A 24 year old drug dealer was shot in Fitchburg yesterday. I know, I’m as shocked as much as you are. A drug dealer. In Fitchburg. Died. Never saw that one coming. After all, it seems like such a safe line of work. What could possibly go wrong?
Well the Fitchburg Sentinel was the first to report the shooting and used this as their cover photo on Facebook:
The photograph is powerful and important to show. This is what happens when you live the gangsta life. It’s glamorous while you’re reaping the benefits, but more often than not it ends like this, or in an state-issued jumpsuit.
But seeing as this is Fitchburg, the Burg’s finest have been seeping out of the woodworks on the Facebook machine and blaming everyone except the shooter and the deceased gangsta who were responsible for this unfortunate situation. Don’t worry though, it’s only a matter of time until the RIP t-shirts, and the painted RIP messages on the backs of 98 Dodge Caravans start popping up in the twin cities. Then everything will be fixed.
Instead they’re blaming the staff at the Sentinel for publishing these photographs. Let’s look at some of the things these geniuses are saying on the Facebook machine…
No they don’t. They need to report the news. That’s their job. Respecting your family is not even remotely close to being part of their job description. You know who disrespects your family? People who infect our society with drugs that kill people. But you would never possibly admit that the victim could’ve possibly brought this upon himself right?
Here’s an idea genius. If the famly doesn’t wanna see the pictures, I would suggest they not go looking for them on Facebook. That might help.
Yea Fitchburg Sentinel – why don’t you do some REAL reporting? Because a homicide that occurs in broad daylight definitely doesn’t qualify as news. No one has ever shown blood and gore on the news before. Ever.
Sweet baby Jesus, what an EPIC twin city post that was!! The complete disregard for all things English in this post is fantastically Fitchburg. The Sentinel should DEFINITELY be taking their marching orders from brilliant minds like this. I salute you sir.
You’re right. They don’t care about the family or victim. Because that’s not why the Sentinel exists. Their job is to report the news. Which is the trashier profession? Drug dealing or reporting?
Yea, you know why that blood is all over that 24 year old “boy?” Because he got shot. Getting shot is what drug dealers do best. Do you blame NBC or CBS for broadcasting a football game when a player gets severely injured? No. Because getting injured in football is part of the job description. And likewise for drug dealers, getting shot is what happens more often than not. Don’t wanna get shot? Try not dealing drugs for a little bit. See how that goes.
Hey Fitchburg Sentinel, you might not have gotten the message, but doosnozzle McGee never approved of those photographs before they were published. And it’s a “friend of mine’s brother,” so you really should’ve checked with her first. Journalism 101 – always check with everyone on the Internet before hitting the publish button.
Never underestimate the power of stupid. Hey genius, you realize that by repeatedly commenting on this page all of your friends who haven’t liked the Sentinel’s page now have it appear in their feeders, right? Then they comment on it, and all their friends see it. You literally just started a chain of events that inadvertantly brought hundreds, if not thousands of new readers to the Sentinel. Good luck with that boycott though.
Oh, why didn’t you TELL ME it was your husband’s family? I forgot that your family is off-limits for news coverage. This comment made a lot more sense when I saw this:
A Steelers fan. What’d you expect?
You know someone means business when they use all caps. You can also tell someone’s blood pressure is rising when they hit that caps lock mid-rant. I can literally picture her yelling this out loud as she types, getting angrier and angrier as she goes along. Only a matter of time until her inner Fitchburg fully comes out and she smashes her monitor.
LOL. Hilarious. I got a bridge to sell anyone who thought this wasn’t drug related the moment it became news. When the Boston Marathon blew up the first thing I said was, “I’ll bet you a million dollars it’s Muslims.” And low and behold, it was. I was right then, and I was right with this one. Because some things in life are just that predictable.
Ding, ding, ding!!!!
Ladies and gentlement, introducing Fitchburg Man – the Turtleboy Internet lawyer of the day!!
Yea Fitchburg Sentinel. Why are you focusing on so much of the blood and gore in this story about a cold-blooded murder? Can’t you write about smiles, rainbows, and sunshine a little more? I mean, the weather was REALLY good that day. Get it together.
Here’s a question girlfriend. Since you loved your cousin so much, please tell me all the steps you took to help him get away from this extremely dangerous professions? Oh yea that’s right, you didn’t do that. But you did turn your profile picture into a collage of the deceased while he was reaping the benefits of the illegal drug trade, so clearly you’re pointing the finger at the right people.
Finally there was this gem
Actually, I can’t imagine that this would be my family member. Because no one in my family is a drug kingpin. Stop trying to get us to relate to a lifestyle we purposely try to avoid.
And did you actually say that the Boston bombing pcitures should “never be posted?” Newsflash – not only is the media doing nothing wrong for posting pictures like this, but they also have an obligation to the public to post them. Had I not seen Jeff Bauman’s legs blown off I could never really comprehend the true horror of the Boston Marathon bombing.
In the same regard, had young, impressionable kids not seen the pictures of this deceased drug dealer, they could never understand the true horrors of the drug trade. My guess is at least one young kid who might’ve been inclined to make a quick buck slinging smack, looked at this picture and said, “Fuck that, I’m getting a job at McDonald’s.”
So the photographer saved that kid’s life today. What did you frauds do? Pour one out for your homies and start and RIP Facebook page? Awesome job. But hey, keep ignoring the real issues and pointing your fingers at strawmen. It’s working out great so far. Don’t worry though, it’s only a matter of time until the RIP t-shirts, and the painted RIP messages on the backs of 98 Dodge Caravans start popping up out of the woodworks.
The bottom line is that this is yet another example of people pointing their fingers at someone else because they don’t have the minerals to examine problems in their own community. It’s the reason people blamed Darren Wilson instead of Michael Brown. It’s the reason people blame teachers and schools instead of shitty parents. It’s the reason hippies pitch tents on Wall Street instead of taking a shower and getting a job. Because we’ve enabled a society of victims.
This is why we fight at Turtleboy Sports. Because someone has to restore sanity to our society.
