Unfortunately, this is how a lot of the nonprofits operate. It is an accounting scheme whereby the Executive Director and some of the connected employees get to drive a company vehicle and to have an expense account for dining and travel. All they have to do is donate a very small amount to the charity they are “sponsoring.” That is why you are better donating your time or money where it is most needed, bypassing the middleman who always takes a big cut.
