After I started exposing Monica Cannon-Grant’s bogus cash cow of a non-profit, Violence In Boston INC, I filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the City of Boston. In particular I wanted to see any checks the City of Boston wrote to MCG, and any emails, texts, or communications between Mayor Marty Walsh and MCG.
Attorney Shawn Williams is Boston’s Director of Public Records.
By law he has 20 days to fulfill my request. On September 15 he acknowledged that he had received the request.
But I never heard back. So I followed up on October 26, since the City of Boston is violating federal law by ignoring me, and Williams got back to me.
Two weeks later and I still haven’t heard back from him. Why is the City of Boston covering for Monica Cannon-Grant? I called and left him a voicemail as well as sending him a follow up email but have yet to hear back. Meanwhile, MCG admitted that she has raised over $1 million for the non-profit, which was never registered with the AGO’s office, and has no accounting whatsoever as to where the money goes.
Just a reminder that this is the racist bigot the City of Boston is violating the law and covering up for.

Previous posters are correct. Mass Sec of State to investigate. Mass AG to prosecute if there is a pattern. Might want to amend your request or do another asking for emails on other complaints not filled.

It’s not a federal FOIA, it’s a Massachusetts Public Records Law violation.
You file a request in writing, they have 10 business days to provide you with an estimate of the cost of supplying the records along with the timeframe in which they can provide them once they receive payment.
If you do not receive your reply in 10 business days, then you can file a complaint with the MA Secretary of State’s office.
The most common tactic used by government officials attempting to cover shit up is to respond to your request with some obscene cost associated with supplying the records (like thousands of dollars to provide copies of emails) claiming it is going to take hours and hours to retrieve and then have someone go through each email and “redact” information from them.
It is unusual for them not to respond, since not responding means a complaint is going to the MA SOS and potentially MA AG’s office. This kid is obviously a n00b at playing the game and hasn’t figured out all the ways to stonewall people like veterans at the game know.
