Turtleboy Investigates: West Boylston HS Mom’s Viral Facebook Post Is Probably A Huge Lie

We’ve investigated the story about the West Boylston HS student whose mother claims he was suspended for helping out a special needs student who soiled himself, and it turns out she was probably lying.

At Turtleboy Sports we have a general policy of keeping kids out of it. Once you turn 18 and start doing stupid things publicly, then you’re fair game to be criticized. But kids should be left out of it. However, there might not be anything lower than purposely dragging your kid into a public spectacle, especially when you’re lying.

That’s what we have here in a story that has gone viral from West Boylston. A mother named Kristin Rucci shared this message on Facebook:

Screen Shot 2015-09-21 at 10.39.42 PM Screen Shot 2015-09-21 at 10.39.49 PM

That story sounded extremely shady. I mean, I don’t know this kid, but doesn’t he seem a little TOO good to be true? And since when is it the policy of a public high school to have a high school student bring a special needs student into the bathroom and “clean him up” after he urinates in his pants? Isn’t that why we pay taxes? Plus, if this story were in fact true, all the kid would have to do is simply explain to the principal what happened and this all goes away.

As you can see the parent SOUGHT out the media. We did not look for her. Her exact words were, “I have been encouraged to contact the media.” Well, we are the media, and we are here to talk about your story. We are not your cheerleader and we will call this as we see it. Your Facebook post has been shared on Facebook nearly 10,000 times. Thus you have destroyed the reputation of a school, it’s teachers, and administrators, without giving them a chance to explain their side of the story. You better hope it’s true.

This post right here says it all:

Screen Shot 2015-09-21 at 11.38.34 PM

You should go to the media. Not Turtleboy though.” You know why she said that? Because she knows the “media” won’t get the real story. Turtleboy on the other hand is addicted to the truth. We’ll see right through the bullshit and call you out on it. Stay away if you have something to hide. Far, far away.

So we checked out some of the comments under her post and this one stood out:

Screen Shot 2015-09-19 at 12.56.02 PM

Hmmmm, “no stranger to frivolous suspensions.” First of all, if you’re blaming the school for your kid’s suspensions (multiple) then you’re a HUGE part of everything that is wrong with society today. Nothing is EVER anyone’s fault anymore. It’s always “The Man’s” fault. Accountability for your actions? Fuck that. I’m getting a lawyer and blaming everyone else instead.

More importantly though, if your kid has a habit of getting suspended from school, it’s probably more than just an unfortunate set of misunderstandings. And since MOM asked for the media to investigate, we did exactly that. And the first and most obvious place to investigate are Facebook and Twitter – two of the most heavily trafficked websites in the world:

Screen Shot 2015-09-21 at 10.44.39 PM Screen Shot 2015-09-21 at 10.45.42 PM Screen Shot 2015-09-21 at 10.49.37 PM Screen Shot 2015-09-21 at 11.02.20 PM

Hey Mom, you might wanna take a look at this. It’s open to the public. What’s most disgusting about this is that the kid is sitting back and bragging about the fact that she’s made him a viral sensation on Facebook. Guess what’s gonna happen if Turtleboy Jr. ever gets suspended? No social media. Ever. Digging holes in the backyard. Then I’m gonna stand there and make him fill the hole back in for absolutely no reason. Getting suspended is supposed to SUCK. But instead he’s sitting at home on his iPhone bragging about his bulldog mother who’s using him as a prop in her crusade against a high school.

Notice that it’s never his fault either. Gee, I wonder where he gets that from? Lots of honors students get removed from school by the police. I’m sure that was another incident where the cops were called because he was helping a special needs kid who had an accident.

This is also a good thing:

Screen Shot 2015-09-21 at 10.46.35 PM

Yup, no enabling going on here.

Then you have brilliant posts like this:

Screen Shot 2015-09-21 at 11.09.06 PM

Hey genius, Super Mom ASKED for us to post about her child. The last thing that would ever be on our docket was West Boylston High School. But she put the call out for the media, and here we are. She obviously thought we were dumb enough to take what she said at face value, so she thought we’d join her digital lynch mob. But instead we found out the truth and now this makes us a “digital predator.” MOST DEFINITELY!!!

