Here’s an email that Amherst Regional High School principal Mark Jackson sent out to students, faculty, and parents about an impending walkout today over the results of a fair, democratic election and peaceful transition of power:
Tomorrow, Monday, November 14, some ARHS students have organized a walk out from school in protest of the results of the Presidential election. The students who participate are scheduled to exit the school around 12:30 pm. I have two interests: – to provide students with the latitude to express themselves politically; and, – to maintain order within the school. While it is hard to predict how many students will join the walk out. I think it is safe to assume the numbers will be considerable.
Here are the procedures we will use to manage the moment:
1. Before students leave the school, they must sign out. They will enter their names on sheets we will provide in the main hallway.
2. Students who bring a signed note from a parent or guardian will be marked ‘absent/excused’ from their last two periods.
3. Students who do not bring a signed note from a parent or guardian will be marked ‘absent/unexcused’ from their last two periods. These absences will count toward the absent limit.
Once students leave school property, they are no longer the responsibility of the school. Please let me know if have questions or concerns.

He obviously is expecting your call(s).
This is hardly surprising. After all, it’s the same principal who in 2014 organized and sanctioned a student walkout, and 4.5 minutes of silence in honor of Michael Brown, a criminal who hd just robbed a store, assaulted a small business owner, and tried to take a police officer’s gun. Students and teachers chanted “hands up, don’t shoot,” despite the fact that the Justice Department has determined that Mike Brown’s hands were never up.
Amherst High School is basically a joke at this point. This is the same school where the every single girl on the volleyball team except for one brave individual, kneels for the national anthem. She’s of course labeled as a racist and has essentially been put on an island because she chooses to show respect for her country.
Check out this story. In 2014, a newer teacher named Carolyn Gardner claimed someone wrote racist grafitti directed at her in the bathroom stall. No one knows who put it there, but apparently they knew where she was gonna dump that day. She ended up getting diagnosed with PTSD because of it. I swear to God. PTSD. No joke. The school offered her an alternative position within the district and a financial settlement. She turned the offer down and sued the district. She ended up being put on paid leave, so she’s basically getting a taxpayer funded vacation.
So just to review what just happened this time around. A fair and democratic election was held. The other guy won. This makes people mad. Kids want to skip school. Principal is allowing them to do so. Parents are encouraging them to do so by writing notes.
Welcome to the People’s Republic of Amherst.
Now close your eyes and imagine if Hillary won, and a group of Trump-supporting students wanted to organize a walkout to protest the most corrupt candidate in American history becoming leader of the free world. They’d be called sexist and this would be classified as a hate rally. If they did it over Obama they’d all be racist. This is insanity.
I also love how he says he wants to “maintain order” in the school. And he’s doing that by allowing hundreds of kids to skip class without any sort of punishment. Because he knows that’s what hundreds of kids are gonna do now right? If you’re just a regular kid who doesn’t even follow politics, you’ve basically been given a green light to go walk to UMass, smoke a couple doobies in the horseshoe, and hit up Antonio’s for some hot cheese up front.
Or how bout if you’re a kid that studied for a test that day? All of your classmates won’t have to take it because the principal just allowed them to skip class. They all get an extra day to study. You don’t, because you’re respecting the outcome of a fair and democratic election.
Newsflash – this is not an “excused” absence. They can call it that, but there’s no excuse for it. What if a parent wanted to have their kid dismissed so they could go to Six Flags? The absence certainly wouldn’t be excused. So now the principal is picking and choosing which political ideologies justify missing class.
And what about all the kids who DON’T have notes from parents but will skip anyway? He says they’ll be marked absent, but he doesn’t say anything about them being punished in the same manner that someone who skipped class (which they are doing) would be.
Here’s my question – what if you’re a kid that goes to Amherst High School and your parents vote for Trump? What about their feelings? The principal of the high school is saying that the man their parents voted for is so racist, so sexist, and so anti-everyone who isn’t a white guy, that this necessitates a walkout that the school actively supports. Fuck them, right? They’re just a bunch of Nazis anyway.
The butthurt never ends.
