A month or so ago we we wrote a blog about a troll gang of militant Vegans attacking a New Bedford restaurant. The Farmer’s Kitchen was one of those little businesses that said they specialized in farm to table eating. Organic, free range, grass-fed meat and eggs. Kind of a hipster paradise.

The Vegans had seen that The Farmer’s Kitchen was throwing a pig roast to benefit the Fairhaven Dog Shelter and found it hypocritical. So the Vegans decided to start tanking the business ratings without ever having been there. Read it here

Insane SJW Vegans Savagely Attack A New Bedford Restaurant With False Reviews For Holding A Pig Roast To Raise Money For A Dog Shelter – All Because They Don’t Realize Their Cause Is Useless Because People Will Literally Never Stop Eating Delicious Meat

Yes, I have a serious problem with that.

The owner, Mike King, was thrilled with the blog I wrote defending them. I still stand by that blog today. It’s not okay for people who dislike meat to crap all over a local business just because they disagree with what’s being served.

Now, Mike sucked up all the free advertising he could get from our exposure. He posted pictures of our readers coming to buy tons of pulled pork and other food.

The weird thing is that he never, not once, helped us by posting the blog we wrote. Not even a link in the comments section. It’s not why we blog, but when someone is as thankful as Mike seemed to be, they usually share what we write. I won’t lie, this kind of went up my ass, but whatever. Lesson learned. That isn’t what this is about and I felt the need to address it flat-out.

I figured the whole thing was over and done with. Until…

Turtleboy Sports was tagged in a status by The Farmer’s Kitchen that just bugged the crap out of me.

Seems the Farmers Kitchen was being shut down by the New Bedford Board of Health. The reason King cited for the city closing his doors? Fake complaints from Vegans.

Fuck dude, are you serious? Yeah, no way.

People came out in droves to support this guy and here I was grimacing at my phone and saying something wasn’t right. The BOH doesn’t just close people down for serving meat when people hate meat. Mike King was lying. He thought we were useful idiots. You can’t get me much madder than that.

I decided to wait until the BOH released a statement. It sat with me all week. I kept checking back to the comments section on the blog our friends over at New Bedford Guide had posted. The comments did not disappoint.

(Matthew, stop mansplaining to my pal April. She nailed it and she knows that the Turtle isn’t stupid.)

Well look at that! Gross conditions and false pretenses? Thhhhhat sounds more like it.

I even told the Turtleboss this thing was bullshit. Clarence went ahead and poked the farmer. The famer decided to say he wanted to let us know that “it had happened again.” Right.

When the offical BOH statement came out it was more damning than I could imagine. He wouldn’t let the BOH inspectors ever come in and inspect his premises. He refused to address safety and health concerns.

NEW BEDFORD — The Farmers Kitchen, a producer of locally grown food goods, closed its doors for the final time July 13, owner Michael King told The Standard-Times on Wednesday.

However, the closure wasn’t voluntary.

The New Bedford Health Department served King with an order to cease and desist all operation on July 13 at his business, 2112 Acushnet Ave.

“In this case, the failure by the owner(s) to license the establishment and address sanitary concerns, are serious concerns for the health department,” acting Director of Public Health Sandra Manning said in a statement. “That said, the department remains open to working with The Farmers Kitchen to ensure they reach compliance with state and local health codes.”

King acknowledged that his permit was set to expire at the end of June, but said he sent the paperwork to renew it.

The city stated it attempted to schedule an appointment on July 5, but King didn’t comply.

King remembered the call but said it only confused him. He didn’t try to reach out to the city after it.

“This is the middle of the season for us,” King said. “We are going seven days a week. On some days, we have two (farmers) markets.”

Since the order, King said he’s had to skip a handful of farmers markets. He said they will not be at Thursday’s New Bedford farmers market at Custom House Square.

You got that?

His excuse? The process confused him and he was too busy. I shit you not.

