Source: The State University of New York (SUNY) at Binghamton is now offering a course called “#StopWhitePeople2K16” as part of routine training for residential assistants. The university’s residential assistant training schedule lists “#StopWhitePeople2016” on its roster, with the mission of giving RA’s an “overview of disabilities in Higher Education.”

The presenters of the course, Ciaran Slattery, Nicholas Pulakos, and Urenna Nwogwugwu, are all RAs at the state-funded college, which describes itself as New York’s highest-ranking public college. They state their purpose is to “help others take the next step in understanding diversity, privilege, and the society we function within,” presumably the “white” society they plan to “stop” at the event. The three RAs claim they will give “#StopWhitePeople2K16” course attendees the “tools” to respond to “uneducated people” with “‘good’ arguments.”

Let’s stop racism by being racist. Let’s understand diversity by shitting on white people. The best part is that these are two of the people who are putting this event on:

Yup, nothing says “understanding privilege” than a mandatory class about stopping white people, taught by two white guys.

I’m confused though. I thought RA’s existed so that working class sophomores could go to college for free by snitching on upper middle class freshmen who like to break the rules. They have to be trained to give out condoms and ask people to turn the music down. Since when would RA’s ever need to be trained in how to acquire the “tools” to respond to “uneducated people” with “‘good’ arguments?” How does that help you become a better RA?

Oh right, it doesn’t. It’s just another way that colleges have found a way to enact a racist policy against white guys, because white people are evil and have historically been the bad guys. Now it’s time for revenge. Sweet, bloodthirsty revenge!! That’s what college is all about now!!

Anyway, it goes without saying that if there were a #StopBlackPeople2K16 course for RA’s the earth would stop spinning on its axis. But it’s 2016 and shitting on white guys is the easiest way for white people to prove to people of color that they’re not racist. So for the 99% of white people at SUNY Binghamton whose ancestors didn’t own slaves or participate in Jim Crow, you’re gonna have to take one for the team. Because we’re going to assume that all of you are racist and force you to come to our mandatory reeducation classes so that you can become tolerant and diverse!!
