Lawrence police officer William Green took to Facebook live addressing his denied MCAD complaint and gave Nancy Kerrigan a run for her money with his “why me” antics and blame-game rhetoric.
Why is Green so angry? Because he didn’t get his way, naturally. Unless you’ve been living under a rock in the Merrimack Valley you are probably all too familiar with William Green by now. Green has used his Facebook and YouTube channel for the past few years in a long running attempt to portray members of the LPD and Mayor Dan Rivera as discriminatory vultures hell bent on firing him because of the color of his skin and definitely not because he’s routinely screwed up at work.
Well this week the results of the MCAD complaint he filed in 2014 came back and determined that every single complaint listed was NOT a result of discrimination by the LPD and/or other parties listed on the form.
Womp Womppppp.
Green begins by assuring us all that he’s not crazy, that he’s not a liar and that this is all a healthy form of expression. He asks the people watching his video “do you think there’s discrimination in this city? Is it outside the realm of possibility?”
No, it’s not outside the realm of possibility to think there’s discrimination in the city of Lawrence but is discrimination the main source of all of your problems within the police department? No.
Then he goes on to say:
“What it reads as for me is like this. The way that they set it up is that I still haven’t gotten a copy of the decision. My lawyer called me yesterday (Thursday) but it was before that that Duggen had a copy of it and it got printed. So how did he get a copy? And he had a very well articulated statement from Captain Macnamara and Turtleboy entertainment or whatever in Worcester got a copy of it before I was notified so it felt strange like how does all of that coordination happen unless there’s once source and someone behind it. Personally it’s huge because so much coordination went into setting that up so that now this 5th time (Dan will probably say 3 times) they’ve tried to fire me, it’s coming now. I think it’s coming now. That’s just my reading.”
You know, if I filed a giant complaint against this many people I’d probably take some personal responsibility and strive to make contact and stay updated on it’s status after almost 3 years.
Green goes on to state that he was never even interviewed and that he only got one email from the investigator 2 years ago and wonders when the decision got expedited.
Last time I checked 3 years isn’t exactly the definition of “expedition” and anyone with Google can go online and find out the MCAD filing process which is as follows:
So let me get this straight. Filing in person can take upwards of 2 hours between the paperwork and the interview and filing by mail requires a narrative, examples, and a timeline of dates and events with proper documentation… But you’re saying that the investigation was hasty and without detail? If you were going balls out and filing a complaint with MCAD don’t you think you should’ve done your homework in hopes of achieving the maximum success rate? If you really only received one email then you should’ve done the leg work to make sure your complaint was filed properly. I guess that’s someone elses fault too though.
I guess we have no choice but to believe Green because like he says, he’s not a liar.
He also says “I never said the word racist, ever. I’m 1/2 white, 1/2 black. I understand what dynamics sort of play in my own family with race. I never used the word racist. Discrimination, yes, all day and there is some but that’s not what this is about so much as they can say no we’re not firing him because of discrimination. We don’t discriminate and we can fire him and they think that maybe that’s going to discredit me somehow because guess what? Who looks like the liars here? The people that are saying ‘the LPD does this and the city of Lawrence does that?’ those people are the ones we’re supposed to believe? Because if that’s the case then they’re gonna tell us everything’s great here and there’s no crime and the things that the community complains about don’t exist so that’s it.”
Ok let me break this down so that I understand it correctly. This isn’t about the LPD being racist but it IS about the LPD being discriminatory.
If racism is essentially an idea but discrimination is putting that idea into action then wouldn’t pointing fingers at the LPD for being discriminatory be a WORSE accusation than saying they’re racist? Are we just splitting hairs here? Because I figured that time you showed up to a city counsel meeting and called everyone out for systemic racial discrimination, sparking this entire shitshow, you would have chosen your words pretty carefully and known ahead of time what message you were trying to get across.
So not racism, discrimination. Got it.
The other big issue here is the crime rate, right? The crime rate that’s dropped steadily with Rivera in office? So this excerpt from the State Of The City report is wrong?
Green goes on to pull at the heartstrings of viewers about how he’s going to be out of a job and that his family won’t have health insurance and wont be able to afford their rent.
