The other day we mentioned a guy named Mesfin Beshir, a former City Council candidate in Worcester, who runs the Ethiopian Dream Center. As an immigrant himself, Mr. Beshir knows the struggles of coming to America from a poor nation such as Ethiopia, and how hard it can be to become adjusted in a strange and foreign place. The EDC provides counseling, language assistance, civic lessons, employment referrals, housing and medical advocacy, immigration paperwork, and a plethora of other services.
Sounds like a nice guy right? Well, not according to the hippies. Nope, according to them this makes him a racist. Why? Well, largely because of this picture that he posted on Facebook:
According to Mass Health Alliance employee Nathan Pickens, Mesfin “be cooning” by supporting Michael Gaffney for mayor. Nothing racist about that!! Guess who else Nathan Pickens works for.
Ahh yes, Mosaic Cultural Complex. Everyone’s favorite non-profit. Oh wait, I forgot, they never actually registered with the secretary of state as a non-profit. But hey, it didn’t stop Joe Petty and the City Council from writing them check for over $300,000 in taxpayer money!!! I’m sure people reading this are happy to see that their tax dollars finance the salary of Nathan Pickens, so he can continue to spew hate all over the Internet.
He wasn’t done making fun of Mesfin on his own page though. He had to go to Mesfin’s page, and start one of the most telling dialogues on race that you will ever see….
So Nathan Pickens evidently told Mesfin that he is not “African-American” and thus cannot have a seat at the table to discuss racial issues. Why?
Oh I see. It’s because he is an “Africoon American” according to Nathan Pickens. Apparently when you’re actually born in Africa, you don’t qualify as black to Nathan Pickens. After all, it’s much harder growing up in America than it is in Ethiopia. Nathan Pickens seems like a real winner. I’m happy that we pay him to be a “residential counselor” for Mass Health. I bet he provides some really good counsel.
Yea Mesfin. How’s your “piece of shit Ethiopian dream center”? Sure some people would look at an organization which helps poor people of color become self sufficient as a good thing. But apparently that’s only because people who think like that “be cooning.” At least according to Reverend Nathan Pickens. And there’s nothing racist whatsoever about referring to Mike Gaffney as Mesfin’s “master” because he supports his political campaign. Nothing racist at all.
Calling a guy who is trying to help his community a “house nigger but worse.” That is definitely an appropriate thing for an employee of Mass Health Alliance to be saying on social media. Definitely.
“I don’t preach hate.” Yup, Nathan Pickens actually said that. Come on man, just own it. You’re full of hate, it’s evidently all you are capable of. Hate. Here at Turtleboy Sports we preach love. Love of everyone and respect for people who show respect. We don’t hate Nathan Pickens at all. We just wish he had more love and less hate. Also, we would prefer if our tax dollars didn’t finance his salary.
So we decided to ask Nathan Pickens himself – why is he so racist? Why is he so consumed with hate? The answer was exactly what we thought it would be.
LOL, oh yes, the “I’m black so therefore I can get away with being blatantly racist because racism is a one way street” card. Well, I guess I can’t blame him for saying that. After all, it was the City of Worcester and Ed Augustus who authorized a handout at the DOJ meeting that said the same exact thing:
As for the “Turtleboy is racist” thing, this is just getting played out. As you know, we’ve been called this before. It’s just the cool thing to do. Sure, we’ve asked for any sort of excerpt or line from a Turtleboy Sports blog that would be considered racist by a reasonable person. But usually that just leads to more yelling. Because sometimes it’s easier to yell than have a coherent, documented point of view. In this case, it was simply easier to say that Mesfin Beshir is Turtleboy and Mike Gaffney’s “slave.”
Ahh yes, when confronted with a rational thought, just toss “white privilege” out there. Because if you are at all concerned that an employee of Mass Health Alliance is spewing racial hatred at a black man, this makes you “white privilege.” It also makes you a racist of course, but you already knew that.
However, according to Nathan Pickens, “coon” is not a racist term:
First of all, Mesfin is not Turtleboy’s “token black boy.” J-Dubz is. And I’d also love to see any sort of documentation that would illustrate Michael Gaffney’s alleged racism. But we’ve all kind of figured out by now that everything the hippies say is undocumented nonsense.
And guess where else Nathan Pickens works – WCUW 91.3 FM:
Hmmm, who is more worthy of middle America’s “defense?” Michael Brown, who purposely tried to take a gun from a police officer and got shot because of it, or Mesfin Beshir, who provides valuable services to the black community? Tough one.
Yes, this concerned citizen is so disillusioned about all her privileges that she forgot about that slave plantation she owned down in South Carolina. One of the most obvious “privileges” she has is the magical ability to spell. Although I’m not so “shore” that Nathan Pickens isn’t just fucking with us.
He even got known Worcester racist Michael Jerry to chime in as well:
You might recall Michael Jerry was with Professor Sonya “Boom-Boom” Conner at the City Council meeting where they were protesting Councilor Konnie Lukes resolution to support the Worcester Police. These are the leaders of this “movement.” Shocking that it’s going up in flames.
But wait, it gets better. Did you know that Nathan Pickens has is apparently quite chummy with City Manager Ed Augustus?
He’s also been awarded a key to the city by Mayor Joe Petty:
He’s even tagging Joe Petty in those posts. We anxiously await Mayor Petty’s denial that he gave such a prestigious award to man who is clearly hateful and bigoted.
Anyway, these lovely folks just can’t stop proving our point for us. Every time a hippie speaks they just make themselves seem more and more ridiculous. But what’s scary is that they have more influence than you do. This guy has been handed the key to the city. This is Joe Petty’s Worcester. Vote the Turtleboy ticket in November. Mike Gaffney for Mayor.
