Hey fam – if you’d like to support Turtleboy and what we do here, feel free to hit the donate button at the top. We basically have to run this site like a Bernie Sanders campaign now since we’ve been blacklisted by Google and Facebook, due to the fact that rabid SJWs keep reporting our posts. Getting blacklisted by Google is a death sentence for most websites, since it’s much harder to monetize. And we all know the damage Facebook has done. We’re never going to stop fighting for free speech, but in the meantime the best way for turtle riders to fight back is to donate to the cause. Without you people none of this is possible. We love you all.

I’ll start this out with a very clear disclaimer: I am a woman, and by comparison to a lot of our readers, a liberal. Now, I’ve never put on a pink vagina hat and marched down the street screaming insane obscenities at any man who passes, nor do I feel that any harm should come to the President of the United States – what I feel is not an out of control burning hatred, but a slow burning resentment – towards modern day “liberals”, because I view them as accountable for the oft irrational POTUS we now have. So let’s be clear. Burn me at the stake, if you like, refuse to read anything I write ever again, I don’t fucking care. I believe in free speech, objective data, and logic. If you don’t, I consider you part of the problem – go read a book, or take a long walk off a short pier.

As liberal as I may feel I am, this shit right here fucking pisses me off.  As a woman, as a proponent of human rights and impartial justice, as a believer of objective fact, Jesus H. Christ does this get my fucking goat:

If justice is blind, then why do we seem to give the weight of credibility to one woman, with an unsubstantiated claim? And I know, that just by uttering the word “unsubstantiated” in relation to Dr. Ford, makes me some sort of detractor. An enemy of the modern day feminist. Well, fuck you, because I AM a feminist. I am a career woman, I am a writer with her own distinct voice, and my husband does the goddamn laundry, thank you very much. I’m also reasonable, and logical. And objectively, Dr. Ford’s accusations are just that – unsubstantiated.

There certainly is a respectable and simple way to oppose Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination. A Democratic senator can just say he or she does not agree with Brett Kavanaugh’s judicial philosophy, and vote against him. Nothing legally requires a senator must vote for a qualified nominee. Certainly, under all the character aimed squarely at this man, is the progressive fear that he will be instrumental in overturning Roe v. Wade, or will use the Supreme Court seat to further bolster President Trump’s executive power, or shield him from prosecution. I’m not one to say whether this fear is founded – when going through Judge Kavanaugh’s 270+ written opinions from his tenure on the Circuit Court, the man does appear to be fair and balanced, albeit possessing his own personally opinions. As he should – we are all human beings, entitled to our own perspective. His perspective appears to minimally impact his work. His tenure paints him as faithful to the Constitution, and to the Law. As a Supreme Court Nominee should be.

Outside of his judicial philosophy, there is also a correct and honorable way to gauge Judge Kavanaugh’s fitness for the bench. Supreme Court or otherwise, any judge should possess an enduring commitment to integrity and fairness. So ok, yes, scrutinize his record. If a serious character flaw becomes apparent, expose it. Fine.

He may have been a lush of a teenager, it’s plausible. So was I. That in and of itself is not a grievous personal flaw. It is a chapter in one’s life. Maybe he wasn’t. Hell, maybe he still is a drunken bag of mess behind closed doors, or maybe he isn’t. You don’t have to be a perfect person to be good at your job. You don’t have to be a perfect person to advance in your career. I’ve had plenty of bosses who were completely flawed human beings, ranging to complete assholes, really. Yet they were competent, even in some cases exemplary, in the workplace. Despite the fact they were unlikable. The only thing that has been even vaguely substantiated about Brett Kavanaugh, is that his demeanor can be to some, quite unlikable. This alone neither detracts from his legal competency, nor does it make a rapist.

But the Democrats have chosen an incredibly immoral avenue to oppose Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination, and as a former Democrat, and a current progressive thinker, the actions of the party truly devastate me. When I was emerging into adulthood, and living a fairly burdened and disenfranchised life myself, I looked to the Left as a moral beacon. A party that believed in social equality, morals above political trickery, universal entitlements to better the standard of living for all US Citizens.

