Dayton, Ohio — The University of Dayton President Daniel Curran was carried down the street as more than 1,000 euphoric fans celebrated their school’s surprise victory over the powerhouse Syracuse University basketball team.

“Dr. Dan! Dr. Dan! Dr. Dan!,” they chanted, letting out whoops and shouts.

Dayton students rushed to their president and lifted him onto their shoulders, the Dayton Daily News reported.

Some students set fire to couches and shut down traffic. Nearly a dozen police agencies, including riot police, were called to Kiefaber and Lowes streets in Dayton.

At least eight people were arrested in the melee and taken to jail, said WDTN 2 News. The crowd was dispersed by around 1 a.m. There were no reports of major injuries.

Memo to Amherst Police and UMass administration: this is how you handle a “riot.” You don’t need to pepper spray every drunken nudnik in the face. You don’t need to beat the hell out of a bunch of 19 year olds with backpacks. And you don’t need to kick a bunch of kids celebrating their youth out of college. Sometimes these things work themselves out.

The pictures I am about to show you are from the University of Dayton’s OFFICIAL Facebook page. The school is purposely promoting these images, without worrying about how moronic people who hate college students will react towards them….

I’m so confused. “Why are these ^^^ cops just standing there and not kicking the shit out of everyone? Don’t they realize their lives are in immediate danger?” – Amherst Police Chief.

And you read that correctly above. The president of the university was not only AT the riot, he was the star of the show – urging kids on with the megaphone…

So let me get this straight – the President of the University was at the “riot,” the crowd wasn’t dispersed with force, and no one got hurt? Please take notes UMass administrators and town of Amherst. None dead in Ohio.

This is just awesome in so many ways. First Dayton beat two of the more unlikeable teams in college athletics. THE Ohio State, and Syracuse. I hate Syracuse with a passion. There are two types of Cuse fans: 1) Wannabe ghetto fabulous white kids who like to say “Cuse bro”, and 2) Nerdy kids that went there to try to get into sports broadcasting. They’re all the worst people on earth.

Dayton is officially America’s team. The Atlantic Ten has a team in the Sweet Sixteen for the second consecutive year, and just like last year it is one of the last bubble teams in (LaSalle in 2013). And all this after Coach K literally took a steamy dump on their face going into selection Sunday. When he laughed at the A-10 getting six teams in, he was directing it specifically towards this team. He said they couldn’t go through the “meat grinder” that is the ACC. Well, Syracuse is in the ACC. So is NC State, who also lost to an Atlantic Ten team (St. Louis). The moral of the story is, you’re drunk Coach K. Go home.

In related news the town of Amherst released their “costs” of policing the Blarney Blowout at UMass two weeks ago:

The cost of a pre-St. Patrick’s Day celebration that spun out of control at the University of Massachusetts’ flagship campus in Amherst will likely total more than $200,000 for public safety, consultant fees and property damage.

The Daily Hampshire Gazette reports that other costs for hospital emergency care and public officials’ time, resources and supplies and private property damage related to the March 8-9 “Blarney Blowout” could push the amount far higher.

Police arrested 65 people and 141 were charged. Among those arrested were approximately 20 UMass students.

Police say most of the others were students from colleges and universities from around New England and the Mid-Atlantic region.

A review by former Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis will cost up to $160,000.

Overtime and pepper spray cost taxpayers $23,000.

Gotta love the spin they’re trying to put on this one. They want you to blame the students. They want the taxpayers to be infuriated. So they ran up some ridiculous bill, knowing that you’d all take the bait. No one is questioning the “consultant fee,” whatever the hell that is. No one is questioning the Miss Nancy Boy police officers who somehow needed “hospital emergency care” despite facing unarmed 19 year olds while in full body armor. Look, we’ve all seen the videos from the Blarney Blowout. The police were the aggressors. They violently attacked and arrested kids, when they clearly had other options. A couple of them got boo-boos in the mix. So what does the police department do? Send them to the hospital so they can run up the bill that someone else will be paying. Makes sense.

Newsflash: the police officers not only were the aggressors, they signed up to be police officers in Amherst.  How bout they stop being such naniburgers, put some tussin on their boo-boos, and go back to work?

I love how they’re trying to bill the taxpayers for using “public officials time and resources.” Hey idiots, this is what our tax dollars pay you to do. The public is supposed to use public officials time and resources. That’s why we pay taxes. If we didnt need your help then you wouldn’t have a job. The city of Worcester just released their list of highest employees. There were 200 cops that made more than the highest paid teacher. That tells you everything you need to know about what our society values.

And $23,000 for pepper spray? Yea, because clearly the police HAD to use pepper spray. Are they going to charge the taxpayers every time one of these guys takes a dump now too? Toilet paper fee? Give me a break.

It’s really the public’s fault for falling for this shit. The police throw these numbers out there, and then instead of people questioning their validity, they blame the easiest targets they can find – college students. You over privileged, learned, hippies. Here were some of my favorite comments on Channel 5’s Facebook page:

Or just demand that no one pay this obviously inflated bill? Nah screw that, just make those rich dooshnozzle’s parents pay for everything. Then there’s this winner:

Debbie knows where here kids are at all times. I love these people too…

Here we are arguing about public safety and our tax dollars, and NO ONE is even paying attention to the grammar!!! Luckily for humanity Marilyn Callan is here to keep us all aware of our spelling and grammar deficiencies. Junior smokeshow Hannah Gordon would be proud. Some of these taxpayers are really outraged, but they’re just kind of lazy…

I mean, Trevor could click on the link they provided and just find out how much it cost, but that’s an unreasonable amount of work. But the grand champion of the comments section was without a doubt Tom McGrory:

Now we’re getting somewhere. Why go through the long drown out ordeal of figuring out who owes what, when you can just kill everyone. That’ll teach the parents!!! The police in Amherst clearly don’t have enough power. You let them start killing kids, and then billing the parents for the clean up costs, then they’ll start putting the fear of God into their precious little babies.

Tom Mcgrory was joking it seems. Please refer to erin bussey’s comment underneath the Marilyn Caron. Just hate to see sarcasm being mistaken for truth. Although it is the internet so the mistake is acceptable. Once again nice post turtleboy. keep it up/
