I hate bouncers. They’re a bunch of fake, wannabe cop, wannabe tough guys who get off on the very small amount of power they have to let you cut the line to get into an overcrowded money pit with sticky floors. There is nothing these people love more than putting on a black shirt with the word “STAFF” on the back, that’s two sizes too small, and act like a hardo. I’m sure there’s some OK bouncers out there, but 99% of bouncers I’ve ever dealt with have been self important trash. Sorry, not sorry.
Anyway, I bring this up because a bar in Manchester called McGarvey’s had an incident on New Year’s Eve in which some drunk dude got thrown out of the bar and ended up getting his head literally stomped in by one of these ogres on a power trip. Watch.
Just to be clear, I’m sure the victim was probably a huge asshole that night, and I talked about it on the podcast/live show (along with discussion about the Pembroke DUI tragedy and Kylie Kirkpatrick’s court records).
But that doesn’t make what happened in that video OK. Of course we don’t see what happened before the film started rolling, but it doesn’t really matter. The video starts off with him being kicked in the head by one of these Bam Bam Wigelows.
But that was nothing compared to what happened shortly after when they already had him pinned to the ground before giving him the Edward Norton American History X treatment.
His head was split open and there was blood everywhere.
No attempt whatsoever was made to call for an ambulance or get him medical treatment. I don’t care what he did in that bar, he didn’t deserve that.
Luckily one good samaritan stepped up and said something, and for that he was also punched in the face, completely unprovoked.
The good samaritan swung back and kind of went in the other direction. But instead of just letting it go, Hardo Harry the bouncer had to run after him with his STAFF friends, and four of them drove him into a snow pile too.
What pissed me off is that when the cops got there they immediately arrested the victim in the snowbank without asking ANY questions to any of the dozen or so witnesses, including the guy filming it. Had they done so they would’ve seen that the man they had in handcuffs was assaulted for standing up for a guy sitting in a pool of blood because some thug piece of shit curb stomped him. The cops didn’t even ask anyone why there was a dude there bleeding out of his head. Their primary concern was cuffing the guy in the snowbank, who they assumed was the bad guy because for whatever reason hardos in STAFF shirts are automatically assumed to be good people.
But why? Who they fuck are they? What training do they have? What REAL authority do they have?
I’d love to speak to the guy who was arrested and get him on the live show tomorrow night. Safety & Security for all patrons is the goal, however the underlying objective of any bouncer is to limit the liability TO the establishment. Plain & simple.
Bouncing 101: The job is 95% mental, 5% physical.
You need to be able to communicate effectively, react swiftly, & enforce strongly.
1. If there is an argument – defuse the situation & remove the instigators from the premises quietly
2. If there is a fight – break it up and remove all parties from the premises
3. If a fight spills outside the doors of the establishment – do not engage, come back inside
What these bouncers did exposed not only bar, but themselves personally to lawsuits. And guess what? All of them will lose with what is on that video.
I’d be more than happy to speak with the guy that got bounced and the gentleman hit if the face questioning the gestapo tactics.

I fucking hate bouncers and others involved with bar security. Avoid Coogans in Boston at all costs, those bouncers are known to be violent. I get it, that bar attracts trash (myself included) and their job is probably really annoying 90% of the time, but the bouncers are a bunch of hot headed cop wannabe’s, just like these guys, and make situations way worse.
Upon further review of this video, the guy was restrained and was removed from the venue. That should have ended right there- they ejected him from private property on to a public sidewalk.
Then they kick him in the head. I think this goes way beyond A&B, he was restrained and defenseless and a dude just curbed stomped him. I would call that attempted murder or attempted manslaughter or whatever it might be.
Then when they are called out by another citizen, they wolf pack attack him. This entire thing needs to be fully investigated and all witnesses need to be interviewed.
These bouncers need to be prosecuted and jailed.

Read the article & watch the video. Arrested a guy who had been assaulted, laying down in a snowbank, because…the bouncers told them to? Is that SOP? What about all the other witnesses, what about everything else that happened? If you can’t presume innocence or guilt when you arrive at a scene without interviewing anyone, we certainly won’t presume cops are doing the right thing either, and in this case, they did not.
So handcuffs go on and that’s an automatic arrest? Which police academy did you attend?

I am going to laugh when some concerned citizen shows up in the next couple of weeks and puts a few rounds into the “security staff” or parts a couple of their ribs with a 6″ blade, maybe even some machete action. All those steroids are going to do is make the blood pump faster as Stomper McGee exsanguinates through multiple wound channels.
I know bouncers are given some latitude and benefit of the doubt by cops but this falls way outside the bounds. If the cops don’t drop any and all charges against the good samaritan after this incontrovertible video evidence, then they deserve whatever litigation comes their way.

It doesn’t pay to be a “good Samaritan.” Most bouncers are just that — THUGS! Bars that cannot maintain order should be shut down. Something is wrong when there violence breaks out and there are fights, although that is usually due to having the wrong clientele in the establishment. Trash usually attracts trash. That is why many of us join private clubs in order to eliminate having trash come walking in from the street. When the wrong type of person wants to join, we can simply say, “no.”
It doesn’t pay to go to these shit clubs, period.

1) Kick to head easily charged as 1st Degree Assault (Class A Felony) NH 633:1 and plea down to 2nd Degree. Still a Felony. Serious Injury: TBI. Good luck asshole.
2) The other 3 idiots charged as party to this, including False Imprisonment (he’s outside the bar and apparently not fighting back)
3) The intentional tort isn’t going far in a civil case (none of those assholes have any money), but I think it would be easy to bypass the likely “A&B” exclusion of insurance policy as McGarvey’s appears *negligent* in it’s training of bouncers.
4) Victim should immediately seek treatment for TBI