Welp, looks like that was all a lie. Because here we stand, a man on trial in the court of Public Opinion, on increasingly pliable charges, with a dearth of of evidence and no corroborating witnesses to be found. This is a farce, a mockery of our legal and political system, and not only an attack on one man, but an attack on our democracy. To quote Niccolo Machiavelli: “Politics have no relation to morals”. Whilst I myself am not so inclined to agree, this certainly seems to be the motto of the DNC today. They’ve swung at this man with every low blow they can muster. There were the perjury allegations, which David Lat, editor at large and founder of Above the Law, took to twitter and this wonderful article to dismantle.

This guy is the shit, really.

Then, of course, came the sexual misconduct allegations. In today’s paranoid and negatively polarized climate, you are not permitted to question the accuser. We are not supposed to question Dr. Ford’s flimsy and shifting narrative – for this would be a re-victimization. Not only the re-victimization of Dr. Ford, but any sexual assault victim – past, present or future – to ever come forward. Claiming sexual assault becomes both a fucking grenade launcher of a political weapon, as well as nearly impenetrable armor. Sure, there is no evidence, circumstantial or otherwise, to indict this man. No witnesses, nothing outside of one woman’s tearful, hazy recounting of an incident over 30 years ago. We are supposed to look at this face:

Then look at this face:

And suddenly we’ve all been appointed as Judge in the Court of Media Circuses. No. And if you side with objective fact over the crying broad, you are suddenly an enemy of all women, working to strengthen the toxic patriarchy and abolish women’s rights. Fuck you, no. Where do you think we live, Syria? I don’t know about you, but I put on a pair of pants this morning, jumped in my car, and drove to work. All by myself. I’d be lying if I said there I didn’t see margins of gender inequality present in this country, but by comparison, they’re negligible. Certainly nothing that justifies forgoing due process in favor of a despicable smear campaign.

Frankly, I don’t give a flying poo about Judge Kavanaugh’s jurisprudence at this point. Do his views differ from my own political ideology? Yes, sometimes. He is a staunch defender of the textual originality of the Constitution, whereas “liberals” such as myself prefer a more “living document” interpretation. Either side is flawed based on your perception. And either side deserves a seat, based on merit, on the Supreme Court. Brett Kavanaugh does possess such merit based on his career.

But we are no longer as a country looking to merit to fill leadership positions. We go by knee jerk, emotional and contrived reactions. This is setting a dangerous precedent, my friends. For the Left, it’s all fine and dandy when a conservative, pro-gun, abortion-ambiguous Supreme Court Nominee is in the hotseat.

But I’d ask you – what about when it’s one of your candidates, one of your nominees? We’re on the precipice of setting a precedent where we do not appoint based on performance and merit, but instead through an insane deathmatch of character assassination. No one is immune. This is a spectacle stripped of all morals and Constitutional due process – where is innocent until proven guilty?

Defending this man’s right to his innocence until (unless) he is proven through actual evidence to be otherwise, is not an attack on women. Smearing his character to further a clear and present political agenda, is an attack on women.

This is sickening to me twofold – despite what the outcome will be, the public will not forget. This man will forever bear this scarlet letter, and to the adverse, so will every sexual assault survivor to come forward from this point on. We will have to ask, is she telling the truth, or is there an ulterior motive? And perhaps we should – or more accurately, the courts should. The public should not. We are not qualified. But here we are, in a climate that discards qualification for emotions and the cult of personality.

This man was essentially condemned by the Left from the jump. Nobody can argue that. He was nominated by President Trump, and therefore a target from the onset. That’s insane. I’m sure our readers will burn me at the stake for this – but I’m not a fan of the current POTUS. Sorry, not sorry. I’m entitled to my opinion. Anyone who wants to strip that from me, can eat a giant bag of flaccid penises for all I care. That is the mark of fringe politics, on either side, let’s be real. Whether you’re far left, or far right, you want to discard objective fact and silence dissidents. You are the problem, highlighted right here. Find some logic, common sense and reason – seriously. Fuck you.

