Turtleboy Doesn’t Know Anything About AR-15’s, Which Makes Him About As Knowledgeable As Maura Healey

Everyone has been messaging us about this new ban on AR-15’s that Attorney General Maura Healy instituted out of the blue yesterday:

Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey announced Wednesday that she will enforce a ban on the sale of what she called “copycat” assault-style weapons, effective immediately.

“Gun manufacturers have manufactured these weapons as legal versions of prohibited guns,” Healey said. “These weapons are illegal. They are copies or duplicates of banned weapons, and they cannot be bought or sold in Massachusetts.”

“The gun industry doesn’t get to decide what’s compliant (with state law),” Healey said. “We do.”

Gun owners, however, said they had no notice of Healey’s interpretation of the law and were still unsure of what would be included.

“I’ve talked to six dealers today, and no one’s received anything,” said David Bourdeau, owner of Tombstone Trading Company, a Brookfield gun shop. “Everything we have so far is second and thirdhand.”

Advocates for the gun industry warn that Healey’s ban is likely to face a legal challenge.

“You have a person that’s unilaterally changing the laws without actually going through the process, then telling licensed retailers they’re not allowed to sell something basically with no notice,” said Jim Wallace, executive director of Gun Owners’ Action League of Massachusetts, a gun rights advocacy group. “This is going to be probably a very interesting legal challenge at some point.”

????????????????????????????????????

Look, Turtleboy doesn’t know the first thing about guns. I can already picture the comment section turning into an infomercial session about the differences between this gun and that gun and blah, blah, blah. But unlike Maura Healy, Turtleboy at least admits he has absolutely no clue what he’s talking about. That’s my beef here. The people creating these laws know dick about guns. They’re just doing this so they can pat themselves on the back and tell each other that they saved lives today, when we all know they didn’t.

Turtleboy is all for legislation that helps people. But how is this going to save lives in Massachusetts? Have we had a lot of mass killings around here involving AR-15’s? Did I miss that? Now that we’re banning them will all the AR-15’s out there magically disappear? Are people not capable of doing just as much damage with a handgun? How bout a truck? Or a pressure cooker bomb?

Honestly, I feel like the anti-gun control crowd should welcome this for now. This should ultimately prove you’re right. All you have to do is analyze the data from this ban after it’s been in existence for a year, and you’ll see that it will have zero effect on killings. Criminals are gonna get their hands on guns, and they’re gonna continue to kill other criminals. How will Maura Healey explain this phenomenon a year from now? That’s what I’d like to see. I’d love to see someone grill her on this each and every time someone gets shot with a handgun. She’ll look so stupid.

What annoys me the most about this is that this is ultimately the only action that our government is taking in response to the BLM inspired shootings in Dallas and Baton Rouge. After those incidents I thought we could all kind of unite and agree to support the police. But instead it turned into a crusade against guns. They won’t take down a banner on City Hall in Somerville that celebrates this hateful terrorist group, but they will do this. Makes sense.

The bottom line is that this will have zero affect on Turtleboy because he never had a desire to buy one of these guns. But it’s also gonna have zero affect on shootings and killings in Massachusetts, which makes it such a stupid, meaningless thing to do.

P.S. The Gun Parlor says thank you for increasing demand:

If you own a business that sells weapons, you obviously want people like Maura Healey in power right?

Criminals can not buy any kind of weapon in a legitimate commercial licensed firearms dealership. You need an FID or LTC in order to do so and convicted criminals can not get either one of those. Plus there are background checks based on valid identification when applying for an FID and LTC and your local Police Department and it needs to be signed off by that respective Chief of Police. If you suddenly turn into a criminal and get caught possessing a valid gun license it and your gun will be immediately revoked and weapon seized. All that info, Weapon serial numbers, Driver’s License, board of probation and WMS (Warrant Management System) are all apart of the same state informational system. A good system but like anything else is not totally perfect.

Mostly all firearms that do fall in the hands of criminals are stolen weapons from either an unsecure residence where the weapons were not secured properly or other types of facilities commercial or otherwise. House breaks with unsecured weapons are the leading cause.

So ban what you want “out of touch Healy” because your new fake ban will not make a dent on the issue but only to drive the demand of such weapons further up. Remember Prohibition?

I’m so relieved now that I know criminals won’t be able to get their hands on assault weapons. I just wish the AG and the esteemed members of the Great and General Court would see fit to make heroin illegal so that people would stop dying from that.

For what its worth, there really isn’t anything new being banned with this. These rifles were already banned as part of the original law, but manufacturers were selling “MA compliant” versions that really were just the same banned rifle minus the folding/telescoping stock and barrel threading. The only thing she is “changing” is to clarify the definition of “copy” and “duplicate”. People who already have them are fine but new sales will not be allowed.

Will never hold up in court, guaranteed that’s where it’s headed.

Oh really? Why don’t you just run right out and buy a Glock 19 then? That’s right, you can’t. And trust me everyone said the same thing when that was announced. The sad reality is, gun laws/legislation rarely go backwards.

Unfortunately, Joe Max, I think it may. I believe the Supreme Court recently ruled, regarding arms classifications, that states have the right to determine what class of guns can be restricted and also how to classify them.

I think Ms. Healey is testing that ruling. Even if it goes all the way up to the SC, the precedent is there for this to hold up.

In the meantime, Worcesterites will just have to be content with settling for the continuous barrage of face-stabbings that are plaguing the city.

Any idiot knows Obama’s election has sold more guns and ammunition. My guess is gun shops and manufacturers vote D to increase business.

0… ZERO, NIP, NADA, NONE, NOT EVEN ONE… That’s the number of people killed in Massachusetts last year using a rifle.

A few years ago there was the state cop who shot a woman while hunting after dark. But our AG brought no charges.

Article XVII. The people have a right to keep and to bear arms for the common defence. And as, in time of peace, armies are dangerous to liberty, they ought not to be maintained without the consent of the legislature; and the military power shall always be held in an exact subordination to the civil authority, and be governed by it.
