UPDATE: The kid who tweeted us the video of his teacher has apologized:
Lesson learned hopefully.
The only people who are dumb enough to think that Turtleboy is one singular person are the same people who are dumb enough to believe that “Turtleboy” was formerly a teacher. Your first hint should’ve been our atrocious spelling and grammatical errors. In my opinion you’d be nuts to ever become a teacher nowadays. Not that we don’t respect the hell out of teachers, it’s just a thankless job where you’re held to ridiculous, unattainable standards, and you’re not compensated appropriately for it. We’ve seen how teachers at North High, Vernon Hill, Southbridge, and David Prouty are treated by overzealous administrators. No thanks. All set with that. God bless you if you can stomach it, but it ain’t for this guy and never was.
Want more proof? Some kid from Oxford High School just tweeted at us with a video he was recording of his history teacher, Mr. Jenkins:
If Turtleboy ever met that teacher we’d shake his hand and thank him for keeping it old school. Kids are disrupting his class, acting-a-fool, and he tells the one kid, “put your hand down, this isn’t question and answer session.” Basically he’s telling the kids who are acting up that they can have a good time in class and all get along, or they can continue to act like dooshnozzles and he’ll be forced to be a hard ass and contact their parents.
Good. I’m glad to see there are still teachers out there like some of the hardos I had back in the day. Because when it’s all said and done these are the kind of teachers you will remember. The people who didn’t take your bullshit, held you to a higher standard, and weren’t afraid to let your parents know that you’re not the angel you tell them you are when you get home from school.
Apparently when this kid sent us this tweet he thought we’d be sympathetic towards him and turn on his teacher. He even told us that the purpose of sending us the video was for us to get him fired:
LOL. Nice try kid. Didn’t work out the way you had envisioned though, because he’s not the villain in this blog – you are. Better luck next time. Maybe your parents will read this blog so your teacher doesn’t have to call home and tell them what you were doing in class.
This was the explanation he gave us about the video:
First of all, he didn’t “threaten to fail you.” He gave you the simple choice – do what he tells you to do and he’ll take it easy on you, or keep acting like a moron and there will be a pop quiz every day for the rest of the year. (no those words exactly, but that’s what we inferred). Secondly, if you act like that every day and crack jokes while he’s trying to teach his class then you deserve to fail. I know you’re growing up in this world where nothing is ever your fault and everyone gets a trophy and when you fail it’s the teacher’s fault, not your’s. But in the real world people who act like you did in that video generally fail in life. So take your teacher’s advice and stop being a knucklehead. It will help you down the road.
This is yet another example of the thankless job teachers do every day. Here this guy is trying to teach them something about some random aspect of history that the state frameworks has told him he has to teach, and these kids could care less. Because when you’re a boy in high school the last thing on your mind is whatever the teacher is trying to teach you. Generally for upperclassmen their priorities are, 1) who am I making out with this weekend, 2) who are we getting to buy us beer this weekend, and 3) what lie am I gonna tell my parents next? That’s about it.
And what are these kids doing while the teacher is trying to maintain order in his classroom? Secretly tape recording him. First of all, how is this not against the law? Imagine if it were the other way around. Imagine if the teacher was secretly recording his kids and then he went home, uploaded it to social media, and sent it to Turtleboy for the sole purpose of humiliating them. He’d be fired in a heartbeat.
But yet kids can do it to him and there’s probably gonna be no consequences for it. This should be a HUGE deal. He not only videotaped it, he put it on Twitter. It’s been favorited by 16 other students and retweeted by 3. This is why it’s so insane to be a teacher in 2016. You’re not only humiliated DURING school by a bunch of pukey kids, you’re humiliated on Twitter AFTER school by the kids and all their friends who weren’t in class to watch you be humiliated the first time.
The kid is bragging about other athletes “liking” his hidden video:
Other kids are joining in and calling the teacher a douche:
It’s insane that schools allow kids to do this. I don’t give a shit if it’s “against the rules.” If you’re not enforcing it and coming down hard on kids that break these rules, then it’s not really a rule. It’s a suggestion. This kid should be suspended out of school, no questions asked. Throw the book at him. This is a MAJOR privacy violation, and you can just hear in the video the lack of respect they’re giving the teacher.
But of course we can’t do that anymore because a bunch of gutless politicians have told schools they can’t suspend too many kids anymore because of the “school to prison pipeline.” Fuck that. These people are RUINING public schools and enabling shitty behavior like this. None of them have the balls to actually do what these teachers do on a daily basis, but they have no problem holding them accountable when kids don’t do well on a standardized test, or don’t graduate in four years.
Sorry kid, Turtleboy is a pro-teacher, pro-cop, pro-nurse, pro-firefighter, pro-social worker, family feminist blog. We hope you get in trouble when your principal inevitably reads this (which it’s guaranteed they will), and we hope you learned a very valuable lesson about the Internet.
P.S. Don’t bother taking down the tweets or video. We’ve already screenshotted them and downloaded the video for our records. Don’t. Poke. The. Turtle.

You can’t say that none of you have never made a mistake when you were in high school. Maybe not one this big but you show me one person who hasn’t made a mistake in there life and I’ll show you a liar. Don’t be so quick to judge people. Everybody makes mistake. Even you reading this probably have made s mistake but does that make you a bad person or a “scumbag” no.
