Everyone knows Worcester’s roads are a gigantic nightmare right now. Cars are sliding around everywhere, the snow has turned into ice, and the main arteries are a standstill during peak traffic hours.  But don’t worry, because you’re all just imagining these things. Everything is fine according to Department of Public Works Commissioner Paul J. Moosey:

In Worcester, Mr. Moosey said city streets in the wake of Tuesday’s wintery mix looked worse than they really were.

“They’re all drivable. They’re a mess with slushy stuff on them. But, for the most part, they are not slippery. The type of sleety stuff we got last night isn’t like freezing rain, like a glare ice kind of thing. We haven’t really seen accidents or issues,” Mr. Moosey said late Tuesday afternoon.

Translation – you’re all on drugs.

Right now it’s 26 degrees outside. Now I’m not a scientist, but I’m pretty sure slush doesn’t exist at that temperature. Pretty sure we refer to that as “ice” at that point. But then again I’m not collecting an annual salary of $150,963like Paul Moosey.

Yup, no accidents in Worcester. I’m only listening to the police scanner right now and every five minutes another accident is being called in. Other people aren’t getting in accidents because they’re too afraid to leave their homes because the streets are death traps right now. Oh yea, and this tractor truck that’s stuck on unplowed Pleasant Street is an optical illusion:

It’s all good though, because we still paid $1,500 for RBG to go to a poetry slam in Oakland. We still wrote Mosaic tons of checks so Keesha LaTulippe could sell diversity training. We still have the extra cash to hire a “Chief Diversity Officer.” We still had enough money to host 10 discussions about race and brought the Department of Justice here for a month to do so. We still have enough money to hire a search committee for Superintendent, even though Joe Petty and Ed Augustus will just ignore them and hire the acting Superintendent anyway.

All of those things are more important than making sure the roads are usable for taxpayers.

In 2013 Bob Moylan was in charge of the DPW in Worcester. The city was looking into a residency requirement for six figure municipal workers like Moosey. Not surprisingly, Moosey adamantly opposed this requirement:

In an interview, Mr. Moosey, deputy public works commissioner, said that while he doesn’t rule it out, he and his wife are reluctant to move to the city. He maintained that he can do just as good a job living 20 miles from Worcester.

“I understand there’s a perception there, but I don’t have any immediate plans to move. It’s difficult to move,” Mr. Moosey said. “It’s not a deal-breaker to the manager whether I move into the city or not.”
LOL. The guy doesn’t even live in Worcester and he’s got the minerals to tell those of us that have to navigate on these third world roads that the streets aren’t slippery or icy. What a dooshnozzle. Personally, Turtleboy doesn’t favor a residency requirement, but if you don’t live here at least pretend like you do. And anyone who thinks the roads are fine just comes across as an out of touch poopsmooch.

Not surprisingly this is the same dingbat who thought it would be wise to build a driving range at Green Hill golf course, even though there’s absolutely no demand for it and the market is already saturated. Don’t worry though, because he said it would raise revenue and obviously this guy has great instincts.

Anyway City Manager Ed Augustus hire this guy because he was next in line, and that’s how things work under the current administration. If you want to express your disgust with these nudniks, here is their contact information:

Ed Augustus: CityManager@worcesterma.gov  and here’s his phone number – (508) 799-1175.

Paul Moosey: (508) 929-1300   dpw@worcesterma.gov

Your tax dollars paid 8 hours of plowing time to every plow that went out..Does it look like 8 hours of plowing was done ? Turtle could ask for an audit but that will go over as well as the mosaic audit

Too bad Turtle did not swing through the city cemetery on hope ave after the storm..You would have been able to get some pictures of all the city plows while the workers slept

Goddard memorial drive( the road to the airport ) was a total mess all day. You can tell Obama wasn’t coming to the city. Last time he did they repaved pleasant street , total last minute project. Too bad for everyone flying into Worcester. The parking lot was all plowed but as soon as you left the parking lot you took your life into your own hands going down the hills. But the roads weren’t slippery according to the head cheese at city hall

Hey, TB, you won again! “Worcester City Manager on Storm Response” on T&G’s website as of 1:39 p.m. He says, “We needed to do better”. Well, DUH!

I urge everyone to read the entire article in today’s Telegram. I think the paper gets a secret kick out of quoting Moosey and Petty and Augustus verbatim because they are so incredibly stupid and inartful in their speech. Moosey says “kind of” and “sort of” more frequently than a not-too-bright eight -year old. Our leaders are lazy morons. Productive people choose the private sector and these dime store grifters go into government service.

I’m in the city every day for work, travel most of the area of the east side and Main South out to Cherry Valley. Once you leave a main artery, tighten up the seat belt. Henchman, Moen and Cresent Sts. off Lincoln, all ice. Mt. Vernon starting at Hooper going up hill, plowed but no other treatment road all iced over. Earle St. worse than Mt. Vernon. Real challenge try driving over Bedford Ave. between Pilgrim and Dana with all of those stop signs. Al l ice as you attempt to start on the incline before each intersection. Seems to me that someone figured there is no school this week, so who gives a shit. thanks Paul.

We pay taxes to have the roads cleared of snow and ice. Was it done yesterday….NO

  • Welcome to New England
    December 30, 2015 at 12:28 pm

Look, I’m sick of hearing people cry over 2 inches of snow. This isn’t Georgia. We don’t shut the state down for a little ice and snow. Everyone should man-up, grow a sack, and learn to drive on ice/snow. If I can get a tiny 4 cylinder clown car up wigwam hill you all can get to work in that “terrible” mess we got.

I swear people just try to find something to bitch about for the sake of bitching about it.

Wigwam hill is nothing compared to the other hills in Worcester I go up and down that hill in any weather it’s the steep steep hills that they should be paying attention to I work for a transportation company do I’m in the streets all day and let me tell you. You need to take your clown car up some hills like Wayne street or gage street and see how you do I don’t care if you are the best driver in the world nothing gets thru roads that are frozen solid

      • Welcome to New England
        December 30, 2015 at 2:03 pm

No its not the steepest but it is a private road that the city gets to whenever they feel like it. So most of the people up there have to deal with it without sand/salt or a decent plowing. I concurred the side streets of Lincoln St yesterday as well (Orne I think). That one was even easier than Wigwam.

TAX PAYERS HAVE THE RIGHT TO CLEARED ROADS…..AND IT’S NOT JUST A LITTLE SNOW AND ICE IF A FIRE TRUCK HAD TO BARREL ASS SIDEWAYS DOWN THE STREET! YOU MAY NOT GIVE A RATS ASS WHERE YOUR TAX MONEY GOES BUT WHEN IT COMES TO SAFETY…..I DO AND SO DO A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE!! HAVE A FABULOUS DAY!

Mind sharing with me where it says it’s a “right” to have cleared roads? No? Nothing? Didn’t think so. Learn how to drive or stay home.
