Moron Of The Week: Blogger Matt Walsh Says Robin Williams Was Selfish, And His Depression Could’ve Been Fixed With Some Joy

There have been a lot of different reactions to the death of Robin Williams. The man was one of the defining actors of my childhood. I’ve seen Jumanji, Alladin, and Mrs. Doubtfire five million times. But I didn’t know the man so it’s not exactly like I feel sad about it. But it’s the way that he died that makes this whole thing so shitty.

Suicide is a bitch. The person is gone and you can’t help but ask yourself what could have been done, because it takes a lot to kill yourself. Sure it was fashionable for teenagers in the 90’s to TALK about committing suicide since grunge music almost made it cool. (I’m not even kidding either. I look back at the music I liked in 8th grade and I’m hard pressed to find a song that doesn’t involve a teenager who wants to kill himself. What the fuck was my problem?) But going through with it is something totally different. Only someone who is extremely sick or believes they have no other options can actually do that.

Well, that’s what doctors and people with advanced degrees who actually know what the fuck they’re talking about will tell you about suicide. But for whatever reason conservative bloggers and journalists are using Robin Williams’ death as a prime opportunity for page views.

One of these numbnuts is Matt Walsh. I’m sure a lot of you have read this dooshnozzle’s blog before. He’s a wannabe Ann Coulter, except he seems to really believe what he’s saying. Sometimes I enjoy what he writes since I roll with the conservatives on a lot of issues. But lately he’s been getting worse and worse. He capped it off today with an article today entitled: “Robin Williams didn’t die from a disease, he died from his choice

Now you must understand that this dingbat has an army of followers. He has nearly a quarter million likes on Facebook because he writes posts like this. Basically he attracts every person out there who uses the Bible to prove their moronic point of view. There is no bigger fraud than someone who uses the Bible to justify their opinion. They offend me the most because I actually believe that religion is helped the world since the beginning of time. Without religion there would be no civil rights movement or abolitionism. Look it up.

But these frauds use the Bible to find obscure passages which they think give them the right to beat up gay people and shit on people like Robin Williams. So obviously he had his defenders with this trash. Luckily though I saw more posts on his Facebook page telling him to go fuck himself than supporting him. So there is still faith in humanity. Here was his introduction to the blog:

It’s essential that everyone understand a few things about suicide: it’s a choice. It’s not the result of a disease. It’s never right. It’s never OK. It’s always selfish. It’s never freeing. It will never solve anything, ever. Period.

You might think it’s “too soon” to be making this point, but I’d say there’s never been a better time. We can’t just sit here and let people go around saying that a man has been “freed” by suicide, or that he “died from depression,” as if a depressed person might reach a point where suicide claims them against their will.

These are truly terrible sentiments, and I KNOW that they have a horrible influence on people who might be contemplating suicide.

So give this a read and reserve judgment until you’ve heard what I have to say.

Note to self: After a celebrity commits suicide, wait at least one full week before writing a blog pretending to know what the fuck I’m talking about when it comes to complicated mental disorders.

What the hell was this idiot thinking? First of all, Matt Walsh will proudly tell you that he never went to college, because you don’t need to go to college. I feel him on that issue. I went to college and make less money then a lot of people who didn’t. I would consider trading in my college education if they did buybacks and become a cop or a plumber or invent Facebook. However, when your highest level of education involves passing Ms. Wolf’s gym class, you’re not really in a good position to talk about mental health disorders.

Yea, ya see the thing about diagnosing and giving advice about things like depression, is that people have been studying that stuff for long periods of time. They’ve conducted studies, done fieldwork, and reached conclusions based on their findings. They’re also familiar with the human brain, how it functions, and all the fancy scientific shit that causes people to kill themselves.

But Matt Walsh has a blog, so at least he’s got that goig for him. Clearly his lack of any prerequisite background in psychology won’t stop him from diagnosing the cure to complicated mental disorders such as depression. Here is his cure for this “terrible, monstrous atrocity”:

“We can debate medication dosages and psychotherapy treatments, but, in the end, joy is the only thing that defeats depression. No depressed person in the history of the world has ever been in the depths of despair and at the heights of joy at the same time.”

Oh, I get it. Robin Williams didn’t need any fancy medication or psychotherapy “treatments.” That shit’s for fancy pants scientists who think they’re smart because of their fancy “PHD’s.” Nah, all you really need to fix depression is “joy.” Don’t you get it? Don’t ya see? It’s just that fucking simple. I mean it makes sense right? If only Matt Walsh were there to tell Robin Williams a knock-knock joke, then this whole thing could’ve been avoided. He’s a regular Dr. Walsh, psychiatrist/psychologist/proctologist.

This post has elicited over 11,000 comments on his Facebook page and counting. A lot of them are from people who say something along the lines of, “I usually agree with you because I’m down with all the gay hating, but even this is too much for me to swallow. Please stop trying so hard and go back to writing about how everyone that watches porn is evil.”