“For a matter of opinion, for a difference in politics I’m gonna lose my job and my health insurance. I’ve never been afraid of working and I’ve never cried about that. I take my lumps when they’re deserved but this isn’t. Remember I have a family? Who were covered under that health insurance? Like I said I’m not afraid of working but this is all political and he’s gonna be gone in 8 months so why doesn’t he just let me work and leave me alone? That’s what this is about. This is a personal thing more than anything else and that’s my question. Just leave me alone. That’s all I’ve ever wanted, to work and be left alone.”
Ok which is it? Personal? Political?
Maybe you’re going to be out of job because you have a hard time admitting when you’re wrong (like when you pocket 4 grand in detail payments instead of submitting it to the PD to be processed like you’re supposed to.) Maybe you should’ve taken the 30 day suspension like your coworker was smart enough to do instead of arguing the facts and getting yourself a 90 day mini vacation. Maybe after Fitzpatrick put in the order prohibiting police officers from using social media (which was essentially your doing after you complained about your coworkers putting you on blast for letting a criminal escape from LGH) you should’ve adhered to the rules. So many of the issues you’ve video blogged about for years have 100% been a direct result of your inability to take criticism and punishment for screwing up your job. You can sit down and own the situation you’re in any time now because you’re not fooling anyone. We’re all supposed to feel bad that you’re going to have a hard time finding a job? You probably should have thought about that before plastering yourself all over social media and making a mockery of the Lawrence PD. Nobody took your job away from you.
If you’ve only ever wanted to work and be left alone then why have you asked to resign? Why would you walk out of your disciplinary hearing instead of fighting to keep your job if you want it so badly? Why would you initiate and support a recall of Dan Rivera and continuously ruffle the feathers of your higher-ups if you wanted to lay low and get to work? While you have been busy throwing a public tantrum and shit talking the LPD you could have been at work doing the job you say you wanted so badly. You have made the other 100+ officers in Lawrence (you know, the ones who routinely show up and DO their jobs) look bad since day 1 of your antics. You really want to work?
Yo no estoy convencido.
Good luck running for mayor. I’m sure Keith Eddings from the Eagle Tribune will polish you up nicely in his support articles from now until September. Turtleboy and Tom Duggan from the Valley Patriot will be over here posting the real news for people who want to stay in touch with reality.

This guy looks like a LARD ASS! Can you pass a fitness test to be a cop, or are you just PLAIN, OLD FAT??? Just go away! Two Simple Steps!:
1) Retire from being a cop
2) Fade into obscurity, and TurtleBoy will NEVER write about you EVER AGAIN! Your 15 minutes of infamy will become a distant memory!
Do us all a favor, FAT ASS!
Originally a great story by a great TB writer. I supported it from the get go. And the follow up I supported as well which nobody else did. Nobody. But now the story is told and getting way too old to keep regressing so it’s time to just let it go. This is now becoming Cop bashing leaning heavily toward an obsession and an anti-Cop campagne in general. And that I do not concur with at all and never will and TBS is not about that because I have been reading this blog since its inception in 2013. And if this continues my comments will do a 180 because I AM pro Police. And why? Well I dunna know maybe fucking because I am one. Who knows?
I feel dumber for having read your comment bob. This is far from an anti cop story and I have no idea where you’re seeing this. The guy who happens to be a cop, is a whinebag and he rags on his own department and city. Tbs is far from anti cop. Go sit back in the rocker and enjoy retirement.
You’re missing my point MrSmiley.
And don’t patronize me. That will not work. Ever.
Oh and how about this. Fuck you.
New month, new check, new binge! Speed kills. GO AWAAY!!
Good talk bob. Badge or not you’re a cunt.
Bob I sincerely hope you dont take MVTB’s posts on William Green as anti-police or cop bashing. If you read the articles you’ll see that we stand by the LPD and feel as though it is a shame that time and energy has been taken away by Greens incessant inability to do his job. The artles were in response to him talking about us. Followup articles are a necessity to help people receive both sides of opinion so that our readers can form your own. I am 1000% pro police, I am not against 1 bad cop tainting the reputations of an entire police force. I hope this response helps you to understand where I’m coming from.
I never said that did I MVTB? In fact I agreed with your assessment did I not? And still do. I admired what you presented here. I’m just saying it is time to let this one go. It gives a false impression to this blog to keep hoping on this. And of course the result of me speaking my mind will result with all of the Cop haters that will chime up and tell me to go pound sand. Like I never dealt with that before. That’s just the way it goes on subjects like this with me. But I still will say nice job.
Fuuuuuck that’s a lot of Café Bustelo cans above his built-in cupboards.
