A police officer in Chicago is being charged in the killing of a 17 year old named Laquan McDonald. After a reporter filed a FOIA request the dashcam video was finally released. It’s pretty clear as day that the shooting was not justified and charges are more than appropriate:
I don’t know the first thing about police training or anything like that, but I’m pretty sure in the academy that they don’t treat you to shoot people who are walking away from you. So yea, this is a legitimate reason for people to be upset, particularly because it took over a year for charges to be brought against the officer.
But like we’ve said a million times before, the outrage is pretty selective. Chicago is basically a third world country. A million people get shot there every day and the only one that people seem upset about is the one where a cop pulled the trigger.
Anyway, there’s a 16 year old kid going around Chicago for the last few days staring down every cop he sees:
Apparently he asks them all, “are you gonna shoot me 16 times?” Nah dude, wasn’t planning on it. I kind of think you want me to because you apparently thrive on being a victim. But I’m just a nice guy trying to do his job and protect your community from savages. Why don’t you give me a break and redirect your anger to someone who has actually wronged you?
He’s a genuine bad ass though. Really brave guy. His name is Lamon Reccord. And as you can see, he’s obviously accomplishing a lot. One of these extremely awkward and uncomfortable confrontations was aired live during Megyn Kelly’s show, and she wasn’t too fond of it:
Is this free speech? Of course. Do I stand up for his right to do this? Definitely. Does it mean he’s still an asshole? Absolutely.
That’s all this is. A gutless, dooshnozzle move that accomplishes nothing. The cop who shot Laquan McDonald is his beef. So go find him and stare him down. Why the hell are you staring down this poor guy? What the hell did he do to you besides protect and serve your community? He could’ve been a cop in any small town he wanted to, but he chose to serve the most dangerous city in America instead.
But hey, total bad ass move on your part. You showed him who’s boss!!
So here’s my question for my man Lamon – do you blame everyone in a profession if someone else who performs that same job commits a crime? Like this salesman who murdered someone. Do you go around staring down every salesman you see? I mean, they’re all murderers right? Or here’s an idea. Aaron Hernandez killed a whole BUNCH of people. What time will you be going down to Soldier Field so you can stare down Jay Cutler and Matt Forte? I mean, they’re in the same line of work as a murderer, so obviously you have to stare them down right?
If I’m this cop right here:
I’m just thinking, dude, what the fuck did I do to you? Why do you hate me? You don’t even know me. I have a wife and a family at home and I’m here right now because they don’t pay me rent. Why anyone wants to be a cop in 2015 is beyond me. This is the type of shit you have to deal with because someone is upset with one of your coworkers.
By the way, I realize that this kid did not deserve to die, and I fully recognize that the officer did not have to shoot him 16 times. But I’m still waiting for the first story that prompts national outrage against police that doesn’t involve the victim committing a crime or running away from the police. Because there are TONS of murder victims out there who weren’t murdered while breaking into cars, slashing tires, and running away from the police. But we never hear about any of them because apparently good ol’ fashioned cut and dry murders aren’t nearly as juicy as a cop acting stupidly in a high pressure situation.
