Apparently Spanky McFarlane wrote a column recently criticizing the police for raiding the wrong apartment on 17 Hillside Ave. We didn’t see it, because we don’t waste our time clicking on Spanky’s garbage. I mean, we already know the weak sauce he brings to the table, so what’s the point of reading it? Plus with this situation you knew he was gonna go to town because he doesn’t miss an opportunity to bash the police when they’re right, never mind when they make a mistake.

Anyway, apparently Police Chief Gary Gemme actually wasted his time reading it and gave Spanky a spanking on the WPD’s Facebook page:

In an effort to be transparent, below are Police Chief Gary J. Gemme’s responses to questions from Worcester Telegram and Gazette columnist Clive McFarlane.

Mr. McFarlane’s question – First, the affidavit clearly stated that the official address of the intended target was different from the address targeted by the SWAT team.

Chief Gemme’s response – The SWAT team did not target an address or an individual. The Worcester police SWAT was asked by the MSP to secure apartment 3 of 17 Hillside Street. MSP had a search warrant for 17 Hillside Street apartment 3 signed by a magistrate of the court. The warrant was for two illegal firearms. The magistrate in signing the warrant believed there was probable cause to believe that weapons would be located at 17 Hillside Street apartment number 3.

Mr. McFarlane’s question – The affidavit indicated the possibility of young children being in the apartment, but most importantly, the state trooper’s intelligence about the occupants and the going-ons at the targeted address was entirely dependent on what the informant had to say. The affidavit did not indicate that the state police did any independent surveillance of the address, before authorizing the SWAT raid.

Chief Gemme’s response – I can’t speak to the specifics of the MSP investigation and refer all questions to them.

Mr. McFarlane’s question – Is it standard operating procedure to request a no-knock warrant search based solely on an informant’s testimony, without any independent intelligence gathering (such as timely surveillance targeted address) by law enforcement officials?

Chief Gemme’s response – I can’t speak to the MSP investigation and refer all question to them. I also can not speak to the magistrates reasoning in approving the warrant. Not every application for a warrant with an unannounced (no knock) entry is approved by the courts. The magistrate or judge must believe there is probable cause to believe that the unannounced entry is needed for the safety of the officers.

Mr. McFarlane’s question – Is there a protocol controlling how state troopers serve warrants in the city?

Chief Gemme’s response – MSP contacts a police official in the department when they need assistance from WPD. In the case of a search warrant approved by the courts authorizing an unannounced entry (no-knock) they request the assistance of our SWAT. The SWAT supervisor reviews the warrant and if it is properly signed and for weapons or involves individuals with a violent criminal history we will usually secure the location for them.

It’s exactly what we’ve been saying from the beginning – anyone blaming the Worcester Police for this is a moron. This was a gigantic fuck up and the only people that can’t be blamed for it are the people who lived in that apartment and the WPD. The State Police got crappy intelligence from a crappy snitch, which got them a no-knock warrant for 17 Hillside Ave, and they raided the wrong house. They asked the WPD for help, and the WPD asked to see the warrant signed by a magistrate, and it was provided to them. End of WPD involvement in this story.

Is Clive the most dislikable person in Worcester? I mean, it takes a lot for the chief of police to go out of his way to respond to a columnist at a newspaper that no one reads anymore. Spanky asked these questions in his column because he thought they’d go unanswered. Then he could bitch and whine about a lack of transparency, as if the Chief of Police of the second largest city in New England owes this irrelevant, cop hating, pompous asshole anything. Because God forbid the police execute a search warrant and try to take a gang banger off the streets in the middle of the ultra violent Worcester Summer of Love 2015.

But I’d pay money to see his face right now. No way he could’ve seen this one coming. After all, those were rhetorical questions that weren’t actually supposed to be answered. That was the whole point. Because Spanky already knew the answers to those questions. He just wanted to make a point that the WPD are in the business of covering up harassment of citizens. Then this happened. Tough day to be Spanky.

Look, we all know what Clive’s deal is. He got arrested for being a drunken dooshnozzle back in 2004 when he refused to leave a bar. The officer who put the cuffs on him just happened to be the most controversial guy on the force, so logically Spanky blamed it all on racism, even though the officer was Latino. As a result all cops are racist, particularly the Worcester Police, and bad guys can never do any wrong.

The critics will say that Turtleboy Sports is some terrible, controversial blog because we use potty words. But they focus on our language because they know that our message is the right one. We support police and the Telegram and Gazette hates the police. You tell me which one is worth boycotting.

Can TB replace images of Clyde with just scumbag steve’s hat? Sort of like how Doonsbury used to depict Quayle as a feather?

We all know Clive gets away with this because he’s “really” black, unlike me, who is secretly Chinese.

You know what I don’t like about Clive? I was a fan at one time just as I’m a fan of Colbert and Stewart and the onion. 15 years ago I scraped all my nickels together to workout at Worcester Fitness so that I could network and right away I met people I’d heard about but I saw Clive with my own eyes and introduced myself. I told him sincerely that I loved his articles which at the time I did. I loved the whole point cointerpoint structure of journalism at the time. Crossfire with the bald guy and the rich kid with the bowtie was the best show at the time. They respected each other, it was awesome. Clive wanted nothing to to do with me which is cool because I’m the exact same way at the gym except I’m not a public figure. Like it or not Clive was a local celebrity even before the TB blogs and easy to recognize.

The reason I hold it against him now is because I was a young white kid genuinely in awe that the real Clive worked out at the same gym as me at the same time sometimes. I was all logic back then, no experience, he had more credibity to me than the professors I had just escaped. He did say thanks to me when I I introduced myself as a fan but he never smiled or said hello after that. I never understood that. I’ve always figured he was a shy intellectual. That’s my take.

What I don’t like is that I think that he doesn’t like me. Clive dude, you’re smart, everyone knows that. Broaden your horizons a bit and stop being such a snob

Good point. Police haters don’t assign any blame to the court official that approved it all. Any no knock warrant should always be strong and unwavering. If not, someone will die.

Is it me or has Old Balls been flying under the radar since a closer look at the Mosaic circus was called for?

Yea, most of his and his alternate accounts who post on his blogs are constantly being removed for hate speech and personal attacks.

Much like ol’ Clive Racebait, people are tired of his old, over the top, made up stories, conceitedness, same ol same ol racism, name calling, insults and immature taunting that they have stopped viewing his trash. 6 months ago the comment section would be loaded with messages, now? Mostly Old Balls spamming his off topic blog and the occasional new TnG customer being surprised that this type of shit is allowed in a “family newspaper” and threatening to withdraw their subs.

Its obvious that Old Balls just cant hang w TBS. Hows that #1 blog going Old Balls? Ohh wats that? you didnt even get 2nd place after all that shit you talked? Hmmm….