Don’t mean to make it worse on the kid, but I actually am not sure what he did is even legal. In Massachusetts we have Wiretapping laws. Recording sound I.e. a person talking, without their permission, even in a video, is illegal. Publishing it is definitely a problem. I am fairly certain this falls under that umbrella. http://www.masslive.com/news/index.ssf/2014/06/massachusetts_wiretap_law_expl.html
I will only say that turtleboy should have identified this student. What are you afraid of turtleboy?
Pay closer attention…
Old school methods are discouraged now. This is why our public schools are such a mess. It’s all about the “data”, it doesn’t matter what the reality is, so long as the charts look good.
I had a teacher at Hudson High named Mr. Gilliat in the 90s. Mr. Gilliat was a Green Beret that did three tours in Vietnam. This teacher reminds me of him – no nonsense, focused on delivering a quality education, doesn’t take BS from anyone. Those old school teachers are the best kind. If you had any concerns his door was always open after school or at recess, but during class time, it was all business. He was my favorite teacher of all time.
Also imagine if someday this kid records his manager at a staff meeting and posts it on the net. Straight to unemployment. It does appear that he has apologized, which is good, so I think this guy posted in the heat of the moment. I mentioned social media and NO second chances in another blog, so TB, please don’t overly shame this kid as it appears he’s trying to make amends.
Lmfao. I used to go here and I know Mr. Jenkins is not very liked because he is strict and wants kids to get their work done instead of fucking around. I find this pretty stupid on his part because not only did Jenkins not do anything wrong, but just the fact he would submit this to somebody other than the school district and do it publicly on Twitter just to get caught. OHS has turned into a terrible school since this year as well. The kids don’t give a shit about school more than ever, there’s been more than enough fights this year and clearly now, ignorant kids doing ignorant things like this. I always respected Jenkins for being strict although I never had him. And he was always extremely nice if I ever was with a friend who needed to talk to him. OHS is pretty trashy now.
I loved having Mr Jenkins. he’s just the only teacher who can follow through with disciplining assholes who won’t pay attention in class. he’s a great guy and a great teacher.
Went to school here and this teacher is great!do your work he wont bother you! I want to know why this kids fb says he lives in northbrookfield but goes to oxford school….
Because kids on Facebook but also OHS (idk about other school) allows you to come from out of town as long as you have a ride avaialable every day so he just might idk though
I went to oxford and I know they didnt allow that
School choice … This kid is from lovely Prouty #enoughsaid
The teachers, nurses, police, firefighters and social workers of the Commonwealth appreciate your support.
Wow. How do you have time to do all that?
I wish my teacher was this tame when I went to school. We need to give teachers the power to teach back or our society will continue the downward spiral we are on.
Ryan, if you are sincere about your apology that’s great. I did a ton of stupid shit when I was a kid but it wasn’t on You Tube or Twitter. Once you put that kind of stuff out it’s hard to take it back.
After having the opportunity to reflect about my decision to tweet that video yesterday, I recognize that it was poor judgement on my part.
I would like to apologize to Mr. Jenkins, my parents, and the Oxford High community for my actions.
Fake apology? Or is that real?
Well tell all your friends Ryan how it feels to be publicly shamed after a mistake as big as that one. This is our world now. You screw up like that on social media and everybody on the planet will know. And they will not forget even you take down the posts because someone will copy them. Once you hit a angry crazy send – that’s it game over.
“Mistakes are always forgivable, if one has the courage to admit them.” Bruce Lee.
Fly straight from this point forward, respect your parents, all authority and all your fellow human beings, and you will not believe how far you will go in this life. And that is the really fun part trust me on that. To be a failure absolutely sucks and you do not want that.
Sad part is it is illegal and I suspect against the school policy. Seems the Twitter links are gone. We can add dumbass to this kid’s curricula vitae.
yes, it is illegal to tape someone without notifying them you are doing so. this kid should be brought up on charges.
I actually had this teacher! He might have been a little tough but we actually learned! And im sorry but he was not the hardest teacher in that school when i was there!
I can imagine this kid’s terror and blubbering outrage if he was dragged out of the class by the hair and slammed into a wall locker, or nailed in the face with a dusty chalk eraser, or cracked in the back of the head for a smart-ass answer, or watching a scrum of Brothers charge into a classroom like a swarm of angry white-faced hornets.
It would be a life lesson that most of us who went to a Catholic High School didn’t have to personally experience, but the message was received loud and clear. Even the slow learners like this darling caught on quickly.
And those are the ones that end up doing state time later on in life. How cool will be they then?
These kids and the need for attention is crazy. He’s gonna be the coolest kid in school now though, not for the reason he wanted but its attention nonetheless. Little turd
awww the pussification of america
Total lack of respect.BobnMic is right, bet there end up being no concequences. Kid deserves a kick in the ass.
Just another example of today’s youth that can do no wrong because they do not know wrong from right. They don’t respect any kind of authority and are products of bad parents that gave up on parenting awhile ago. I bet this kid will not get the ass beating he deserves when Mom and Dad finds out. Put me down for 20 bucks.
This is our future work force and leaders. We are SO f!@ked.