But this guy has brainwashed so many nudniks out there that his supporters are out in droves too:

I wonder if people consider, when they foolishly and selfishly take their own life, how they not only show an attitude of spite and narcissism, but also a lack of value in the fact that others actually value and care about them? This is what drives the misery and anger of the survivors. Depression is a self loving God hating attitude, I know I have been there, it’s driven by a sad lie of the devil, and it always entails a self centered attitude, with little or no room for eyes that search for the glory of God, or Christ in the midst of the storm. It’s a childish “No! ” to the whisper of Christ’s “Peace, be still.”

Depression is a self loving God hating attitude.” You just can’t make this stuff up folks. People who suffer from this affliction aren’t really mentally sick. In reality they’re just narcissistic God haters. Like, these geniuses really think there are two small men standing on either shoulder and one of them is dressed as the devil and the other one is God. Robin Williams obviously told God to go fuck himself. That’s the logical way to look at this whole thing.

Here’s another one:

Exactly . . . Depression, addiction, and suicide (and many other things) are a result of the focus being taken off of God and His Holiness and turning it to ourselves. Satan’s greatest lie. It is SAD that this man chose this way of life that led him down this road to the choices that he made. Very sad. What are we believers doing to bring TRUTH, the TRUTH of God and His Son, to ALL who are hurting?

See that right there? That’s why so many people don’t wanna go to church. Don’t get me wrong, I am a big supporter of religion, and I’m not one of these fancy pants liberals who gets their jollies by putting actual religious folk down. But these dolts think they OWN religion. Newsflash, you’re not actually helping anyone out by going on misdirected rants on Matt Walsh’s Facebook page. You sound like the crazy guy begging for money with his pants down at Exit 12 off 290.

Finally Matt Walsh decided to defend himself in the comments and managed to make it much, much worse:

A lot of you didn’t even read it. Very disappointing. Also, don’t tell me what I have or haven’t dealt with. Don’t do that. You have no idea. You have no idea what I’ve seen in my own family and in my own community. Don’t sit there and tell me that just because you disagree. How dare you. Disgusting, truly.

Yea all you strangers have to stop telling Matt Walsh what he has and hasn’t dealt with. You don’t even know him. But he’s allowed to jump to conclusions about Robin Williams’ motivations because he they knew each other so well. Sure Matt Walsh is a demagogue who used Robin Williams’ death to profit, but don’t you DARE suggest that his blog is out of line!!

The ironic part about this is that this is exactly what he wanted wasn’t it? It’s like dude, you titled your blog, “Robin Williams didn’t die from a disease, he died from his choice.” Because to me that sounds like someone who’s purposely trying to raise the dooshnozzle bar just to upset people.

And why the fuck is he mad about people not reading the blog? Newsflash moron – you made your point with the title. What the fuck am I going to read in there that you didn’t already tell me? I actually read it, and just as I thought it was a bunch of bullshit from a make believe doctor whose only prescription for everything is “joy.”

The bottom line is that depression and other mental disorders are real and they require real medical treatment from trained professionals. People who commit suicide might seem like they’re committing a selfish act, but in reality something is seriously wrong with their brain. Either that or they see no other option. Were all those people who jumped out of the World Trade Center selfish too? No, they just didn’t wanna be burned alive. They were forced out of the building by heat and smoke, not selfishness. Their brains told them to jump, knowing they’d die if they did so. Robin Williams had voices too.

So hopefully Matt Walsh goes back to writing about white privilege and abortion. He does a good job with those topics. Suicide is obviously not his strong point.

Feel free to share your thoughts to keep the conversation going.

Matt Walsh is an asshole who has never suffered from the disease of depression. I normally don’t wish it on anyone, but I do on him. Let him feel like his life has no purpose (it’s the truth) and go to sleep hoping to not wake up. He thinks we enjoy these feelings? I can’t even continue my thoughts I’m so angry.

    Turtleboy,
It has been said; “Throw a rock into a pack of dogs and the one that yelps is the one you hit.” By your response to Matt Walsh’ opinion concerning suicide, it is clear to me that you are lacking the hope he spoke of. You are a perverse individual who cannot argue the merits of someone’s opinion without personal attack. A classic strategy of the left. You are good at ranting in your faceless way, but I’m pretty sure you’re good at nothing else. You sound like somone who was raised without a father to teach you the common respects afforded another man.

My “favorite” quote changed to reflect how much I credit his opinion, “In the end tallness is the only thing that defeats shortness. No tall person in the history of the world has ever been in the depths of shortness and at the heights of tallness at the same time. The two cannot coexist.” Showing how two things are opposites is not the same as proving that one is the antidote to the other.

Absolutely hilarious. Please write more of these.

Ms Wolfs gym class is no joke. I suggest you rephrase as to not give Matt Walsh too much credit. You spend a day in the life of a fupa fanny pack wearer and see if you don’t run the meanest gym class around!
