People are starting to realize that the lockdown is a failed policy that kills the elderly, endangers at risk children, destroys the economy, and violates civil liberties. You’re not a good person if you’re on Team Lockdown and you’re certainly not saving lives. Everyone at this rally will be fine. If one of them gets the bug and dies then that’s a risk they were willing to take, and it’s how freedom works. The idea that you can’t protest is the most un-American, dystopian bullshit I’ve ever heard. I would much, much rather die than live in a country where the ability to assemble and speak freely was suspended because of a virus that almost exclusively kills the elderly and those who are already sick.
If the government cared about saving lives they would’ve put all their time and energy into making sure COVID didn’t get into nursing homes, since this is mostly a nursing home pandemic. Instead they wasted their time and effort into policing the healthy while allowing old folks homes like the one in Holyoke to become death factories. Charlie Baker once again has blood on his hands.
