BloombergA boyish drug company entrepreneur, who rocketed to infamy by jacking up the price of a life-saving pill from $13.50 to $750, was arrested by federal agents at his Manhattan home early Thursday morning on securities fraud related to a firm he founded.

Martin Shkreli, 32, ignited a firestorm over drug prices in September and became a symbol of defiant greed. The federal case against him has nothing to do with pharmaceutical costs, however. Prosecutors in Brooklyn charged him with illegally taking stock from Retrophin Inc., a biotechnology firm he started in 2011, and using it to pay off debts from unrelated business dealings. He was later ousted from the company, where he’d been chief executive officer, and sued by its board.

In the case that closely tracks that suit, federal prosecutors accused Shkreli of engaging in a complicated shell game after his defunct hedge fund, MSMB Capital Management, lost millions. He is alleged to have made secret payoffs and set up sham consulting arrangements. A New York lawyer, Evan Greebel, was also arrested early Thursday. He’s accused of conspiring with Shkreli in part of the scheme.

We haven’t talked about this dickbag before, because what is there to say that hasn’t already been said? Guy is the worst person to ever live. He jacked up the price of a life saving pill from $13.50 to $750 just because he could. He is the reason the democratic party exists and gets people elected to office. Even Donald Trump thinks this guy is an asshole, which puts him in pretty special company.

My favorite part about this buttnut is that he tried to donate $2,700 to Bernie Sanders campaign. No, that’s not a typo. This guy supports Bernie freaking Sanders – a man whose entire existence revolves around vilifying people like Martin Shkreli. Apparently when you donate to Bernie that you get back this automated email from the campaign team:

“Our political system is corrupt. Big Money controls much of what happens. Together, you and I are changing that. Thank you again for your support. Best, Bernie.”

I feel like he tried giving money to Bernie, just so he could get that email back in response and put it up on his fridge to show the world he was trolling America’s favorite socialist. It’s the only thing that makes sense, and it seems like something he would do. Unfortunately for him Bernie rejected the money and donated it to charity instead.

According to Bloomberg, Shkreli initially responded to the criticism by saying he would lower the Daraprim price and then changed his mind again. When Hillary Clinton tried one more time last month to get him to cut the cost, he dismissed her with the tweet “lol.”

He also said he wanted to raise prices even higher:

At a Forbes summit in New York this month, wearing a hooded sweatshirt, he said if he could have done it over, “I probably would have raised the price higher,” adding, “my investors expect me to maximize profits.”

And just to be the biggest bag of dicks whoever lived, he did this:

He recently spent millions on the only copy of a Wu-Tang Clan album that music fans would love to hear and then told Bloomberg Businessweek that he had no immediate plans to listen to it.

Luckily it appears that the government has confiscated the Wu-Tang album.

Is there any more proof that Karma is a real thing? Technically what this idiot was doing was perfectly legal, and in America we can’t arrest you for being an asshole. But when you spend your entire life purposely trying to be the villain, shit catches up to you:

Look, Turtleboy upsets people sometimes too. But the difference between us and this guy is that we are ultimately fighting for the people. And our goal is not to upset people, it’s to spread the truth. This guy purposely went out of his way to be a villain for the sake of being a villain. And if you’re gonna go full villain like that, you better make sure you don’t get arrested for securities fraud. A veteran villain knows the public humiliation that would come along with getting arrested, so they make sure that all their bases are covered. But Martin Shkreli is obviously a rookie villain and now he’s going to jail where he can hike up the prices on toilet paper.

I hope he gets AIDS in prison and then can’t afford his medication when he gets out.

With guys like Shkreli floating around, I am surprised partisan bickering still exists. It’s childish.

Eliminate the Shkreli type scumbags, then we can sort the rest out.