So basically what they wanted the “media” to do is investigate and write about this story, as long as we took a biased slant that took a second hand story from a kid with a history of suspensions at his word. Sorry, we’re too committed to the truth at Turtleboy. If you want something like that call up the Boston Globe. They’re glamorizing Bella Bond’s sperm donor right now, but maybe they can put you on their list.

We wanted to get some first hand accounts of what happened. We were unable to get a comment from the principals obviously, but we did hear from someone who works in the building. This is what they said:

Her son, Jake, took these two mentally disabled students into a locker room, forced them to fight, and then recorded it. This boy has been in school for two full days this year, yet we have had twelve days of school. He is a constant problem. Mom knows the facts, yet she is parading like her son is the victim. Absolutely ridiculous.

I’m not saying this is true, but this person, unlike Mom, is unbiased, and aspects of her story are consistent and present another side to the story. For instance she claims that the kid has been suspended for 10 of the 12 school days this year. This is confirmed by the the multiple tweets since school started complaining about being suspended.

Look, this is a shitty situation all around. But when you go after and bad mouth an entire school where innocent, hard working people are trying to do their job every day, you better be damn sure that you’re in the right. But clearly there is way more to this story. But it didn’t stop the online mob from coming out with their digital pitchforks:

Screen Shot 2015-09-21 at 11.46.38 PM Screen Shot 2015-09-21 at 11.48.37 PM Screen Shot 2015-09-21 at 11.37.09 PM Screen Shot 2015-09-21 at 11.46.07 PM Screen Shot 2015-09-21 at 11.45.46 PM Screen Shot 2015-09-21 at 11.45.54 PM Screen Shot 2015-09-21 at 11.48.14 PM Screen Shot 2015-09-21 at 11.22.55 PM

“We saw something on the Internet so it must be true.” Buffalo Bruises is now hiring!!

This is the garbage that pissed Turtleboy off. There’s nothing worse than overbearing parents who think they know it all. And this type of shit doesn’t happen in Worcester either, where parents are either supportive of the teachers, or just don’t give a shit. But this whole, “I’m gonna get a lawyer and raise hell if my kid ever gets in trouble” is a suburban phenomenon. Nothing is ever junior’s fault in the burbs.

This woman has severely damaged the reputation of a school that apparently did nothing wrong except to suspend a student who broke a lot of really good rules. This is why Turtleboy exists though. To find and uncover the truth. Have something to hide? Don’t put out a Facebook message asking for the media to investigate, because that’s exactly what we’re going to do.

I was a student at that school for 3 years. I used to know Jake, I wasn’t particularly friends with him, but I was acquainted with him fairly well. Jake isn’t a star kid by any means, but he does usually help out people when he can. However, Jake’s demeanor isn’t why I believe the story. The reason I believe the story is because I know the Principal and Vice Principal very well- and they are two of the most awful people I have ever met in my life. They are the type of people who ruin the experience of education, make you terrified to go to school, and get enjoyment out of punishing children. They made my life so miserable that I had to change schools because I was on the verge of truly breaking down.

I don’t know if I believe Jake or his mothers story, but I know that you can’t trust a single word that the administration at that school says.

To turtleboy: I’m willing to talk about the experiences I had there if you are interested, I left my legitimate email.

Did you not catch the memo about an entire new administration??? If you went to WB for 3 years, however many years ago, you didn’t interact with these people…. Plus the sheer fact that the story does not add up at all… wake up and smell the coffee.

    • Nope, no thanks

It sounds like you attended during the Larry Murphy era. So did my child, unfortunately. Why they pulled him out of retirement to be the principal is a mystery. He was the worst school administrator I’ve ever encountered. And he won some bogus “Principal of the Year” award from a bunch of other loser principals and then acted like it was some great honor. I’m sorry you had such a hard time while you were there. High school should be one of the best times of your life and it’s too bad that Murphy ruined it for so many kids. My best to you in the future. You’ll see that high school really doesn’t matter in the long run.

If it turns out Rucci is lying, people should boycott her Elizabeth Grady Day Spa in Millbury. She should be held accountable for dragging our town through the mud because she is unwilling to take responsibility for her child.

