This Day In History – Al Capone Gets Away With Murder, Poles Start Killing Nazis, Dresden Gets Creampied, Ayatollah Assaholah, Idiots Get Luck With YouTube

On this day in history, February 14, the following stuff happened:

  • 1929 St Valentine’s Day Massacre in Chicago, 7 gangsters killed, allegedly on Al Capone‘s orders

When you outlaw a product that people want, like booze, people are gonna find a way to get it. And the only people selling it will be criminals. In came Al Capone, the heir to the throne of the Johnny Torrio’s Chicago mafia. And unlike legally owned businesses, the mob doesn’t allow competitors, especially if they’re Irish. Bugs Moran’s gang decided to do things their own way, so Capone’s guys dressed up as cops and pretended to conduct a police raid on the stash house. They lined up 7 dudes, had them put their hands up against the wall under the guise that they were going to be arrested, and then they were all taken down with machine gun fire. There were no witnesses left behind and Al Capone never was charged for it. He had an alibi anyway – he was in Florida. The only thing they could ever get him on was tax evasion, which was still a federal crime and got him sent him to Alcatraz where he eventually died from a STD because he stuck his dick in every crevice of every whorehouse in Chicago.

  • 1942 The Polish resistance movement, the Home Army, is formed and will eventually become the largest resistance movement in occupied Europe

One of my favorite parts about teaching history was the resistance movements during WW2. It wasn’t covered in any of the textbooks because there’s so much information for kids to learn in these chapters. It was a pretty big war after all. But every time Hitler took over a country and the governments surrendered to him, there was always a faction of people who vowed to resist the Nazis from within. You can conquer a country’s government, but you can’t the spirit and will of the people in that country. These heroes lived in the woods, ambushed Nazis, blew up railroads to prevent supplies from getting to the front lines, coordinated with British spies who parachuted behind enemy lines or with the Russians in the east, spread propaganda, and in Denmark they evacuated the entire country’s population of Jews to Sweden. Poland was easy to conquer because it has the misfortune of being in between two monsters – Russia and Germany. It’s also flat like Kansas and had a easily beaten army. But Poles are not to be trifled with, and these people loved blowing up rail lines and killing Nazis. The problem was that because they were “liberated” by the Soviets they just ended up trading in one form of tyranny for another when it was all said and done.

Hitler was such a queef. After D-Day in 1944 the war was effectively over. The Russians had stopped the Axis offensive at Stalingrad in 1943 and had been sweeping through Eastern Europe. Anyone with a brain knew they had no shot, including many of Hitler’s generals. But when you give a madman complete power you have to sit there and shutup while your people get massacred by the Allies. And the bombing of Dresden was the most vicious and sustained bombing effort of the European part of the war. They crushed German production, but more importantly they crushed their spirits by killing tons of civilians. Kurt Vonnegut wrote a book about it. They probably should’ve just surrendered, or not tried to take over the world in the first place.

  • 1989 Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Khomeini issues a fatwa calling for the death of Salman Rushdie and his publishers due to his novel “Satanic Verses”. A bounty was also place on his head.

Salman Rushdie is a hero of mine because he believes in free speech and is willing to die for it. When the Ayatollahs took over in Iran in the late 70’s it turned into a Muslim theocracy. And any country in which God (especially Allah) is ultimately in charge isn’t a country that’s gonna have a lot of freedoms. The Satanic Verses was critical of Islam, and Rushdie knew it would mean certain death for him if he published it. Because Islam is the only religion that you’re not allowed to criticize. Yet the West caters to it despite the fact that pretty much everything it teaches runs counter to western values. But Rushdie published it in Britain anyway, knowing they’d put a Fatwah on his head. The scary part is that the West is slowly trending towards this authoritative, censorial, mob driven outlook on free speech. If Salman Rushdie published a book called, “There are only 2 genders,” or “Learn to Code,” he’d quickly realize that SJW mobs are a lot like Ayatollah mobs, just with more hashtags and less suicide bombings. Imagine what it’s like to realize that you’re not allowed to criticize certain groups of people? Oh wait, everyone reading this already knows what that feels like.

  • 2005 – YouTube is launched by a group of college students, eventually becoming the largest video sharing website in the world and a main source for viral videos.

All these tech companies are nothing more than a bunch of nerds in the right place at the right time. How hard was it to come up with this idea? If a bunch of college kids can think it up then it’s really not that novel of a concept. But Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube just beat everyone else to the punch by creating what was supposed to be a neutral platform where individuals could upload their own content and share it with the masses. Then they sold all of our data and aggregated the earth’s population on their websites they decided to become a bunch of righteous ideologues and ban anyone who was fun or interesting. Oh well, at least they let us stay on their platform, unlike Facebook and Twitter.

Yeah they didn’t get the entire Jewish population out of Poland and the Russians broke a non aggregation pact 16 days after Germany invaded. The communist polish peoples army worked with the ruskies because they were insurgents. After the war the resistance was sent to the gulags.

What I found interesting is how in Galicia and elsewhere the peasant armies of Poles and Ukrainians were still killing each other under Nazi rule while the wehrmacht sat back and ate popcorn.

    Uncle Turtle Boy,

I honestly wish I had you as a history teacher. I didnt have the luxury of going to the prestigious Worcester public high school. You must have been a great teacher. It’s too bad that those kids probably did not appreciate what you had to say or teach.

I probably would have been your best student. I love history as well. Like yourself I have a thing for the revolution. Though I love all other aspects of history. History of the revolution as well as the world wars is really my thing.

Kind of wish I had the opportunity to meet you in person. It would be nice to engage with someone who likes history as much as my self. Though I would be stoned af you would be welcome to partake. I dont know anyone who likes history who is my age. especially history of our country good or bad. It’s a shame that people are trying to scrub our past. They are doing what the nazi’s did in ww2. Though they have not gone as far as trying to create their own religion. Or trying to tie their ancestors to a people they did not come from. Its almost at that point and its scary.

I’m glad you have gotten your ass in gear and have started to do these blogs again!

Hundred of thousands of American, British and French died fighting Germans so our countries could invaded by foreigners and ruled by Jewish communists 70 years later.

I look at WW2 as a tremendous tragedy and waste of European lives these days instead of a victory.

“We’re doomed to repeat the past no matter what. That’s what it is to be alive. It’s pretty dense kids who haven’t figured that out by the time they’re ten…. Most kids can’t afford to go to Harvard and be misinformed.”
