• Murray and her boyfriend Ray Rivera lived what appeared to be a normal life with their two kids, aged 13 and 10.
• In their house were two other living children aged 3 and 6 months. No one apparently knew they existed.
• The six month old girl is not reacting well to sunlight because she likely have never been outside. She also does not hold onto people when she is held, which indicates that she has never had human contact before.
• The three year old child had long hair that had never been cut. When he was discovered he was sitting in a bed, badly sunken from being soaked by his own feces and urine. He cannot communicate or talk. 
• When the children were discovered it was determined that they were “starving.”
• The house had no electricity or running water.
• Several skeletons of dead cats and dogs were found in the house.
• The house was infested with maggots and other vermin. Soiled diapers were stacked up to the ceiling.
• The children were discovered by a neighbor whose 13 year old son is friends with the 10 year old boy that lived in the house. She was tipped off when she asked her “how do you stop a baby from crying.”
• The 10 year old told the neighbor that he had a popsicle for breakfast and was hungry.
• The neighbor went to the house and the ten year old told her the two other children were not his siblings, and that his mother was “baby sitting” them.
• Upon leaving the house the neighbor confronted Erika Murray who was just arriving home. Murray told her, “I don’t know why you’re upset. I only left them alone for two hours.” (which is perfectly fucking normal apparently)
• When the police arrived they found a locked door in the child’s bedroom which they kicked in, causing an unbearable smell to emerge. Later in hazmat suits officers discovered the remains of at least three other deceased children. Since then they’ve all been identified as Murray’s.
• Murray has been arrested. Her boyfriend, Ray Rivera, who is her children’s father was also arrested for growing marijuana in the basement. He claims he had no idea there were three deceased children and two living children in his house.

On her Facebook page Murray seemed to live a normal life. Some might have even called her “fancy”

Seemed to be a well organized mother

Was THAT annoying person on your Facebook roster who felt the need to post what she was eating for dinner

Was very concerned about the well being of kids from all over (except of course her own)

And really frowned upon crappy parents

Anyway, as you know we have a bunch of writers on this site, and we don’t always agree on everything. The original author’s take was something to the extent of “This woman isn’t insane, and I’m sick of people using that defense to get out of punishment.” I disagree. No person can actually write the things she was writing on Facebook while hiding two children who had never seen the light of day, and possibly up to FIVE freaking pregnancies, unless they’re completely INSANE. Now don’t get me wrong – this shouldn’t give her ANY leniency. She just get the same punishment any other person was. But to deny that she’s not a complete wackjob is the real insanity.

The most bullshit part about this whole story though is that the husband is basically getting off scott free. Like, how is it even possible to believe he didn’t know what was going on in the house? I knew this story was bunk from the beginning, but now it’s pretty much undeniable after Blackstone officials released pictures of the house when police went through it. Let’s look at these pictures (courtesy of WCVB) and try to imagine a way in which Ray Rivera III didn’t know about the house of horrors he called home.

Sometimes I go upstairs and totally miss the collection of VHS tapes and 1980’s televisions amidst a pile of rubble

And there’s nothing strange at all about overturned furniture and tinker bell suitcases on top of a bunch of other prizes

And I don’t know about you all, but I’m sure somewhere in my house there’s a tub of mystery hidden that I have no idea exists

And sometimes I’m just so busy growing weed in the basement that I forget about the earthquake that hit Blackstone and caused all this damage

And LOTS of normal, regular, innocent people live for prolonged periods of time without growing suspicious about the strange smells emanating from their landfill of a home

If I’m Ray Rivera’s lawyer, I’m going to make sure he keeps this face on during the entire trial:

Because if that face doesn’t scream, “I’m a confused, oblivious dumbass” then nothing does. And the dumbass defense is the only thing this bastard’s got going for him.

Sure, Erika Murray is a psychopath that likely killed her children and would’ve killed two more if not for a neighbor. But this guy is the real threat to society. After all, he was growing WEED!!!

Anyway, psycho Mom and dumbass Dad deserve each other. Hopefully they arrest this stooge soon and we never see or hear from these people again.
