So this GoFundMe was briefly posted on the Discussing Fitchburg Now Facebook page:

Screen Shot 2017-03-05 at 7.32.16 PM

Yes, that’s right. Someone in Winchentucky who evidently has zero shame, posted a GoFundMe asking the general public to pay $5,000 for the down payment on her family’s first home:

Screen Shot 2017-03-05 at 7.29.37 PM Screen Shot 2017-03-05 at 7.29.46 PM

Don’t even know where to start on this one. Let’s begin with the likely scenario that this is a scam for the greatest $5,000 crack giveaway party in the history of Winchendon. If you’re in the position where you felt the need to beg for a down payment to purchase your home, then you’re probably not going to get a mortgage from any lenders. Especially when they Google your name and this comes up. So yea, the odds that any money you’d be donating to them would actually be going towards the down payment for a home are slim to none.

Screen Shot 2015-12-28 at 1.20.12 PM

Secondly, two parents who both presumably work (LOL) would have to be making less than minimum wage to only be approved for $100,000. And only in Winchentucky could you find a plethora of homes in that price range. According to the Zillow calculator the two of them combined would have to be making $36,000 a year ($18K each) in order to get pre-approved for that amount:

Screen Shot 2017-03-05 at 7.45.09 PM

Not only that, but someone in their position would likely qualify for a shitload of FHA programs that would eliminate the need for a down payment of that size.

Oh, and here’s a question that’s kind of important – how are you going to do the necessary upkeep for the house if you have to beg strangers for the $5,000 down payment? What happens when you buy the home and it needs a new roof in a couple years? You gonna start a $10,000 roof GoFundMe? What happens when the boiler goes to shit? You got $7,500 buried in your favorite Winchentucky rape van?

This just goes back to this bullshit that’s been peddled by politicians and the Worcester Housing Authority that everyone someone has a right to own a home. You don’t. Rights don’t cost money. Rights are free. Houses cost money. If you cannot afford to buy a house then you rent one. Welcome to grownup world.

The post lasted about 16 minutes before an admin took it down, but the commentary was exactly what you expected it would be when a Winchentucky gutterslug Internet panhandles for a new home on Facebook:

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. Personally, I don’t trust anyone who feels the need to upload a new selfie as their profile picture every other week.

Ya know what the saddest part about this is? The fact that she feels no shame in doing this. She posted this and thought it was perfectly normal. This is the society we’ve created by worrying about people’s feelings.  No one has any shame or humility any more because we are required to care about your feelings. We need to bring back shame and humiliation. The fear of being shamed and humiliated used to keep people honest. Even during the Great Depression there were guys holding signs like this:

84b5f4b052f852bb581385d7011a4853

They even teach it on Power Points in high school:

slide_6

Asking for charity was something to be ashamed of. As it should be. There was a time when someone who needed $5,000 would just work a few more hours, or find a second job, or cancel cable and put the thermostat on 62. But that would require personal responsibility. We got rid of that shit a long, long time ago. Instead we’ve raised a generation of Karyssa Grennon’s who couldn’t possibly imagine a world in which they wouldn’t have HBO. Why should they give that up? They should be able to have that AND own a home. Because….it’s no fair!!

These people have no idea how ridiculous they look when they post stuff like this. Because as she pointed out, you are “judging” her if you point out  how shameless it is to Internet panhandle for your first home:

Screen Shot 2017-03-05 at 7.31.37 PM

Well, Turtleboy doesn’t follow those rules. We’re bringing shame and humiliation back. You might not like it at first, but at the end of the day you’ll be a better person for it. Because clearly Karyssa was planning on getting through life by begging her way out of financial troubles that she could fix herself. Now she knows that she doesn’t have to rely on the charity of others for her own self-determination.

P.S. The Discussing Fitchburg Now Facebook page is ratchet/blog material central right now, and the miracle is that none of it involves he who shall not be named.

What’s interesting is that this very blog itself, and the reposts and shares that it gets, will probably help her hit enough people that the 1% or so that actually will donate to ANYTHING will give her the $5000 she’s asking for. So, ironically, the “public shame” you’re bringing her by exposing her to 1000’s of people willing to “flex their collective internet muscles” and reply will also expose her to the 100’s of people willing to “give a couple bucks to help something that looks believable”, which is what’s needed to get her exactly what she wants.

got even a shred of proof there? she was online and defending her use of gofundme. pretty sure a hacker wouldn’t bother to do that.

