight” she convinced me that doing so would probably not be the best idea…considering there are a TON of other people who know my neighborhood. So no chance of that right now.

We would have to meet up at some neutral zone, really. Cause I can’t give u any personal info here, and neither can you. Yeah, I could “follow the fireworks on the fourth” but I would likely end up in the wrong guy’s yard. Plus, I have two young kids and wouldn’t want to be walking around with them searching for “some dude I met on Turtelboy Sports that I don’t even know”‘s house…and after their asleep, the fire works will be gone and I won’t have any direction to travel.

We’ll have to meet at the old school down the road, or the park expansion construction zone, or the small store that used to be a railroad stop (I’m not naming it for obvious reasons). Sketchy shit for sure, but I have faith in other human beings..I’m 99.9% sure you won’t rape me. haha Don’t prove me wrong mother fucker!

            May 19, 2016 at 12:26 am

I love it you got a fucking cannon? That is AWESOME! You also must be talking about the Brattle Market who, by the way, makes the best Italian Subs on planet earth. Get one with no hots and mayo no dressing slightly toasted. You will accidently bite the inside of your mouth (which will hurt) because you chomped the ever living shit out of that bad boy way too hard like I always fucking always always do.

And no I don’t do rape you nut! Maybe rap but not rape. I’ve tried Rap a few times and am very very bad at that. “Anytime I rhyme to save some time on a dime and there I go, gettin’ stupid blah blah blah” And that’s where it falls of the cliff aka crash and burn. Maybe Big O can teach me how to be a sucky rapper, not get a job, make money and go into Boston’s Back Bay and have a fucking $700.00 piece of stake with out even a drink.

And yes, Brattle was most definitely what I was talkin about. We’ll definitely have to get together one of these days bro. Too fucking funny that we live this close bro. Holy shit.

I’ll give u fair warning next time before I light off the “cannon” – last time I did it was last summer – one of my ear plugs fell out as I lit it and I couldn’t hear out of my left ear for two days…was NOT cool. I gotta at least wait until all the neighbors have their A/Cs in before I do it this season. haha