I don’t find President Trump to be the downfall of the nation, or the AntiChrist incarnate, but I do find him to be a subpar leader. I do refer to him as President, and I don’t wish for his destruction. He is the elected Commander in Chief, and, in my opinion, the exact reflection to the state of our society. He is loud and crass and emotional. He is the leader that a nation of irrational, divisive citizens who would support the destruction of a man’s character in favor of furthering an agenda, elected.

If you are a liberal, crying and screaming in the fringes of the Left – YOU PUT HIM IN OFFICE. He is the result of years of ridiculous fights over the rights to public restrooms, to pronouns and government entitlements. The general population got tired of legitimate issues that affected their actual, daily lives and they went for the more populist option, because the DNC effectively fucked us out of Bernie Sanders.

His appointees are the result of your failure to focus on any real issue that affects the majority, because you have been so myopically focused on the minority. Any issue you take with his policy or procedure – and there are some issues to be had, don’t be stupid – is the fault of the “progressives” who chose to nitpick over which lives matter and what pronouns we should be using instead of platforming actual progress.

And on the Far Right, I see nothing but people who will so staunchly defend their base, that they refuse to acknowledge any objective proof of misstep, failure or folly. Further driving in the caustic wedges of division, pointing fingers, stalling any viable change with inane arguing. That’s terrifying, too. We’re not judging anything on solid ground. It’s all divisive and emotional, and right now the Democrats have taken center stage with this contrived, insidious bullshit. This amoral, Machiavellian, “means justify the ends” modus operandi does no one any favors. Trump has eight years max, and love it or hate it, our actions during his term WILL resound. Condemning this man sets a standard that should be terrifying to all of us.

I don’t often veer from Turtleboy’s stated opinion, but I do a bit here. I look at this woman,

And I don’t see someone in it for money, or fame, or book deals – although that invariably will come. I see a woman infected with the martyrdom of the Left. I see a woman who, in my opinion, is dubiously recounting her experiences; I suspect instead she is either reciting a completely contrived fabrication, or perhaps a former client’s experience, told with conviction because she truly believes she is saving this nation from an anti-woman’s rights monster.

I would counter the “she must have gone through something”… point with this – she is a goddamn freaking trauma expert. Of course she can explain any holes away, of course she can give a convincing account that lines up with the science of trauma. She wasn’t chosen by mistake, I don’t believe. I do believe her actions rise above selfish and superficial too.  Because she was told she is, and that’s what the majority of people are doing these days – what they are told. I believe Dr. Ford’s motivations are deeper and more deluded than we are giving them credit for – and I believe that is what makes this so dangerous.

This whole shitshow, to me, highlights what is wrong with this country today. We are a nation divided, driven by fiery emotion and deep-seated misinformation. I can’t stress it enough, on both sides. Which is why, honestly, we need folks like Kavanaugh, and we need Elena Kagan, because everyone is picking sides here, and there needs to be a goddamn balance. Most importantly, though, we need to stand up and set a precedent that you cannot convict someone in the Court of Public Opinion, or otherwise, because of one person’s word. That is absurd. What the Left needs to realize, is that somewhere a moral compass still exists, although it may be faint and gasping for life, it should be a brightly lit beacon to which we strive to follow. And no matter how much we attempt to create a Straw Man, to use prominent White, heterosexual, prominent men as effigy to be damaged or destroyed as some sort of penance for past misdeeds, it’s not going to undo shit. What happened in the past is done, over, and marked down. Fuck you for taking the “progress” out of “progressive”. I’m disgusted to be living in a culture that would rather rehash the past than move into the future. And mark my words, if Kavanaugh is not voted in based on his qualification and merits, and condemned and destroyed based on mere hearsay, we are all fucking doomed.

As a woman, I daily want to point to the “war on men” fem nazis and scream, “This so caled woman does NOT represent me!” Seriously, they do more harm to women’s rights than any man ever has! As the mother of sons, they terrify me! There is a word for these people. It’s called misandry! The opposite of mysongeny. A word you don’t hear enough of, but it is rampant, and its prevalent, and its turning ugly! Men have the right to exist, just as much as women. Thank you for your take on the subject. As a “right leaning” woman, I am sometimes guilty of stereotyping dem women into the “perpetual victim” category. My bad.

