Remember when we urged the Worcester Public Schools to put police in the secondary schools? Remember when Gordon Davis and the “fuck the police” crowd held press conferences and whined about the “school to prison pipeline”:
Well as it turns out it ended up being insanely successful according to Masslive:
School officials say the police officers stationed in Worcester’s high schools after several incidents last year have successfully quelled the violence.
“There’s definitely a decrease in arrests, disruptions and assaults,” said the Worcester Public School’s school safety liaison, Rob Pezzella. He credited theaddition of full-time school resource officers to the high schools after a series ofgun incidents and assaults last year.
Now, Pezzella said he sees these officers building relationships with the students, teachers and parents at their respective schools. Deputy Chief Steve Sargent said those relationships are invaluable from a policing perspective.
“It’s invaluable,” said Sargent of having officers in the schools. “Community policing is really what we do. This is another way we can be in the neighborhood. This is closing the loop for us.”
Sargent noted that before officers would have to come in and arrest students and the only interaction the kids would have with police would be negative. Now, Sargent noted, the officers are able to have positive interactions with the kids every single day.
Oh look, it’s turning out to be everything we always predicted it would be. Some of these kids only have interactions with the cops when they’re running from them. Now that police are in the schools they’re building relationships and earning trust in the community during a time in which trust seems to be at an all time low (thanks to the mainstream media).
How dumb does Tray Novick feel right now? Remember when she said she didn’t want cops because it would be an “armed encampment?” Remember when Chris Robarge and the ACLU whined and whined about how kids would have their civil liberties violated? Remember all the columns Spanky wrote about how cops in school are racist? Remember when Boom-Boom got kicked out of a City Council meeting for yelling, “stop arresting kids at North High?”
Remember how long Melinda Boone refused to put cops at North? Remember when Joyce McNickles and Brenda Jenkins wheeled out this guy,
and he said he didn’t want cops with guns around his kid at North High? Yea, turns out they were all wrong. Again. Just like we said they would be.
Meanwhile, look at how the Telegram is choosing to report this same story:
“The number of arrests reported at Worcester schools during school hours is the highest it’s been in the last five years, according to newly released data from the Worcester Police Department. During the 2014-15 school year, there were 22 arrests. As of Wednesday, the Police Department reported there have been 22 arrests this school year, with about three months still to go.”
This is how a smut journalist like Samantha Allen writes a story. It was like, the third or fourth paragraph. Before ANY MENTION of the overwhelming success that Masslive reported. Later on towards the bottom she slipped this in there:
“Figures released by the Police Department include adults who may have been arrested on school property as well as students arrested in the schools on warrants unrelated to school.”
Oh, so the data is completely unrelated to other years because the cops are arresting non-students, and students who committed crimes OUTSIDE of school. Got it. Way to mention the first part about the growth in arrests first Sam. At least you’re not ripping off our stories about people cheating in road races anymore. Baby steps. Someday you’ll be a real, underpaid journalist.
Of course Chris Robarge’s grizzly ass had to be negative about this positive development,
“We are now on track to have a record number of arrests in the schools and we’re talking about potentially putting more officers in the schools,” he said. “If we’re training police officers to be social workers, why don’t we just hire social workers? I bet it would be less expensive.”
“Record number of arrests.” Oh, you mean the kids who have outstanding warrants against them and normally would be walking school causing trouble for other students and teachers? Yea, it’s a shame they’re not allowed to roam freely and beat up vice principals like the good old days.
The best part is that both Sam Allen and Chris Robarge failed to point out what Deputy Chief Sargent had to say:
Sargent noted that before officers would have to come in and arrest students and the only interaction the kids would have with police would be negative. Now, Sargent noted, the officers are able to have positive interactions with the kids every single day.
Then again, why would they? It doesn’t fit their anti-police agenda. But the rest of us can see the truth for what it is. The Turtleboy Sports Revolution put police in the schools, we took over the School Committee, we assassinated Mosaic, and they know they’re on a sinking ship and there’s nothing they can do about. This is what progress looks like. Ride the turtle.

I’m SHOCKED that a group of people willing to put their life on the line to protect the common good would have a positive impact in at-risk schools.
Of course kids love having the cops there. The cops share their donuts. Especially the chocolate raised ones with frosting!
This is a major victory for WPS! #rightsideofhistory
Mad bake David Jerry, mad bake!
Constructive suggestion TB. Get the real numbers of kids arrested in school for school related issue vs. adults vs. warrants for non-school related violations. Let’s prove to these ass wipes whats really happening! Otherwise it’s all semantics.
It would take reading 22 police reports for the WPD to prove this narrative if they wanted to do that, or thought they could. It’d take about an hour.
Any guesses on why they haven’t done that?
Misinformed twat waffle.
I don’t understand the anti police crowd. Are they saying kids are committing more crimes because the police are there? Because that’s the only reason you get arrested. For committing crimes. Someone please explain.
