I was invited to speak in Lexington at a closed door meeting for Republicans today. This was my first ever public speaking event, and I probably could’ve gone for a lot longer but had to keep it short and to the point for time’s sake. I was a teacher for 11 years so speaking in front of groups of strangers is something I’m used to and something I miss. I’m willing to speak in front of any group of people regardless of whether or not we disagree, because the essence of democracy is the free exchange of ideas. Although this was a Republicans club I could give a similar speech in front of a group of liberals, and explain some things I like about the left and other things I think they need to work on. That is, if they’d have me. The speech I gave today is about the nexus of Turtleboy and my history as a teacher, as outlined in the book. If you haven’t read it then grab your copy in the link below. Many on the left would agree with all of the things I said today, because free speech shouldn’t be a cause that one side champions and the other side opposes.

Hello Turtle Riders. As you know if you follow Turtleboy we are constantly getting censored and banned by Facebook for what are clearly not violations of their terms of service. Twitter has done the same, and trolls mass reported our blog to Google AdSense thousands of times, leading to demonitization. We can get by and survive, but we could really use your help.