This entire blog could have been avoided had Mike allowed Inspectors in to his kitchens. Because that didn’t happen he has zero proof that any of these coming allegations are unfounded. I, however, have text messages of him excited and admitting to gross shit.

Because Mike had tagged us in his farce of a post, the people who have had really bad run-ins with him in the past, decided to reach out to us to tell the alleged real reasons why his doors were boarded and it’s worse than you could ever believe. I’ve eaten here and I feel like puking. I’m surprised someone hasn’t gotten really sick before.

Do I have your attention now?

Two former business associates, several different farmers, and a few former customers reached out to us to give us a deeper look, with pictures and texts, about how Mike has been feeding his devoted customers, who thought they were getting clean, organic, homemade, local food the garbage that other businesses would donate as pig slop.

Basically, Mike set up a expired or unsellable food donation system with places like Trader Joe’s and the St. Vincent Food Bank. Mike would go to them and gather perishables that we’re no longer safe for human consumption. Canned goods, produce, meats, dairy, eggs. He’d load in to the back of his unrefrigerated truck and take it home to feed his animals.

Well that’s what he was supposed to do.

Mike, according to these sources, would go through the food, see what he thought he could get away with selling, and serve it to his customers. The same customers who were paying extra to support organic, local, famers were being fed rubbish meant for pigs.

Literal garbage.

Here he is telling his former business partner that he had just aquired 800lbs of expired coleslaw and was planning on making a profit off of it. He was going to add some store bought dressing to it.

That and the pot pies he markets as farm raised, fresh, organic, and handmade are bought from a store.

Starting to feel queasy yet? I’m not even close to being done.

Most of his “homemade” sauces, like what he is telling people is his mother’s recipe, are allegedly bought in bulk, placed in to unsterilized jars, relabeled, and sold as his own. He stored them on the floor of his kitchen. Unrefrigerated. Anyone hungry for some botulism?

Here is a picture of bulk pepper jelly just chilling on the floor.

Here it is jarred on the counter as local and fresh.

The source that took this next picture says it’s some expired meat that Mike was defrosting which was donated for the pigs.

It was frozen and expired upon coming in on the unrefrigerated pig truck and Mike left it out to defrost with a fan on it. That’s not how you defrost food in the industry!

“He said to us ‘look what I have to make meat pie with and it was all free,” the former business associates said.

The two sources, who had worked with Mike, went on to say the beef, after it had sat out all night, was gray, some in broken packages, laying in a pool of blood.” That Mike made meat pies and sold them at the local farmers markets for weeks to come.

The crust was store bought.

Once the business had lost power and everything in the freezer should have been destroyed. Nope, Mike apparently refroze it and served it for months to come.

The same source said that Mike would allow things like gravy to sit out overnight, when he was told that wasnt hygienic, he would stick his bare, unwashed, fingers in it and slurp it off them to prove it was okay for him to eat.

If that’s not bad enough, everyone I spoke with said Mike is infamous for plugging his “farm fresh” stock with grocery store produce, eggs, and meat. So you aren’t getting grass fed food. You’re buying whatever is on sale at the local market, repackaged, for an inflated price.

Allegedly even some of the fresh eggs are off the pig truck too.

Like these cartons of eggs from Trader Joe’s. (They are on the counter) He would mix those in with the few eggs he got from his farm and then charge $5 a dozen to people who thought they were getting farm fresh eggs. Mike would get them for free or spend less than $1 a dozen.

The source said that Mike’s farm was never big enough to ever have the kind if output he was producing.

It didn’t matter where the food came from. As long as his customers didn’t know and he could still turn a profit. With the BOH unable to come through the door who was there to stop him?

Mike, who was part of the community of farmers that would sell at farmer’s markets, also announced that he would be donating 10% of his income from his market sales to the medical expenses of a young boy whose family was told he would need a heart transplant immediately after birth.

The family never saw the money. Mike had profited off the name of a family in need because people sought him out to buy just for the sake of the family… and he took the cash.

Mike’s response to all of this criticism?

