Turtleboy was always a huge John Stewart fan. Granted, we didn’t always agree with all his political views, but you don’t have to agree with someone to appreciate what they do. And John Stewart’s show was original, funny, and brought the news to you in a way that no other show really did.
Unfortunately the guy who replaced him blows monkey balls. Trevor Noah is just the latest in a line of guys with British-sounding (yes, I realize he’s South African) accents who we’re supposed to laugh along with because they’re on TV. John Oliver and that fat guy with the late night show are the same thing. Why is this a thing now? Why are they trying to cram British guys down our throats like we’re Milo?
See, the thing about John Stewart was, he’s a liberal but he can dish out critical satire on just about anyone. Here’s one of his best segments ever about the most INSANE candidate for Senate ever – an unemployed, illiterate ratchet with no website, no home, and open warrants for his arrest named Alvin Greene, who somehow won a democratic primary:
Hilarious. You don’t wanna get TOO political on these shows. That’s how you become Rachel Maddow. But that’s all these British guys do – they rant about their brand of left wing politics in these self-indulgent, narcissistic monologues. Then everyone shares them on Facebook about how they “owned” or “destroyed” someone. It’s just not very funny. Way too political and way too serious. They’ve taken this brand that they inherited from Steven Colbert and John Stewart and they’ve fucked it up.

Oh look, a South African guy who thinks we’re all dumb because we believe in the electoral college. This is funny. Bro, you’re from a country where you can be found not guilty for a murder one day, and then another judge finds you guilty a week later. That happens in South Africa. But yea, America is the one everyone should be laughing at with our wacky electoral college. And how bout that deli analogy? Because one guy ordering a sandwich at the deli basically the same thing as 130 million people voting for President. Hilarious!!
I feel like everyone is being fooled by the accents. Take that away and literally no one laughs at this. Because it’s just not that funny.
