Viva la Free Speech and the Myth of White Privilege

There’s been a lot hateful acts and talk recently. Could President Trump’s remarks about Charlottesville been delivered better? You bet. But, in his heat of the moment, off the cuff attempt to speak to all of us, there was truth to what he said. The White Nationalists, ANTIFA and Black Lives Matter groups have all committed violence in order to get their message out. None of those groups are innocent – their hateful rhetoric is responsible for death, injury and destruction of property across this country. Somewhere in the Venn diagram of those 3 groups is where the majority of American’s live. They feel that their country is changing and that their feelings and opinions don’t matter – they no longer have a say in what happens. At the same time, they also know that racism exists but can’t talk about it without being marginalized and accused of ‘white privilege.’

In the protests happening across the country, groups are trying to shout down hate speech but they should really let it be heard. Let the message out, the answer to hate speech isn’t less speech it’s more. Don’t allow these groups – these people – to be pushed back into the shadows – we need to know who they are. We need to make them accountable for what they say and what they believe and to live with the consequences. We need to allow them to speak their truth and then stand up and say that’s not what we believe – that is not America. And we need to do this without violence.

At the same time, let’s remember that just because you don’t agree with what’s being said doesn’t mean it’s hate speech. If your view is so right and your beliefs so strong, why be afraid of other opinions. That’s Fascism.
College campuses across this country have turned into battlegrounds simply because a conservative was invited to speak. We are turning into the people that our fathers and grandfathers fought to defeat.

Today in Boston the ‘bad guys’ – the so-called alt-right Nazi’s held their rally – speakers spoke and then they left without incident. Free speech prevailed. Then, the ‘good guys’ – the counter protesters clashed with police and even some innocent pro-American attendees. These are the people who the media would have you believe speak for you and me – the regular average American. But that’s not who we are – we don’t throw urine filled bottles at the police. We were the ones who let free speech be heard.

By the way the ANTIFA are terrible at their jobs – they’re anti-fascist and in their quest to achieve that they have become fascists. Morons. They are the ultimate agitators – they threw the first punch in Charlottesville – you’re a weak minded lemming if you believe otherwise.

Let me circle back to ‘white privilege’ for a moment? Apparently, every white person has it, so I guess the white members in ANTIFA must be ‘woke’ and using their privilege for good, while the White Nationalists are using it for evil. Got it.

I think the notion of ‘white privilege’ is crap and is, in of itself, racist. Minimizing the thoughts, opinions and beliefs of a people based on skin color is racist. Now, of course come the excuses – now you whites know how it feels to be discriminated against. Right, because the answer to racism is more racism. Genius.
But, if you believe in ‘white privilege’ then you must also acknowledge ‘black privilege’. That’s right – I said it. Black privilege is what it’s called when a person of color says or does something so outrageous or criminal, and is not held accountable because of their color.

You know when white people ‘riot’ and blacks ‘protest’. Or when whites couldn’t say a negative thing about Obama without being called racist, but POC’s can say anything they want about Trump and are lauded for it.

How about the distinguished member of the Missouri State Senate who said this in a Facebook comment that has since been deleted “I hope Trump is assassinated.” Holy Shit! That was said by Democratic State Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal – who is black. She’s being investigated by the Secret Service and her own party is calling for her to resign but she is refusing.

If a white senator had said that about Obama, there would be hearings and emergency sessions for their removal – they’d be gone within hours. This fine legislator is being given until September 15th at which time her fellow senators will vote to have her removed. She’s adamant that she won’t resign, so she’ll be forced out and become a martyr for the cause. By the way, Missouri State Senate is almost entirely white men – the BET movie is practically writing itself.

Remember Kathy Griffin? A world of crap fell on her within hours of that picture of Trumps bloody head and her career still hasn’t recovered. But tell me again about her privilege.
Listen, I think Trump being in office is a convenient excuse for all these groups to come out of the woodwork – and the media is playing right into it. They hate Trump so much that they aren’t even trying to portray both sides fairly or even ask the questions that most American’s would ask.

I think we need to stay true to ourselves, ask the questions that need to be asked and don’t let these groups speak for us.

Next time anyone pulls the “turtleboy isn’t real news” crap, send them this article. It rivals any op ed piece by any “real” journalist at a “real” newspaper.
Went great with my Sunday morning coffee, too. Very refreshing.
    Thanks for the good read!

I agree wholeheartedly. Wish there was a way to send this mainstream.

There’s no way you’ll ever see people like Lady Turtle or me in the Lame-Stream Media anytime soon. Not only do we both have things to say they don’t want you to know, but it’s easy to tell we both reject “identity politics.” That makes us untouchable.

It’d go real well on Breitbart though, which is read by millions. May be something to think about!

    TBS regarding literal white supremacists…

“In the protests happening across the country, groups are trying to shout down hate speech but they should really let it be heard. Let the message out”

“Don’t allow these groups – these people – to be pushed back into the shadows”

“We need to allow them to speak their truth”

“At the same time, let’s remember that just because you don’t agree with what’s being said doesn’t mean it’s hate speech. If your view is so right and your beliefs so strong, why be afraid of other opinions. That’s Fascism.”

“We are turning into the people that our fathers and grandfathers fought to defeat.”

“Today in Boston the ‘bad guys’…”

You know what’s great? Quoting the post as a comment but not adding any real comments because you’re too stupid to have a thought of your own. By the way – there weren’t any white supremacists at the Boston event – get you head out of your ass and stop believing what the MSM tells you.

This is very well thought out, and written. It is logically expressed with clarity, while presenting an expository, easy to follow style, making what happened in Boston easy to understand. Very well done.

I voted for Obama twice. I spent eight years defending him. I voted for Hillary in the general because I saw her as the lesser of two evils.

But even I won’t deny that race relations in this country were in a better place back in 2008 than they are now. Hate groups on both sides were marginalized; instead of canonized (Antifa and BLM) or made to be more powerful than they really are as a means of legitimizing violence from the left.

If I could go back and do it again, if vote for John McCain.

Instead of making history as the first black president in a good way Obama set race relations back 50 years. Instead of actually trying to make the lives better for black people he spent 8 years telling them that they are victims and that the police and white people are to blame. The black community was far better off before that man took office.

Very well said. A rational fair and balanced review. The antifa message is clear and should be marginalized

I would also like to see both antifa and BLM held accountable to us, the REAL community, for their incendiary rhetoric and violent acts. I wish all the “good, peaceful people” who can identify these thugs would stop protecting their “friends”.