You were right man. I’m pretty fucking pissed. You would be too if you had just spent days rolling around in your own puke like a sick dog after having to write this blog. I think I’d rather eat Clyde’s weiner than anything Mike ever put in front of me.

Now someone do me a favor and send this web snippet over to the latest person he’s trying to screw over. The Primed and Ready Meals owner – just up the street in Mattapoisett. Mikey plans on selling his food there now. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Well, when he’s done suing everyone, including the city he wouldn’t let in the door, for calling him out on his shit.

So, the next time you think you’re smarter than the Turtle, you may want to think again.

I don’t agree with his sanitary standards but he was reducing, reusing and recycling.
Recycling isn’t just for bottles and cans! Food leftovers can be recycled as he did, every restaurant recycles and sells before the food goes bad. Trader Joe’s might sue him for theft but overall he did nothing wrong in getting the most out of tasty, nutritious food. Most of you don’t even know why you’re upset, the idea of honoring food is new to you in a culture where you throw away everything you don’t like.

In all fairness, a lit of that “not fit for human consumption” stuff that he got at Trader Joe’s was probably safe to eat…

Until it was put in the back of the pig shit truck.

Why didn’t all these people come forward and tell. The place should have been shut down the first time anyone witnessed it and had proof. It should have never continued , I am so grossed out now I am never eating out again.

They didn’t come forward because in his own way he was doing the right thing by not wasting food and helping to reduce everybody’s carbon foot-print and they were probably getting paid by him, they value the almighty dollar above all else.

I hope the backlash against this fraud doesn’t hit all the hardworking, dirt in the fingernails, achin’ back, true farmers that we have in our communities. Support CSA’s. Visit the farm. Talk to the farmers. Watch them toil in the 95+ degree heat from sunrise to sunset and buy their fresh picked food.

Real farmers use safe man made chemicals. Organic farmers use manure, shit, from cows, horses, pigs, chickens. The salmonella and intestinal parasites are a bonus.

Don’t forget the bowel movements left all over the fields by the illegals and hippies. May as well spray your fields down with a septic truck. Why do Mexicans wash their vegetables with bleach, they know veggies are soaked in human excrement.

“Oh look I got a corn kernel on my cucumber, how did that get there?”
“look at this zucchini it has gum stuck to it, I can’t get it off”

I worked at a Friendly’s ice cream when I was in college. To this day, 30 years later, I refuse to eat at a Friendly’s after witnessing some of the shit that went on behind the counter.

I think most people who have worked in the food service industry say the same thing about the places they work at.

    Where’s my girl Renee? I’m feeling a bit “engorged”….

I actually applaud this man! Shoving it up the asses of the phony Vegans and the Birkenstock crowd that flock to these places. Anybody who overpays for the shit they sell at these places deserves to get sick. Truth is 90% or more of the vendors there are probably doing the same thing. Eat a hamburger and some fried chicken like the rest of us normal people godammit!

Ever been to a Farmer’s Market? Anybody can relabel anything from Stop and Shop and get 3X the price as long as you make it pretty and call it organic. Fools will always be fools.

I hope he pops up somewhere else and continues his scams!

I bet it’s way more common in the CSA markets than any of us imagine.
Like somehow eating food sold by roving bands of “farm fresh” gypsies who have little to no oversight is heathier?
Farm fresh to these sodbusters really means covered in trace amounts of fecal matter, I’m sure of it.

Great thing to read when I wake up before a big test. I hope he falls in his pig pen and they go all Hannibal on him.

I support farmers markets and farms all around here, and this chode in one instant puts doubt into my mind which inevitably he had done to thousands of others, about going to these markets to buy food.

But I guess the solace comes from knowing for every one of him, there are dozens of others who do it the right way.

The apples are coming down the conveyor belt. The farmer tells the 7 year old Mexican boy that the good apples go in the regular box and the apples that are bruised or have blemishes go in the organic box. …..Seriously, just about all food raised in the USA, Canada and first world nations are organic because all the chemicals are virtually banned.
