Yesterday we asked turtle riders if they know who the fan was who threw beer in Tyreek Hill’s face at the Patriots game.
We wrongfully guessed he was from Abington. Turns out he’s actually from Mansfield, so at least he had a short trip home. And we waited all day for someone to tell us his name when we finally got it:
His name is Brock Horstmann, a 2015 graduate of Mansfield High who played on the football team.
His name was gonna come out eventually so it might as well be us that broke it. Was listening to WEEI today and for once I agreed with Alex Reimer. The media is gonna act like this kid stole the Mona Lisa. They’re gonna be at his court appearances and pretend like he committed some unspeakable crime. I’ve had a lot of time to think about this one today, and the more I ponder it the more I don’t give a shit that he did it. So Tyreek Hill got some beer in the face. Big whoop. I wish someone would throw beer in my face right now. Would save me a trip to the fridge. Usually Turtleboy Jr. handles that for me but he’s sleeping right now. The Chiefs are a classless organization with a wannabe Gronk tight end, and they drafted Hill in spite of his arrest for choking and punching his pregnant girlfriend. This happened two years after Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher killed his girlfriend and then drove to the Chief facilities and killed himself.
They’re also playing in a league that’s been as permissive as possible about domestic abuse in general. Let’s also not forget that half the players on the field intentionally disrespected the flag several times last year. Whether or not you agree with that protest, their goal was to do something controversial that it pissed off the fans. So yea, let’s take it easy with the pearl clutching about a beer in the face. He’s rich, he’ll be OK.
Bottom line is he got kicked out of the game, he’s “banned” (which really means nothing), he lost a $9 beer, and he’s gonna have to pay for a lawyer right now to deal with this bullshit. His punishment is more than sufficient enough already. And all because he made a stupid and impulsive decision out of pure frustration that seemed like the right thing to do at the time. Gillette Stadium shouldn’t be a friendly place to play. If you come here and showboat you risk getting beer in the face. End of story. Free muh boi.

Kraft is a cheap bastard. He pays his beer pourers $5 an hour plus tips that they don’t get because the beer prices are astronomical. The people who work in the concession stands are not paid! They are volunteers from different organizations who receive the profits of their concession stand that goes to their organization. What a racket and great free labor.

i think this story is missing the point. This kid is a hero. Do you not understand that? He’s gonna get a conditional dismissal in court – this will not stick to his record. And he doused an idiot Chief WR who was showboating and asking for it in what could eventually be seen as the most important regular seasons win of the season. We are not shaming the guy, we are celebrating him.
How was Tyreek Hill “showboating”? He just outran the Patriots secondary for a 75 yard touchdown. He came to a stop and had a beer thrown at him. He is the fastest receiver in the NFL. Did you expect him to stop on dime? I don’t care how much spin anyone throws on this situation, it was a classless act and this is exactly why everyone outside of New England hates not only our teams, but us, the fans.
