The man, hidden behind the name Caesar and a profile picture showing half a face, threatened police as an ambulance drove in front of him. The video was posted to his then-public Twitter page as he drove on Route 24 in Stoughton Wednesday morning.
The video, which is one of many in which the man talks about police while driving past cruisers or standing in the lobby of a police station, was removed from his Twitter, which he since made private. But the threatening video was enough to put area police on watch for the person who posted it. And police are investigating the comments as “threats.”
“State police at our Fusion Center were aware of the threats and the bizarre claims,” state police spokesman David Procopio told The Enterprise. “We sent out an officer safety bulletin to Mass. law enforcement agencies last night.”
The state’s Fusion Center, where the tips poured into, is a 24-hour statewide information sharing center among local, state and federal public safety agencies. In the video, the man, who was stuck in traffic, claims police are out to get him and purposely sent a Brewster ambulance to slow him down.
“Early in the morning, right? So I get up to go to work, look who gets in front of me,” he said in the video. “The police using emergency vehicle to (expletive) with a n—– like me.”
The man, who Procopio didn’t identify, then threatened police.
“But a n—– like me is going to take a (expletive) gun and kill one of these (expletive),” he said in the video. “I can’t take ‘em all, but I’m gonna take a few with me.”
The man the car is driving gets close to the ambulance by the end of the video, as if the driver is going to switch to the outside lane.While he doesn’t specifically threaten the paramedics in the video, the video caused concerns at the ambulance company.
“It was very concerning once we saw it,” Mark Brewster, the president and CEO of Brewster Ambulance, told The Enterprise. He said law enforcement officials made the company aware of the video, but then it became widely talked about internally.
“It was definitely disturbing and concerning,” Brewster said. “Safety of our crews is my number one priority. It’s definitely something that leads to sleepless nights.”
Before making his Twitter private, the man who posted the video said police showed up to his door when his wife was home.
“They watching my ass tweet … just joking guys,” he said.
Boston police responded to the man’s Dorchester home Thursday evening and told officers he was exercising his freedom of speech. His Twitter profile was named Caesar when the video was posted, but he changed it to “WhatFreedomOfSpeech?” by Thursday night. The unidentified man is not yet facing any charges.
“We are investigating the threats,” Procopio said.
Oh look, another genius who thinks he understands what the First Amendment means. So a bunch of people sent us this guy’s tweet the other day but he took it down before we could blog about it. I’m sure this guy is a real winner too. Glad to know that someone out there is married to him and is endangering everyone by not getting him psychological treatment immediately. Because obviously this guy is insane and it’s only a matter of time until he kills someone.
Here’s my question – how come they’re not releasing his name? Dude is a not only a huge asshat who deserves to be publicly shamed, he’s also a threat to society. I feel like if I was living on this street I would wanna know if my neighbor was a complete psychopath threatening to kill cops on Twitter. That type of information could come in handy in the future. Just sayin.
And how do they not have enough to arrest this guy? At the very least he was using his cell phone to videotape while he was driving. Can’t they at least write him an outrageous ticket? I mean, the guy wants to play hardball, so it’s time to be a royal pain in the ass right back to him.
