While the members of the community (hippie) group “Coming Together Collective” were busy organizing an e-mail harassment campaign and boycott of Turtleboy’s advertisers, the Turtleboy research department has been hard at work finding out a little more about these folks and who supports them.
First off, we find it absolutely hilarious that their campaign was spearheaded by Joyce McNickles, when we know it’s direct retaliation for exposing the Mosaic Cultural Complex’s epic failure at staying in compliance with state laws. Where is Brenda “Urkel Glasses” Jenkins? Oh yeah, she’s a little busy right now laying low and trying to stay out of the limelight.
The first thing we came across is this gem posted by a foundation that gave money to Mosaic.
Well will you look at who acted as their fiscal agent…Henry Lee Willis Community Center. Remember them? The state pulled their contracts for fiscal mismanagement. Of course at the time, certain politically correct members of the Worcester City Council took complete mental fits, accusing the state of some sort of underhanded favoritism. They all shut the hell up when the results of the state auditor’s audit came out. Here’s a link to a great Boston Globe article that talked about the audit. It’s priceless!
Sweet deal. The executive director took state funds to drive around in an Audi A6. Now we’re not saying that Mosaic’s business practices are as bad as their fiscal agent’s was, but this is the type of organization they’ve chosen to do business with in the past.
We’ve already established that Mosaic filed no annual reports since their inception, causing the Mass Secretary of State to dissolve them. They didn’t start filing them until 18 months later.
Now for all you nudniks in the comments section screaming “Lies” and “Not True”, put down your bongs for a couple of minutes and look real close at the snapshot. Revocation (of Mosaic’s corporate charter) on June 18, 2012. Now look at the top line where it says Application for Revival on April 17, 2014. What this means is that Mosaic did not exist from June 18, 2012 and April 17, 2014. You see, a corporation can only exist as a legal entity by the authority and good graces of the Massachusetts Secretary of State…and in order to stay in existence you have to do these mundane things like file annual reports rather than blocking traffic at Kelly Square.
What was most disturbing was finding this:
I don’t know what kind of “other personal services” the city was getting from Mosaic, but if it involves Urkel Glasses, I don’t think I want to know. But look at the date on that. It’s November 18, 2013, the period of time that Mosaic didn’t even exist as a legal entity. Shame on the City of Worcester. Someone at City Hall either fell asleep at their desk or they just didn’t care because they’re so in bed with PC organizations like Mosaic.
How does a check get authorized, written, approved and issued to a place that is not even a legal entity? You’d think the city might include getting a certificate of good standing from the secretary of state as part of its grant approval process. You know, just so they know that the checks they’re writing are going to legitimate places. We realize $8,513 is not a huge amount in the big scheme of things for the City, but were there other checks issued prior to that while Mosaic was not in compliance with state law for not filing annual reports?
And what about Mosaic Cultural Complex? Accepting a check made out to a corporation that doesn’t exist is equivalent to accepting a Social Security check on behalf of a dead person. It’s the same thing, and to me, it’s a fraud.
If I know Turtleboy Nation, they’re not going to be too happy about this. You want an e-mail campaign, Joyce? Brenda? You got it. We encourage all the turtle riders to send respectful e-mails to Mosaic Cultural Complex’s sponsors and donors voicing your concern that they’re giving public funds that they’ve been entrusted with to an organization with questionable business practices. Include a link to this blog. Here’s who we know about so far: The City of Worcester, The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (through the City of Worcester), UMass Medical School, The Greater Worcester Community Foundation and The Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts. As we learn about more, we’ll pass it along.

This article is so racist.
Where is race mentioned?
I wonder what the Worcester Phoenix would have thought of all of this?
WTF would the city or any other entity be paying $ to the Mosaic non-entity for? What possible public benefit could that crew be providing in exchange for taxaye dollars?
If I EVER ephear a city councilor or city employe complain about not having funds to address problems, I will make posters with their faces printed on those cancelled checks. Stop pissing away our money and lower our taxes.
“WTF would the city or any other entity be paying $ to the Mosaic non-entity for. What possible public benefit could that crew be providing in exchange for taxaye dollars?”
Why? The place has a warm and fuzzy feel-good name and some politician probably thought they could get some votes in the process. The group was looking for whatever cash they could get and politicians look for whatever votes they can get. Each are using eachother for their immediate needs and neither really caring too much beyond their cash or vote grab.
Ppl are useless they have no clue about mosaic and what it stands for!! What really gets me is turtle boy is getting his info off the Internet which goes to show his intellect. Lmao
guano jenkins – shutup hippie. LMAO
Welcome to the 21st Century where tax records are public record and are electronic.
Hey TB, old man Carlo “I hate my own skin color” Baldino lost his mind on the TnG blogs about you. Funny how he mentions all the drama but fails to mention his wife in any of it. He speaks of her like he’s never met her. Talk about intellectual cowardice from a senile old fart who threatens to beat up people. What a sad clown.
“…with a focus on men of color.”
RACISTS.
Another great investigative piece by Turtleboy that shows no effort to reach out to the two parties involved: the city and Mosaic Cultural Complex. If you’re going to be a “community blog” that’s one thing; if you are going to start writing like a real journalist and tackling what you see as problems within the city, it’s shameful that you feel comfortable enough to not even indicate an attempt to get the full story.
This way , we get to the facts instead of everybody’s spin!
I was told the executive director of Henry Lee Willis Center was hired by the Worcester Housing Authority recently. Tje same man who should be in jail for stealing money from the state. How did he get away with it? Inside job much? How much to you think they are paying him? Can you say political hack job. Maybe its time the WHA does some explaining about our tax dollars!!

This is nothing more than an old-fashioned “protection” racket. You give me money and I won’t let any other criminal group bother you (supposedly).
Then the questions are, “who endorsed the check” (name, address, phone, etc.) and what was the money used to “fund”? For that matter, who really approved this disbursement? What budget item is it listed under? So many questions, and probably no straight answers. Not surprising.
Seeing that many of the same dim bulbs that organized the occupation of lake park and the common a few years ago are behind the boycott, I’d have to guess it will be just as effective. It will be a lot of noise and then you don’t hear about it after a few weeks and then they are on to their next made up issue to have a conversation about and study, because that’s all they do, have conversations and study stuff, cost working tax payers money, and get nothing accomplished.
As far as this article goes; hippies 0 TB 1+++
Nothing beats some good old fashioned investigative journalism.
How does a check get authorized, written, approved and issued to a place that is not even a legal entity?
As someone who has had to deal with the backlash of being on the opposite end of this, I hope Mosiac and those involved get their dates in court.
