I love it when people say that Turtleboy Sports isn’t making a difference in this city, because it’s so easy to shove it in their face when they’re proven to be wrong. After we wrote this spicy expose on the deplorable condition of Worcester’s roads, everyone and their mother shared it on Facebook (almost 1,000 shares and counting), and the next thing you know Ed Augustus’ office was flooded with phone calls from pissed off taxpayers. This left him with no choice but to BEG for our forgiveness:

Hey Ed – apology NOT ACCEPTED. It shouldn’t take a Turtleboy investigation to get you to do your job. The fact of the matter is that Fast Eddie is once again playing politician instead of playing City Manager. He’s only sending this out because he realized the taxpaying voting public is pissed off. That’s it. He’s pandering to the masses so you vote for his girl Sarai Rivera for Mayor in 2017.

Yet this is the same manager whose DPW Commissioner, Paul Moosey, said that there’s nothing wrong with the streets as is:

“They’re all drivable. They’re a mess with slushy stuff on them. But, for the most part, they are not slippery. The type of sleety stuff we got last night isn’t like freezing rain, like a glare ice kind of thing. We haven’t really seen accidents or issues,” Mr. Moosey said late Tuesday afternoon.

So which is it? Do you “need to do better,” or are the streets drivable already? What I wanna know is, what time will he be announcing that Paul Moosey is laid off? He had ONE FREAKING JOB!!! Plow the roads!! And he said, “fuck it, I’m gonna do nothing instead.” In what parallel universe do you get to keep your job after that with no discipline?

And I don’t wanna hear your bullshit excuses either Eddie. Here’s the thing, it’s not a real apology if you spend most of it coming up with excuses for your incompetence. He’s trying to make it seem like it’s the weather man’s fault and not his. Newsflash – there were no weather reports that said it would suddenly get warm and melt the snow. None. You literally made that up to excuse your own incompetence because you were too busy burning money with your girl Brenda Jenkins.

He also tells some tall tales in there. Hey Eddie, you never salted the main roads on Monday night. You never sanded hilly residential areas. Tell that to the firefighters whose truck crashed on First Street. Does this look like sanding to you?

Because to me it looks like a dump truck took a shit.

Meanwhile, Clover Street, which is every Webster Squarians favorite cut through street to 290, was basically a skating rink. Watch this video:

That stop sign at the bottom of that street is NOTORIOUS for accidents. They never salt or plow that street and cars are always crashing into that poor lady’s fence at the bottom.

Meanwhile, this is how city streets are getting plowed now that they’re all just a thick layer of ice:

Tax dollars at work right there!!

But hey, at least we forced them to do something. Because that’s what the Turtleboy Sports Revolution does – forces people to get their act together out of shame. But once again, the apology is not accepted.

Don’t. Poke. The Turtle. (should we make these t-shirts?)

The CM’s motto: ‘Why do something, when nothing will do?’.

Mr. Manager, you are a liar. There were no sanders. There were no plows. And you know it. And this is BS, not an apology. But you know that too. Your claim that you ‘acted on the best information’ (that is, faulty weather reports) is more than ridiculous. I can tell you personally that all you had to do was GO OUTSIDE (at the very least, look out a window!) to inform yourself that doing nothing was the WRONG decision. Or as a non-essential employee, did you did you just stay home?

I live on the north side of Worcester and my road is snow and ice from the first storm to the last. I expect very little from the DPW.

If you lived in the city you might have got the overwhelming memo that we needed some help…and you did not deliver…

Seriously nothing could be farther from the truth!!!! Wset Boylston St was one lane because of 12 ft of frozen shit in the the middle, southbridge St from downtown to behind Coney island was a shit show tonight because of the same reasons… Every person around knows this it’s absolutely ridiculous to make excuses… Fucking own it and deal with it don’t try to talk your way out of it makes you look worse.. Actually, not once in the letter did he “apologize” or “beg forgiveness”
So cowardly Turtleboy who cant use his own name …. your headline is, ummmm, what’s that word I’m looking for?
    Oh yeah!! A LIE!!!!
As always, you are a lying load of poo. And a cowardly lying load of poo at that.
You spend far more time telling everyone how wonderful you are then doing anything constructive.
You bring nothing to the table except a vulgar mouth.
But hey, keep raking in the dough because apparently that’s what the mindless sheep want — vulgar, pointless, brainless rants.

If this sorry performance is not on the agenda at the next council meeting, then the fix is in. I can tell you that both Grafton St and Hamilton St. had snow rows in the middle of the roadway that was anywhere between 3 and 6 feet wide. Good plowing doesn’t result in that kind on build up, embarrassing to think major roads are left like that. Also in my travels around the city I did not see anyone out clearing the sidewalks bordering city owned property. I pay close attention to this. Last year on Merrifield St from the Belmont Community school to the corner of Elliot St. the sidewalk was NEVER cleared. This is the area of that small city park that honored a young girl murdered there if I’m not mistaken. Point is, the city did nothing , but expect the property owners on the opposite side of the street to clear the sidewalk in front of their buildings. Good idea for everyone that daily drives in the city to put the DPW phone # in their favorite, speed dial and flood the powers with anything that is causing a problem\safety concern.

Once again TB forces City Hall to act.

    • Skeptical
      December 30, 2015 at 4:36 pm

      Yes, he did this singlehandedly…

Being realistic, it was the collective bitching of everyone here in the comments, TB’s articles, and people like my father that don’t even know who TB is calling the city to let them know this sucks.

Not saying TB didn’t help, but TB most certainly did not do this alone. Everyone in the city that voiced their feelings collectively made it happen.

All you have to do is go to any bordering town and you can clearly see the line between Worcester and that town. Auburn looks emaculate, worvester looks like shit!

GREAT JOB, Turtleboy!!!! My husband and I just got back home from a trip to the stores, and as of 2:30 P.M., December 30th, the city streets still suck!!!! What a bunch of bullshit the tax payers of Worcester are being handed. It’s because of TB that, at least, we get a half-assed apology from our fine City Manager Augustus. Now from the blowjob DPW Commissioner Moosey…How long will he be on the job??? I’d fire him on the spot. This city DOES NOT need incompetence like that. Keep up your work Turtleboy..WE NEED YOU !!!!!

Sounds like there is some confusion abut who works for who. Doesn’t the DPW commissioner work for the city manager? Where’s the DPW commissioner’s apology to the taxpayers?

    • Fillet O Fish
      December 31, 2015 at 7:53 am

The city council has a simple choice: they can have the current city manager or the current DPW commisioner, but not BOTH. One has to be let go.

Especially after the DPW called at midnight to remind me that trash pickup is delayed due to New Years. Is everyone on vacation this week?