You’re nuts. Its not the job of the tax payers to discipline this clown, because Mama Rucci isn’t able to. It sounds to me like the school is doing their part by suspending this kid, a little consistency at home would help. Not working? Ok expel him, its Mama Rucci’s problem to find and fund alternative education now! This is not about this kid not being educated at school, its about him not being disciplined at home. It’s Plain as day when mommy wants the school admin hung out to dry for putting the hammer down. What about the education of those special needs kids, and every other kid in that school who actually give a shit about learning!

      September 22, 2015 at 1:22 pm

Sorry, but I didn’t write the rules or laws. The department of education and politicians are the ones that write these laws. THEY are the ones that are nuts. Those who complain about these laws being “fair” — I suggest YOU write your local representative and express your concerns and perhaps tell THEM they are nuts.

According to the laws, it is the responsibility of the state and taxpayers to educate children. If a student is not learning in their educational setting, then the administration must find an alternative learning environment at the taxpayers expense (mostly their town taxpayers). READ THE LAWS. And just to repeat — I didn’t write those laws.

That does not include behavioral issues and discipline matters. The educators and curriculum are not being called into question. ..it’s the future inmate! That is when the financial responsibility falls to the deadbeat who’s too busy being a drama seeker, to be a disciplinarian!

I still would like to know the actual wording/reason on their designated form for the suspension in accordance to the WeBo High School Handbook.

Sounds like WBHS should send him to a different school (all at the taxpayers expense) if they cannot handle him on a day-to-day basis. A different school and transportation are not cheap, either. Guess it would be worth it for the taxpayers since they are not educating this student in any way.

Let’s just say that everything the mother posted was true – and that’s a bit concession. Even then, why is it considered okay for a student to privately “clean up” a special needs student? The school cannot and should not allow that – it’s an abuse situation waiting to happen! I’m all for good deeds but come on- this story is dodgy as hell.

I’ve tried to stay far away from this comment box as much as possible, but I just can’t anymore. I’ve had Jake Rucci when he was younger at the elementary school and all we had were problems with him every single week! There is sooooo much more to this story and everyone who lives in this town knows it. Jake has been a horrible influence on many including my own family in the past.

THE ONE THING EVERYONE IS FORGETTING ABOUT IS WBHS HAS A BRAND NEW ADMINISTRATION!!!!

Uhm hello…. I had my problems with Larry Murphy, don’t get me wrong he was a dick, but the administration is brand new, and they’ve never dealt with Jake Rucci before. Obviously if he’s having issues with old administration AND NEW, there’s clearly a fucking problem.

Sorry Kristi, but I know you as well. You look like a crack head and act like one too. Clearly you sucked as a parent to BOTH of your children and now you’re trying to cover your tracks. Why don’t you actually try disciplining your child correctly for once and this shit wouldn’t happen.

I mean cmon she’s just as much of a bully as her son is. She ripped, I repeat RIPPED a jersey from another boys hands during pop warner football season because her son wanted that number instead. Fucking pathetic.

Well, I do agree with you about Larry Murphy. I don’t know anything about the new administration. But my kid left that school with a very bad taste in her mouth – and she was a straight-A student and very well-behaved.

When I first saw this post my first thoughts were, why would a mom ever post something like this? Like grow up and get off social media. You are only hurting your son worse. If you were smart at all you would realize that this story is not all true. Why would a school suspend a student for helping a disabled student out? Expecially the new administration that they now have? Those guys are saints. I am honestly sad for your son and everything that he has to go through now. Think before you act. That poor administration has probably lost so much sleep over your sons lies. Karma always wins.

I’m going to say before I make any comment this all opinion and not fact. I have known Jake Rucci for many years from school and from outside of school. When I first saw the post about his “wrongful persecution”, it raised my eyebrow a little bit. Had he gone the straight and narrow? Last time I remember, he was still causing trouble like always. Now I’ll be one of many to say the West Boylston School Administration is by no means perfect. Compared to the high school I transferred to, they have a lot of improving to do if they want to even begin to become a decent school. But I would not put suspending a kid for a good deed past the WB school system. But when it comes to someone such as the student in question that leads me to believe there is quite a bit more to the story, than is being told. My honest opinion, is that he manufactured this story and his poor mother took that story at face value, ran with it, and make a media mockery out of herself in the proccess. Turtle boy has got it figured out this is nothing more than Jake Rucci up to his usual dirty work. If anything they should expel him because he has given too much trouble to the WB system as is.