Well said! While I don’t agree with some of your political beliefs, I do respect your opinions. All sides do have problems. It is refreshing to read that as a woman and a liberal, you are not caught up in the blind hatred of anything President Trump does, and he does do some stupid things. I did vote for him, mostly because I wanted him to flip the table over, that most of these entrenched, worthless politicians think they are entitled. We need term limits. Thanks for your great column.

Great writing! I am an independent who tends to side more with R candidates on ballots because the D people are such ….well, D’s.
My views aren’t D or R, really. I’m socially moderate, fiscally conservative, and tired of the way this country has been going since I first was old enough to vote.
Who is the voice for the majority of people in MA, people like me? The loonies on both sides get a lot of media play, but the majority of us remain unrepresented by our elected officials.

Once this FBI investigation ends and they don’t find jack shit to report about the Judge, he will obtain about 60 votes and be sworn in. Notice I said 60 instead of 51; yes, there are about 9 or so Democrat Senators in Red states who know if they don’t vote “yes” they’re as good as dead in their next re-election. In fact, I predict a NATIONWIDE backlash against these Democrat shenanigans where they may lose several seats in both the House and Senate this November.

In this piece you admit to being a liberal and a progressive. You cannot be both.

A liberal is someone who believes in inherent human rights, basic equality, and a free market economic system, bound, in some cases, by government regulation to further fair competition. A progressive believes in government-forced social justice and an economic system bound in all cases to promote economic justice—e.g., equality of results.

In “Fortunate Son,” David Horowitz recounts in great detail how American communists became disillusioned and disheartened when Stalin’s crimes were revealed. From this period of introspection they emerged and rebranded themselves as “progressives,” and wrested control of the Democratic Party from actual liberals—JF “pussy hound” Kennedy, New Dealers, etc. These progressives were branded the “New Left.”

Today’s Democratic Party no longer even feels the need to distance themselves from all of this. As even the old New Left is dying out, they’re openly embracing “progressivism” (e.g., communism) and “democratic socialism.”

Otherwise, great rant and I wish you good luck on the path of your political awakening.

I think people often confuse progressive and Progressive, conservative and Conservative, and liberal and Liberal.

Progressive, Conservative, and Liberal are all political or social ideologies and sets of beliefs. Progessive (small “p”), conservative and liberal are all relative to the common beliefs and norms of a society at a given time.

Someone can consider themself a Progressive, but still be conservative (they want to conserve funding for Planned Parenthood or keep Social Security). A Conservative can be liberal (belief in an open, free markets). A Conservative can also be conservative (they want to preserve the 2nd amendment).

I can buy that. Progressive, conservative, and liberal are all adjectives. More to the point, progressive and conservative are relative terms, in that they define an ideology relative to a fixed ideology.

A good deal of what passes as “conservatism” today is really old-fashioned liberalism. Liberals once were the “progressives” of their day, e.g. in relation to monarchists.

I would counter to the author that your “liberal” views are traditional “liberal” views of a bygone era, or, as Howie Carr often puts it: “These democrats are not your parent’s democrats”. They are, in fact, rabid socialist/communists masquerading as democrats. Unfortunately, through a combination of importing a new voter base, and increasing government dependency with handouts, their power base will continue to grow.

What we just had a taste of this past week is the gruel we are all going to be subjected to in years to come. Lindsey Graham was partially right: God help us WHEN (not IF!) you regain power.

OBama wasn’t my choice but he got my respect as POTUS. I pulled for him. Sadly, far too many on both sides make it personal. They can’t seperate politics from friendship. This past election hasn’t proven that as people who have known me my whole life suddenly think of me as a bigot or racist or homophobe. Truly amazing society we live in now. One created by us. History tells us we are in trouble. Deep trouble. Only we can change it. Let’s hope we can before it’s too late.