Really? So the hacker hacked in and was responding to the onslaught about the “judgement” being doled out? Interesting.

And this face right here folks is why you don’t get a nose piercing. Because when you decide it’s no longer cool to go around sporting one of those stupid things, it’s going to leave a nice indented scar where you had it and everyone will know that you’re a former circus freak.

I have worked with Karyssa for the past few years. She is ambitious, and hardworking. She is certainly making above minimum wage in a respectable position. She is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree without benefit of financial aid and this alone is costing her a bundle. Chances are the amount she was approved us was based on her income alone. I find it deeply offensive that you are making assumptions about one of the most responsible and compassionate young ladies that I know.

Blah blah blah she’s going for her Masters. All she needs to master is a stripper pole and how to give a blowjob and she’ll have the money for her down payment before she knows it.

Plus the exercise will do her some good!

I don’t see what the big deal is. I borrowed money from my family for closing costs. I didn’t have a down payment at all, so I got hit with PMI. We refinanced, got a lower rate, and now only have a few years left until it is paid off! It makes more sense to buy, instead of throw money away on rent.

    • Yalie
      March 6, 2017 at 9:16 am

Sounds good in theory. Take a look how much of a mortgage payment goes to principle. Most is interest and city taxes. Great benefit for everyone but the “homeowner”. I own. Only choice you have unless you pay cash for the place. I pay $500+ for interest, 500+ for taxes and 200+ on principle currently. Sweet deal for me.

      March 6, 2017 at 10:40 am

Clearly you know NOTHING about money.

Lol almost paid off? Yet you had to borrow from everyone.

You must live in a trailer or in Alabama. Same. Same.

      Lmfao. “Almost paid off.

      • Rosie Bottom
        March 10, 2017 at 1:36 pm

No, I have 5 years left on a 120k mortgage, for a four bedroom house on 2 acres which I purchased in 2000. I paid my family back within 6 months, and we refinanced to a lower interest rate in one year, which got rid of our PMI, and although it raised our mortgage payments a few hundred dollars, it cut our 30 mortgage down to under half of that. I know enough about money that I still have my home, we’re always on time with our payments, and our credit score is in the high 700’s. I didn’t borrow from everyone, I borrowed from My sister, for closing costs. You are obviously an immature idiot. Douchebag!

There is so much more to this twisted background this couple has. I’m disappointed seeing that they became this desperate and feel bad for the child stuck in the middle . Maybe I should have begged for donations to buy my home, but I take pride in the hard work we put in to run my home with honest earned money .

there is no right to own a home, or more accurately live in a house with a mortgage since few under age 50 are actually doing anything to me mortgage free. and TB is right. One should be ashamed at asking from handouts from family, friends and especially strangers.

Sooo what’d she do with the $4K to $7K (average) EIC credit she got back in taxes for being low income and having a kid? Fkn Leeches.

    • Debbie Gravel
      March 6, 2017 at 8:33 am

I hardly think she is low income and i know she spent a lot of money on her college classes this semester as she is not getting financial aid to pursue her Master’s Degree. Maybe people here should not be making assumptions about someone they do not even know. This is a very hardworking, dedicated, compassionate, responsible young lady.

          March 6, 2017 at 1:08 pm

She is NOT in need of any money. She has her down payment and the GOFUNDME page was a FAKE not put up by her at all. She posted recently that she was house hunting and someone else put that page up without her permission. As soon as she became aware of it, it was taken down.

          • Talisman
            March 6, 2017 at 2:41 pm

So it wasn’t her responding back to all the judgemental people ripping her for a gofund page that was a fake? If the page was fake, why didn’t she say that….Oh that’s right, it was the hacker that created the fake gofund page that was also logged into her Facebook account defending the fake gofund account in a last ditch effort to grab some cash while Karyssa was working on her Master’s Thesis….got it

The “right” to own a home and the genius of giving people with no responsibility and shit credit loans for six figures that were guaranteed by the government, which they proceeded to default on for reasons started in this article, caused the.economic crash that got Barry elected. Because, of course, the crash was all Bush and the Republicans’ fault. Even though Barney and company masterminded the scheme and the press looked the other way. The people with shit credit still had shit credit, the banks got bailed out with our money and nobody went to jail. Democrats are the best…
