Am I A Dooshnozzle For Betting On Montreal Canadiens To End Boston Bruins Winning Streak Even Though They Were Obviously Going To Win?

I’m a rabid Boston Bruins fan, but I’m not gonna lie – before the game tonight against the Montreal Canadiens I did this:

What are you supposed to do as a Bruins fan, who also enjoys free money? I mean, I never bet on hockey, but this was probably the most predictable outcome in the history of sports. The Bruins have won 12 in a row. They’re playing at home against a team that is perpetually a pain in their ass, and they just got back from a Western Conference trip in Colorado and Phoenix. Oh yea, and the Canadiens were +165.

The dilemma is of course that the Canadiens are easily the most dislikable team in any sport, and quite frankly it’s not even really close. But free money is free money. I just tossed down 20, knowing it would likely grow, watched the whole game rooting for the Bruins, and then accepted my money when the inevitable happened. This groups of wannabe Francs just brings their A game against us every single time, even with their back up goalie in net.

So I guess, the question is, is it OK to bet against your team if you KNOW they’re going to lose? Feel free to share your thoughts to keep the conversation going.

Bet with your head, not with your heart. And remember that “your team” is a bunch of professionals who do this for the money. Therefore you should not feel bad about betting against them when it is the right thing to do and booing them when they absolutely blow… like John Lackey giving up 4 runs in 5 1/3 innings while pink hats give him a standing ovation. Less than a month to Patriots Day, let’s hope that all of these idiots have their pink Boston Strong t-shirts ready to ruin my Fenway experience.
